This article’s title is misleading,but to answer the question GAY is NOT the new BLACK.

The issues are completely different.White gays want to high jack and throw in all civil rights together.It can’t work like that and shouldn’t.Yes there are thing that GAY PEOPLE as a whole goes threw but none compare to what BLACK PEOPLE have and do go threw.

Being BLACK AND GAY myself my issues are doubled and are completely different from a WHITE GAY PERSON.WHITE GAYS basically do not have any REAL issues concerning being gay,other than trying to get marriage legalized there’s nothing WHITE GAYS have to complain about.

BLACK GAY have more issues and things that we go threw. A couple of issues faced by BLACK GAYS are, OUTRAGEOUS HOMOPHOBIA in the BLACK COMMUNITY,HOUSING AND HEALTH.

The GAY ISSUES are different all our issues are not the same and don’t effect and concern all gays the same way.

And to address all the people commenting and referring to the bible, There are a lot of sinful things I’m sure that you have done.

WHO AMONG YOU CAN CAST A STONE THAT YOU YOURSELVES SHOULDN’T BE HIT WITH.

You can’t be SELF RIGHTEOUS when you’ve broken most if not all of the laws of the bible.

Didn’t they get the message with the spread of disease. it’s not natural!when the media focuses on a micro section in the black community it somehow becomes synonymous with the entire community. Homosexuality is contagious by by association. although there are those who suffer from hormone deficiences, there is no evidence that people are born gay.therefore, there is no sympathy warranted for a chosen lifestyle which increases the risk for sexually transmitted dseases. Even moreso, Homosexuality is more of a cultural fraternity of european origin,where people of like minds congragate and are open to experienment in devious sexual behavior, as a result,weak spirited black men fall subject to sexual perversion and manipulation. It would be interesting to know the statistics on the approximate number of early african americans brought here in chains and were gay by association. I would venture to say very few or non at all. sexual deviance or perversion is not synonymous with the black household, and is considered a perversion of sexuality,and is in no way shape or form is the cause of promoting homosexuality the equivilant to the civil rights struggle in the black community for the simple reason that one is a chosen lifestyle, and the other is a gift from God.so stop this perversion before the pleague grips your soul. it’s not cute nor is it funny, it’s sickness, seek help!!!

There are no names with the post so I will reference the times in which they were posted.
The post at 9:02 is accurate in that the phrase “Gay is the New Black” was used to reference gay rights today to Black rights yesterday. The post at 9:06, while it sounds good it is not the truth and an assumption of someone that doesnt want to see the truth.
I hate to hear the phrase because it undermines the struggles that all black people went through. It minimalizes all the shortcomings, opression and hate that existed. What gays are dealing with today pales in comparison to what blacks dealt with for Years/decades.
I just think they should come at this from a different angle as opposed to riding the coat tails of a people still fighting for equality today.

LOL the phrase the new black has nothing to do with race. This article is not comparing being gay to being black. When someone says it’s the new black they mean it’s what’s in style at the moment. Normally black is a staple in most people’s wardrobe. The phrase is often used in context with fashion but has recently spread to just mean what’s popular at the moment.

I often wonder why do people speak of things they know nothing of. Whether or not a person is born gay or not has no definite answer, therefore it shouldn’t be argued since no facts can truly back it up.

Oh please don’t get started with the bible. The book Leviticus also justifies the rape, murder and pillaging of neighbouring villages if they fail to properly observe sabbaths and speaks of stoning to death disobedient children or selling daughters into slavery. If you’d like I’ll pull the scripture for you.

People it’s 2009 Again, western civilization (yes that includes you) has evolved and with most people, our view of culture has evolved and widened. And NOT everyone wishes to live by the laws set by the religious standards of nomads who lived at least three thousand years ago.
