Obama Post

From the Huffington Post:

While many Americans are wrapping gifts, President Barack Obama is pledging to personally wrap up health-care reform.

The Senate expects to pass a health care bill on Christmas Eve, and Obama told PBS’s Jim Lehrer that he would ‘absolutely’ take a hands-on role in merging it with the House version.

“We hope to have a whole bunch of folks over here in the West Wing, and I’ll be rolling up my sleeves and spending some time before the full Congress even gets into session,” he said.

This comes after the president has taken some criticism for being too passive and allowing too many aspects of health care reform to be compromised.

This is no more than what I expected. Obama’s influence will mean something now that the bill is in the conference committee. If Obama had tried to force any issues before the Senate would have attacked him and the system would have been further bogged down with a side show. I believe that Obama knows how to get things done and knows how to keep out of the bickering. We all know that the GOP offered nothing and only tried to derail the Health Care Reform Bill. Now that the bill is in the conference committee and they will be merging the House and Senate bills, the Public Option may be renamed but the results will be the same.
