From CrainsDetroit.com:

The U.S. Department of Education has granted $603,802 to the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History to fund the museum’s Cooperative Underground Railroad Education Partnership with Eastern Michigan University.

The three-year project will create online materials and activities to help students learn about the Underground Railroad and other African and African-American history.

The Detroit museum’s participation in the project is fitting, given its role as one of the five major cities that served as gateways to freedom for tens of thousands of runaway slaves seeking refuge in Canada, said Juanita Moore, president and CEO of the museum, in a release.

The project will generate a touch screen and multimedia gallery on Underground Railroad history, an academic game for high school students to go with that history, and an online course for K-12 teachers.
