From WashingtonPost.com:

Retired Army Gen. Colin L. Powell, whose opposition to allowing gay men and lesbians to serve openly in the military helped lead to adoption of the “don’t ask, don’t tell” legislation 17 years ago, said Wednesday that he now thinks the restrictive law should be repealed.“Attitudes and circumstances have changed,” Powell said. “It’s been a whole generation” since the legislation was adopted, and there is increased “acceptance of gays and lesbians in society,” he said. “Society is always reflected in the military. How will the admission of sexual minorities in the military affect morale and discipline ? I don’t think it will have any bearing on the unit as a whole. Afterall, we’ve never been in the business of trying to convert people. It doesn’t rub off !!!

Why Colin Powell wasn’t making these remarks about gays serving openly before he retired from the military?

Why does it even matter? IT should be like any other job. On other jobs they are not allowed to ask such questions. If they want to keep it to themselves fine. If they want to be open fine. As long as they follow military rules then it should be all good.

Handsome that is a good point. Kind of Ironic huh.lol
