Beleaguered Gov. David Paterson is getting some support from a home town NAACP, while the Rev. Al Sharpton tweeted against allowing “reactionary forces” to return to power.

A branch of the NAACP in Islip says it and other groups are planning a rally to support Paterson, who grew up partly on Long Island.

They want to show respect for the state’s first black and disabled governor and urge Democrats to let him deal with the fiscal crisis, not politics.

Where has the NAACP been for like the last, 10 years? On the back of a milk carton

Since Kwesi Mfume left this organization, I have heard nothing about this organization…IMO this Org has been ineffective for the past 60years!

Oh give me a break. I am a black New Yorker who is supporting Andrew Cuomo for Governor and Mike Bloomberg for Mayor. New York needs leader with direction and solutions. Paterson just don’t have the fire in his belly. The NAACP needs to butt out of New York politics. We can’t let figure heads try to dictate there way into Albany. We need politicians that can hold the line on the left. WE DON”T WANT RUDY GIULIANI AND IF PATERSON RUNS HE WILL LOSE. Then we will be stuck with Rudy Giulliani and the reactionaries. It is bad enough New Jersey’s election is on the ropes with Krispie Kreme leading. That will change and I know Corzine will win. We still have to hold the line on the left in New York so that the stimulus money can get to those who need it most. We can’t let the reactionaries in our constituency and if EGOMANIAC Paterson wants to believe he can win the state house then let him run, but I encourage all New Yorkers on the left who want to hold the line and prevent the reactionaries from taking over VOTE ANDREW CUOMO. It just makes sense.

… and this election ain’t got s**t to do with being black. It’s all about the ideology of compassion. New Yorkers who are struggling during this economic recovery period must hold the line so that everyone will get over the hill when the economy is back in full throttle.
