ok from the black male point of view that has been in the military for a while. the reason that black females were probably getting kicked out at a bigger rate is cause black females are more outward with there behavior. they have the short male type haircuts and they go to the on base clubs and dance with other females more then there counterparts of other races. i have seen it everywhere i have been stationed. i may be wrong but this is what i have seen in my military travels. also i have met many gay males and females in the military and i haven’t seen any of them get kicked out. they leave on there own or the stay in and progress. this article is stupid and is somebody whining and really are on the outside looking in.

i’ve had both gay males and females in my company, and from what i’ve seen is that no one really pursues ucmj against homosexuals unless it somehow becomes a problem. that being said, the reason why more sisters are discharged because of it is because they probably don’t really want to be in the service anymore and need to get out. of all the demographics the are in the service, from what i’ve seen, black females as a group seem to have the most difficult time adjusting to the lifestyle. of course there are plenty of successful NCO, WO, and CO sisters, however a lot (not the majority) of those e1-e4 seem to struggle

How many of the “3.3%” of discharged Black females have been interviewed to ascertain the circ**stances surrounding their discharge? I’m willing to bet that the majority of those females, whether they openly admit it or not, used the Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell policy as a means to escape their military contractual obligations (mainly Iraq and Afghanistan deployments). The policy in itself is a simple one…the military will not, at any time, ask you about your sexual orientation as a factor in allowing you to join the service, nor as a factor to disqualify or discharge you while serving…IF you do not engage in, display, solicit, or openly profess homosexuality. It’s simple. The military says that sexual preference is a “personal and private” matter which should not be a factor for service. If you choose to make your personal and private matters open to public scrutiny, you should not later complain about discrimination or any other backlash resulting from it, and you should be willing to accept the consequences of your disclosures.

Pure Mumbo Jumbo…BP couldent even post credible sources. my mother used to tell something: believe half of what you see, and none of what you hear. The fact is that the Army (cant speak for the other services) does not keep statistical data pertaining to those issues. and I could honestly say that the number of black women who were kicked out for being gay is probably less than 0.01% less than 100.

I mean to get kicked out of the Army for being Gay a person would have to sit down and doing an ungodly amount of paperwork and sit downs with leadership. Most soldiers have grown up with Ellen, the queer eye for the straight guy and ru paul etc. so we are somewhat understanding of the gay plight.

But heres the kicker…it doesnt belong in the Army, and its not an issue of civil rights (because guess what: in the Army you have no civil rights lol) People dont care about your background, sexuality or creed etc. I hear Gay soldiers all the time talking about they should be all allowed to marry in the Army (why and or how could the Army possibly make it okay when its illegal in all but 5 of the states). Most people who comment on this issue have no clue about how the military works, they dont understand that soldiers are more opposed to openly gays serving with us because we live in almost clausterphobic spaces and to allow gays to serve openly is a double edged sword it will discriminate against both gay soldiers and hetero soldiers because we will have to be segregated.

Uuum I know there are some Black gay women, HOWEVER, I refuse to believe Black women are the major gay population amongst gay women. Where do they get this BS from. I know maybe 3 or 4 gay Black women, maybe. The rest feel the same way about gays as I do. I hate that we are used as mules every time they want to “prove” a point.
