I will always remember Aaliyah.. I loved everything about her (even though I never got the chance to meet her in person).. I loved her muusic, which I still listen to.. to me her muusic will never die… I loved her style… the way she dressed…. she seem like she was shy…but she was fun and it showed….she touched so many people that was involved in her life.. to me she was different.. and that is what I love and still love about her.. I love all her videos….but the way that count my eye the most was “One in a million” and “Rock the boat”… it was just something about her that you just wanted to know more or what she was going to sing next.. I couldn’t wait to see her videos… I will never forget you Aaliyah and you will always be in my heart /.\ I have this symbol on my left arm to remember you by (smile) RIP AALIYAH.. WE LOVE YOU AND WE MISS YOU DEARLY!!!!

Aaliyah will always and forever be one of my most favorite artists. Not just for her sound and talent but for the positive outlook she had on life and how her beautiful spirit could be felt in her music. She is truly missed and loved by all. She was the original and those who mi mick her style and attitude owe it all to her. She made a lot of things possible for those in the music industry. Even though her time here on earth was short…God needed her in heaven and I am quite sure she sings for him always!!

  • http://www.blackplanet.com/Tayze_D/ Tayze_D

It is so hard to believe that it has been 8 years since this tragic event happened. I remember hearing my local newscast when this announcement was made. I was in total disbelief. I remember her when she first appeared on Star Search when she was about 8 or 9 years old. I thought she was very taleneted then. As she blossomed as a performer, I saw that her career was really going places… despite dealing with the “alleged” R-Kelly illegal under age sex/marriage scandal. She rose above that, and continued to be successful. From what I heard about her in the Industry circles, I have never heard anyone say anything negative about her. That is RARE these days when so many entertainers are selfish, rude, and self centered. I heard that she was a kind and thoughtful person to all she came into contact with. May she continue to be remembered , and her spirit rest in peace. She will continue to be missed.

  • http://www.blackplanet.com/Arrielle2007/ Arrielle2007

She is whats missing in today’s music. She was a triple threat (singing, dancing and acting), and a natural beauty. God has his reason and I will not question him but she had such a promising career ahead of her. If she was still here there would be no Beyonce, Ciara, Ashanti, etc. I miss her music and her presence. RIP Aaliyah.

Aaliyah was fly, On thing I like about this star she was her self. And that is what I like about her music. She was down to earth. And you didn’t see her half naked. You know Aaliyah was grounded with her work. And she showed other artist the way to be sexy and smart and you don’t have to expose your self to the media. As far as your body. I take my crown off to her for that. She was 1# in a million in yes she was. She have left her foot prints on are hearts.

I really hate we lost such a talented AND beautiful artist like Aaliyah, regardless of the many copycats or women after her, she will never be forgotten and can never be duplicated. She was truly one in a million. Rest in Peace Babygirl.. she died too soon at 22, watching her videos on Mtv Jams made me cry thinking about what she wouldve been today. She had so much potential to be even bigger. Love you Aaliyah 4ever and always!!!!

She always seemed so Angelic and Pure as a person. And her music was on point whether it was a slow jam or party song. As a dancer she was 2nd to none. That’s probably why out of all my R&B tracks I have more by her than anyone else to this day…

R.I.P…BabyGirl a.k.a Aaliyah Dana Haughton.

  • http://www.blackplanet.com/arozendaghetto/ arozendaghetto

What was up sistagirl, the one interviewing Aaliyah? Homegirl was just as tacky and ghetto as could be, especially towards the end of the interview. She was drowning Aaliyah out while she was trying to talk, waving her hands around in the girls face and spinning around in the chair like she was drunk. lol… they should have fired her after that if they wanted their news show to look halfway professional. Looked like they pulled her off somebody’s porch braiding hair and gossiping and offered her a job at the news station. lol… must be Benita Buttrell’s sister (In Living Color)….

Aside from that humorous clip, it did seem just like yesterday when the news hit about Aaliyah. And like typical media, I remembered how they all spent time talking about her song “Age Ain’t Nothing But A Number” and her minute marriage to R Kelly(the pee man) that was later annulled. Instead of talking about her great music, her one of a kind style, and close ties with her family, they chose to dwell on those little “imperfect” things.

Aaliyah was such a beautiful woman inside and out. A tremendous talent with a distinctive voice that made R&B music more refreshing to hear. So many singers in the game today all seem to sound alike, dance alike, and look alike… But Aaliyah represented something different. She stood out from what appeared to be common and typical Black female artists.

One major thing I respect about Aaliyah was that she carried herself in a sexy way but with class. A tomboy sexy, I guess you can call it. You saw a little skin, mainly around the mid section, back or whatever, but never did you see her letting everything hang out and booty popping all over the place like a lot of these young sisters are doing in the music industry now. Nobody’s perfect, but Aaliyah had a standard and kept that standard. She was sensual but not s**tty. She let her talent and distinctive style speak for themselves. For that I will always have the utmost respect for her. I continue to miss her beautiful presence in this world as well.

She’s gone, but will never be forgotten.

DON’T KNOW HOW MUCH RESTING IN PEACE SOMEONE IS DOING, BUT I CAN SAY, IF AALIYAH DID’NT SING FOR “GOD” AND PUT HIM FIRST, IT WILL BE NO RESTING,, AND IT’LL BE NO PEACE!!! WE CAN LIKE A PERSON ALL WE WANT AND THATS FINE, AND THEY CAN HAVE PLENTY OF MONEY, JUST LIKE M.JACKSON, BUT WE CAN’T PUT THEM WITH GOD, OR IN HEAVEN, MOST OF THE STARS TODAY AFTER DEATH, WILL OPEN THERE EYEN IN HELL!!!!
MONEY IS FINE, IT’S GOOD TO HAVE, BUT YOU CAN’T PAY ‘GOD’ OFF,, AND HE DON’T TAKE BRIBES, MONEY CAN DO SOME THINGS, BUT IT DON’T BY HAPPINESS, IT CAN’T FILL EVERY VOID, ASK THE JACKSON FAMILY!!, BUT ”GOD” CAN DO ALL THINGS, I’AM BLESSED JUST TO KNOW HIM!!!!!!! BUT THE RICH AND FAMOUS 99% OF THEM ARE GOING TO HELL!!!!!!!!!!!! TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT, THE BIBLE DON’T CHANGE,, SO WHEN YOU SEE PEOPLE SAYING TO THE RICH AND FAMOUS AFTER THEY DIE—>>RIP<> REALY IN PAIN……!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • http://www.blackplanet.com/smack_u_silly/ smack_u_silly

perhaps because i didnt grow up in the ‘hip hop’ era, and actually KNOW good music by people with actual talent, i just don’t get the whole ‘aliyah i love you’ shyt.

she was a flash in the pan, and not a very talented one at that.

her family pimped her out at, what, 14 or 15 to a grown azzed man and she married him.

i mean, she died young, and THAT is the true shame, but its not like she was significant…its not like she did anything GRAND for music, much less the world.

she was a fuggin ENTERTAINER. to build her up beyond that indicates an inability to differentiate between significant and insignificant.

Some of yall need to KEEP YOUR COMMENTS TO YOURSELF… This is a tribute in remembering Aaliyah… NOT what you think she deserves or how and what GOD she served…. She did more in in her life then anyone of you negitive people will do EVER! The reason she is remembered is because she had STYLE like NO ONE else, The voice of and SPIRIT of an ANGEL, The BEAUTY that reflects a piece of art and the fact that there was not a soul (IN A BUSINESS FULL OF MINI ME’S) like her. EVERYTHING about her stood out and even though she left us at 22 years of age she had more going for her at 22 then anybody at that age today in the industries of music and movies..

    CHECK THE RESUME B***HES

3 platinum album 32 million sold WORLDWIDE!

    Model for Tommy Hilfiger

Romeo Must Die (1st movie ever and SHE is what all the buzz is about)

Queen Of The Damned (LEAD ROLL and held her own)

The Matrix 2,3(started filming as Zee but died before completion recast to Nona Gaye)

Honey (Aaliyah signed on to play Honey Daniels after her death it was recast to Jessica Alba)

State Property 2( After her death the roll was recast to Mariah Carey)

Sparkel (A Whitney Houston produced remake after Aaliyah’s death production was cancelled)

The Aaliyah Movie (Bio pic due summer 2010)

At 22 years of age in love and engaged, At the HEIGHT of BOTH MUSIC and MOVIE industries then to lose your life in a way none of use would like to imagine leaving everyone with a big “WHAT IF” It’s like a fairytale with a tragic ending.. She may didn’t get the chance to try and save the world but the IMPACT,STYLE and SPIRIT she’s left behind on millions of people will never fade. The measure of Aaliyah’s life is not at the core of entertainment value its THE PERSON SHE WAS IN LIFE and the MILLION’S she touched through death.

Forever 22 One In A Million

R.I.P. Aaliyah!! Miss you as an entertainer!! You left your make on this world… now to other issues… We all have our opinion of what heaven and hell will be like, but the bible says judge not least ye be not judged. Mr_cj! If you don’t actually know what religion or god Aaliyah served, don’t be to quick to judge.. Not everyone who is a Christian hangs in the church 24-7… doesn’t mean they’re going to hell though.. pay closer attention to your reading of the bible and read it for yourself daily and stop going off what the preacher or a witness told you… it’s called a personal relationship with God… (if i was to be opinionated)for you to be on bp (a dating website {tell it like it is})your opinion on a way a Christian should act or be is pretty wharped (if i had an opinion). And ms Superbytch don’t take it personal… it’s just other peoples opinions… don’t get a wedgy over it… and oh yeah Mr_cj… the bible says that money is the ROOT to all evil… it didn’t say that money was evil itself… so the 99% stuff is just another opinion… only God for surely knows who’s going to make it to heaven and who’s not… be wise on your opinions because the bible says even the saints will be judged!!! Dang and i came on here to share the memory of one of the cuties entertainers in the business… believe it or not, i had a crush on u to ma!!! and for the idiot that didn’t know… she actually could sing

miss you truly, madly, deeply Aaliyah. i took the trip out to hartsdale last summer on the day of your burial to visit your grave. you truly were/are one in a million and definitely irreplaceable, love you. — on a side note, smack_u_silly should be smacked silly for that comment, it was so unnecessary. obviously you have no idea the impact that Aaliyah made in the hip hop/r&b industry or the music industry in general, so stick to what you know. and if you’re gonna diss somebody at least spell their name correctly SMH!

most of u pple are stupid.. specially u fake holy rollers.. god gave her a gift and she used it whether or not she used it for whatever..she did what she was put here for and that was to entertain.. find what u are good at.. yall make me sick.. and yes she is very missed.. i love her music still now today . she is a very good person u never saw her mixed up n the wrong things like some of the “entertainers” today. and she really had a voice unlike the autotune specialist nowadays so instead of hatin on her and who she is and what she did do ya own thing .. geesh.. always got somethin to say get on mah nerves.. You know it is really pathetic of some of the comments that were left on here. There is nothing wrong with saying Aaliyah was great and beautiful because she was what one may feel you may not, does that mean that we can not say job well done come on now. And then for someone to say that the rich is going to Hell that is a little deep because who are YOU to judge. Rich or poor it does not matter with God either way we are supposed to give 10% and try our best to live for Him. But it takes someone like the ones who left these comments to say something like that, because if that is the way you feel you need to check yourself and ask God help you with the nasty thoughts in your head. Misery loves company never forget that. I hope and pray that everyone can make it to Heaven, Satan is on the move and doing his job (can’t you tell) but you will not get to Heaven with a sour heart!

For those using a TRIBUTE to pay respect/honor to one of our R&B singers gone too soon as a “religious platform” (or a means to voice your NEGATIVE opinions) is misplaced and UNNECESSARY!!! Take that s#!t elsewhere ——>>>. If you don’t like Aaliyah or was not a fan of hers I can respect that but what I cannot respect is the fact you would come onto this thread OF ALL THREADS and voice your UNSOLICITED opinions!!! Who gives a fug what you think!?! Why even come on here with that nonsense?!? No One asked your opinion & nor do we care. Ugh!!! You are the reason why blacks cannot prosper/elevate as a people! Celebrating this woman’s life and acknowledging the contributions she has made in R&B is what those who “ARE” her fans plan to do. WOW, she got haters in her death (smdh)!!! R.I.P Aaliyah and God Bless the Haugton family :).

Aaliyah is/nor was like some of these singers now they have no dignity, and they dont care about being a good role model , she was able to be sexy but stayed far away from being trashy a true woman indeed
