L.A. Woman Goes Missing After Being Arrested

Law enforcement agencies continue their search for a 24-year-old woman who’s been missing since she was released from the Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station in Calabasas early in the morning of Sept. 17.

Deputies arrested Mitrice Richardson of Los Angeles on the evening of Wed., Sept. 16 for allegedly failing to pay for a meal at Geoffrey’s restaurant in Malibu.

Marijuana—less than an ounce—was discovered in her Honda Civic, which was towed from the restaurant.

“She is a very reponsible individual and does not go into any establishment without intent to pay,” said Latice Sutton, Richardson’s mother.

Witnesses reported seeing the young woman drunk at the restaurant.

The family tried to pay her bill by phone, but was unsuccessful, Sutton said.

Richardson was taken to the Lost Hills station and released at about 1:30 the next morning. According to the Los Angeles Police Dept., Richardson left the sheriff’s station without a known destination. She had no identification or possessions with her and didn’t know the CalabasasAgoura Hills area, Sutton said.

A resident reported seeing her at about 6 a.m. sitting on a porch in Agoura Hills.

“This is not characteristic of Mitrice,” Sutton said. “There seems to be some kind of mental crisis going on with her.”

Her parents fear she’s being held against her will.

According to the family’s missing persons flyer, Richardson graduated from Cal State Fullteron with a 4.0 grade average and had just passed a test to become a substitute teacher with Los Angeles Unified School District. She was planning to pursue a doctorate in pschology, said her mother.

    White girl goes missing and within the hour is all over the media. Black girl goes missing and its broadcasted all over. Race plays a big issue in media coverage.

    Yep this is fkd up I agree with the parents its the sheriff fault and I did not know you could get arrested for not paying a $89 bill I thought that was a misd theft of services wow. God I pray this child is safe and ok somewhere a young woman left in the dark near the mountains and her car impounded.

    Can you imagine the danger that lurks in that type of area especially the type of (some)people they have living up in those hills.

    First of all, it sounds like a cover up. Since when do they let black people go free after being caught with “weed” in their possesion? They’re not telling everything. What I wanto know is who was she with at the resturant? If she was with someone else why weren’t they arrested also? Why didn’t they allow her to get her things after she was released? Why wasn’t she allowed to call whoever she was with and/or someone to come pick her up, and most of all why in the hell wasn’t she made to just pay for the meal right then. Do they even have evidence that she left the station?

    She was put out in the middle of night alone in an area she had no knowledge of because she was black,just like when police take young black teenagers to neighborhoods that are dangerous for them.any woman out in the middle of the night by themselves stand a change of being raped and murdered.that just goes to show you how much the racist part of the sheriffs department care about the safety of a black woman or any black person.
