Obama Post

From CNN:

Washington — President Obama is likely to lay out a political road map Wednesday for passage of sweeping health care legislation, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said Monday.

Gibbs said the president will talk about “the way forward” to pass a bill. Among other things, Obama is expected to advocate for an “up or down vote” in Congress if necessary, Gibbs said.

Multiple Democratic sources told CNN that the emerging consensus plan is for the House of Representatives to pass the Senate bill and send it to Obama. A package of changes that mirror the president’s plan would then be passed through both chambers under reconciliation rules, which require only 51 votes in the Senate.

@cali-Don’t worry, like most people who pay attention “he’s a black man, be nice” isn’t a part of my lexicon ;)

That said, I can’t tell you why YOU shouldn’t knock him, not knowing where you land in the political spectrum or how far along you are in your socio-political development. Which is why I honestly asked where you were coming from with your consistent criticism of President Obama’s administration, whether it’s the war in Afghanistan or funding under-resourced schools.

Your response if I understand you correctly is that you don’t see much difference between Bush and Obama. To ascertain the validity of the assertion, I would simply suggest comparing the first year of Bush in office with the first year of Obama in office.

Consider their proposals and stances on PAY-GO, the Bush doctrine versus the Obama doctrine, engagement of China, Russia, and the EU, containment of Iraq under Bush versus containment of Iran under Obama, investment in infrastructure and social welfare under Bush versus Obama, nominations for the judiciary under Bush versus Obama, willingness to subsidize college lending institutions versus the government engaging in direct lending, funding for research, technology development, and basic science, staffing/funding of civil rights division of the justice department, children’s health insurance reauthorization, environmental standards…and those are just a list of issues I could think of off the top of my head.

Now if your counter to that is none of these “differences” have manifested themselves is a dramatically different reality for most people, you are correct.

The fact is it’s taken us ten years to see the impact of robbing the treasury and borrowing from China to fund the Iraq war. It took us about a decade and a half to realize the impact of deregulating our financial infrastructure, and 4 decades to grasp the impact over-dependence on oil produced by countries that hate you has on our national security, strength of our currency, and overall economic well-being.

As such, I think you’ve taken a relatively strong stance in opposition to an agenda in its infancy. Unless you’re ideologically opposed to that stated agenda, your judgment seems somewhat premature.

    Eolufemi,

Hmmm, I dont knock ‘him’ personally because I dont know ‘him’ like that. He could be a great person…I knock his policies so far, as I would any POLITICIAN (not black man, but politician), that I felt didnt have ‘best interest’ at ‘heart’. Please don’t tell me I should be ‘nicer’ because he’s ‘black’, I am so sick of hearing that line.

Now I say to you Eolufemi…Give me some reasons why I SHOULDNT ‘knock’ him. And again I say, don’t give me the “He’s a black man” bidness..That one is played all the way out.
And my question to you is….Would you be concerned with me knocking the president if it was Bush instead of Obama? Because as of right now at the present I’m not seeing a great difference between the two.

@cali – At least you’re consistent. My question is: why are you obsessed with knocking Obama? It almost seems personal for you…
