as a survivor of foster care I can tell you that these kind of incidents are all too common. The sad part is that Black boys and girls are the hardest of any race to find homes for, and if they arent adopted before 5 then they will most likely remain in the foster care system untill the age of 18 where the only options are the streets or prison. The Foster care system in this country is very unforgiving and the need for qualified foster parents far exceeds the children that are placed in homes every year.

what you should really be asking is why the articles on this same story on CNN and other media websites never mention the race of this child. As for the person saying black children shouldn’t be adopted by white parent…that is pure ignorance. I think any time a black child can be placed with a decent and loving black family that should be the first priority, but if they end up with a loving white family that will care for them and love them, then that is just as well. Abuse and molestation does not exist within the boundaries of race. There are plenty of black families both biological and foster/adopt that have abused and murdered children…but the news typically doesn’t care enough about our children to report on them when they are missing or lost. Children need love and protection and the fact of the matter is not enough good black families want to adopt black children…that is just the reality. This story made me cringe. I have a 5 year old brother, and every single day I drop him off at school I say a little prayer about his safety.
