From the NY Post:
Brooklyn prosecutors are eyeing stiff charges that carry potential prison time for the two EMTs accused of failing to help a dying, pregnant woman on their coffee break, The Post has learned.
The EMTs — Jason Green and Melisa Jackson — will likely be slapped with reckless-endangerment raps if the District Attorney’s Office determines they acted criminally in connection with the Dec. 9 deaths of Au Bon Pain worker Eutisha Rennix, 25, and her prematurely born baby, sources said.
First-degree reckless endangerment carries a maximum seven-year prison term upon conviction, while the second-degree charge calls for a one-year max.

[11:00 a.m. - 12/20/2009] – EMTs Who Let Pregnant Woman Die Suspended
From the Associated Press:
NEW YORK — The Brooklyn District Attorney’s office is looking into the actions of two emergency medical technicians accused of refusing to help a pregnant woman who collapsed in the coffee shop where they were taking a break.
A spokesman for the office said Monday it was investigating to see if any laws were broken.
The Fire Department of New York suspended Jason Green, a six-year veteran, and Melissa Jackson, a four-year veteran, without pay Monday while the Dec. 9 incident is investigated.
Home telephone listings for Jackson and Green are not available.
Witnesses said the EMTs told workers at the eatery in downtown Brooklyn to call 911 and then left when they were asked to help a female employee who had collapsed. She died soon after at an area hospital. Her baby did not survive.

[9:53 a.m. - 12/20/2009] – EMTs On Break Let Pregnant Woman Die
From NYPost.com:
A pregnant Brooklyn woman suffering a fatal seizure in a coffee shop in the shadow of FDNY Headquarters was ignored by two callous city medics who continued to buy their breakfast, eyewitnesses told The Post.
“The EMTs just said we had to call 911. They got their bagels and left,” said a disgusted worker.
Frantic employees at the Au Bon Pain at 1 Metrotech Center approached the FDNY medics at 9 a.m. on Dec. 9, shortly after colleague Eutisha Revee Rennix, 25, began to complain of shortness of breath and intense stomach pains. Workers immediately dialed 911.
“People were calling out saying, ‘She’s turning blue! She’s pregnant!’ ” said the witness.
But the EMTs appeared unfazed.
“I remember them saying they couldn’t do anything because they were on their break,” another worker said. “We started screaming and cursing at them.”
Rennix fell in a heap and began foaming at the nose and mouth in the back room.

On a much sadder note a (RACIST) person would save an animal before saving a black life, if she were a kitten she would be alive!
at 9:43 pm
This is what happens when (RACIST)people get hired to do public service jobs & BLATANTLY REFUSE to service BLACK PEOPLE! Karma is REAL!

WOW, ITS AN EMBARRASSMENT TO THE MEDICAL COMMUNITY…IT IS THEIR DUTY, ESPECIALLY IN AN EMERGENCY, TO GIVE THAT YOUNG WOMEN SOME HELP…I MEAN, THEN WHY DO THEY CALL THEM ‘EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIANS’….CLEARLY IT WAS AN EMERGENCY! WHAT THE HELL WERE THEY THINKING? I HAVE TO AGREE WITH BLOOMBERG, THERE IS NO EXCUSE….THEY GET WHAT THEY DESERVE..KEEP IN MIND THAT THEY WERE A REFLECTION OF WHAT US CITIZENS DEPEND ON IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY…WHERE IS THE TRUST? BETTER YET, FOR ME, THE TRUST IS GONE…AND ITS SO SAD…HOW MANY MORE OF THEM WOULD HAVE DONE THE SAME THING…NO QUALITY HEALTHCARE IN NEWYORK, ITS SO SAD…
at 9:21 pm
they just cold hearted and amature, they think they seen it all, the death, the killing, the pregnancy, and they may have and that makes some of them cold and hard, you think ppl gets soft working in hospital rehabilitate facility, the problem in this world that also make murderers think they hard is all because over populated uneducated world,if it was less ppl around they would more cherish life, but nooooo there’s always gonna be more to kill, more to slave in factory, more friends to make, more ppl to rob, to make more ego to build there emotion on, so what’s the solution, i know,do you?
at 3:32 pm
They should face jail time and get what they deserve. Honest to God who could do such a thing. I pray for her family.
at 8:27 pm
NO ITS NOT AN UNJUST LAW…HOW THE HELL CAN YOU BE IN A FIELD THAT HELPS PEOPLE AND YET YOU THINK NOTHING OF THEM UNLESS YOU ARE GETTING PAID…YOU ARE IN THE WRONG FIELD PAL!!!!
eTHICALLY SPEAKING THEY HAD A RESPONSIBILTY TO THAT WOMAN AND THEY WILL BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE!!!!
at 4:25 pm
it’s an unjust law.
at 4:24 pm
Frenzy_Hunter…Im sorry but a coffee break isnt GOOD ENOUGH to not even TRY to check on the woman. I used to be a nurse and there were quite a few times that I was no where near the hospital I worked for, but when I saw someone in need or had an accident etc..I would try to help. They may have ONLY been dispatchers but everyone in the medical field has to learn basics for healthcare. I work in med finances, thats just paperwork BUT we ALL have to learn CPR, anatomy, physiology etc. And just as fellow humans they should have tried to help because they had knowledge that the average person on the scene didnt have. They should be ashamed for not helping.
