The Department of Defense has awarded a $1.3 million grant to Hampton University for breast cancer imaging and therapy research.
HU will collaborate with Eastern Virginia Medical School and the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility on a project to advance technology in those areas.
The goal is to ultimately lessen recurring breast cancer and increase survival expectancy, according to Cynthia Keppel, scientific and technical director of the Hampton University Proton Therapy Institute.
