Qualified people should get opportunities to show their skills regardless of what color they are and if they succeed that’s great and if they don’t they shoud be replaced. Regardless of how racism (i.e. hate) manifests itself, it cannot and will not stop the will of God. I think that as African Americans are energy should be placed on teaching our young people about how to harness their talent, skills and intelligence for use toward positive pursuits instead of focusing on the negatives that may try to derail them. Clearly Mayor-elect Warren did not let such negatives (racial slurs and rocks) derail his dreams!!

cyncynj you are so right. everytime i listent to black talk radio is always talking about racism and its so hard to make it and we need more money from the government for this and that but it never says anything about how much we progressed as a society. its stay focused on the negative to keep us with a victim attitude, they sometimes are so problack they start preaching racism openly and start to become the thing we as black people have fought.

As I read the posts there are some who seem to think that we as blacks have arrived. The truth is we still have far to go. So if all the “black” radio shows seem to talk only about racism then so be it. They reflect the opinion and the views of the black community. If a “Black” person gets elected in manner that President Obama has, then we have a right to celebrate that achievement. Not degrade it or ignore it. This website was created for blacks to come mingle,chat and whatever you do on the internet. Remember it has only been 45yrs since they enacted the Civil Rights Act(many of our parents still feel and share that pain) and we still have to have Congress vote to extend our voting rights. So to all the MISGUIDED! understand your history before you criticize!

Slowly but surely, we’re becoming more and more of an actual realization of Dr. King’s Dream. Time must past, and things have to happen in order to truly understand the meaning behind his vision. It’s always a great moment for the better in our country’s history when things like this happen. This country owes us so much simply because of all we’ve given to help it become the greatest nation on Planet Earth. This is a time for reflection and also time to plan for the future.

Slowly but surely is right! However we as blacks keep striving and thriving at an idle. This is truly an landmark for us all as people but we could and should do better! Sorry Amilkar but This country does not owe us crap! It’s about supply, demand, and stability. There are people who come from other countries that sees the American Dream. Once here they will do whatever it takes to make it and it won’t be just for them, but for the future of their families. I suggest everyone pick up copy of the William Lynch Letters and Thank you Blackman letter. You can also look it up online.

In order for great change, we must change our vision of the future. You can sit and wait for restitution or you can play the game of achieving economical wealth and stability. There’s nothing wrong with being educated, or attempt to speak proper english, after all how many languages do we Blacks people speak? Why do we try to take short cuts in the only language that our ancestors(slaves) would have kill to learn. Sorry Guys I had to vent! lol Congratulations Mr. Warren!

My angle really derived from the word “time”, “time to reflect”, and “time to plan for the future” was where I wanted to expand from. I understood and agree with your view point, but I felt the discussion needed to be put in a real time perspective. No more waiting, no more allowing time to mend and shape our future. No more reflecting, and as far as planning, well we should have been on track with that since slaves became free men. My argument is not with you it’s a wake up call!

Even though it is a very joyous occasion. I just want to clear something up. I am like realllyy really reallyyy tired of people assuming Newton is a racist town. It may be predominantly white; but an extremely large percentage of these uppity white mofckaz are Orthodox and Practicing Jews, from Russia and also a very large Armenian population. Take it from me, I work 40-80 hours a week in Newton. Contrary to what DRK_CHOCOLATE09 might think, Newton is not and NEVER has been a “KKK Town” or whatever the fck he was talking about. Newton was voted the Safest Community in America by TIME Magazine 3 years in a row. No threats in Newton….lol believe me! I’m tired of all these token offices being given to african americans – where’s the reparations. This is just like when businesses hire black men to make quota and get their tax cut, then fire them before they can advance in the company or even qualify for unemployment in most cases. It’s a nice trend but unless they start helping black men get jobs that they’re able to advance in, its just another meaningless victory to me.
