I can’t change my skin color as a Black person. But a gay person can hide their sexual preference unless they are obviously flaming or butch. Being black is my heritage ,to be gay is a choice sometimes provocated by other gay’s or social influence. Gay’s already have civil rights as human beings in a moral society and have chosen to operate outside of nature. Then try to force the rest of the world to compromise their values. This is not an issue that African-American should support. This is not about the fear of homosexuality, which is what homophobia implies, this is about the opposition of it on moral grounds. In America, consenting adults should be allowed to do anything that is within the legal framework of this country, but what we’re talking about redefining something to accomadate an alternative lifestyle. To use a worn out cliche, marriage ‘is what it is’. Proposition 8 was not about defining marriage, marriage has always meant the union of a man and a woman in a life long relationship. Civil rights was NEVER, I repeat, NEVER only about BLACK Rights. If you don’t believe me, look it up. Second, EVERYONE has the same rights and liberties presented in our constitution. Read every single amendment and tell me or the person next to you that only certain people should be allowed to have those rights. If thats the case, then Blacks should not have been given the right to vote with the Civil Rights act of 1964, Blacks should not have been given equal education with the verdict of Brown v. Of course slaves should obey their masters, but slaves does not imply blacks exclusively. And the prohibition of pork was part of the Old Covenant, but God later established the New Covenant (to both jews and gentiles) that disregarded many of the former limitations — including pork. The problem is, if you start viewing everything as a “civil right” where do you draw the line? Will prostitutes soon claim civil rights violation? The distinction HAS to be made between civil/human rights, and lifestyle acceptance. Homosexuality is a LIFESTYLE choice, that gays and lesbians have been trying to legitimize for decades now. I give them credit for their organizational and unity qualities, in getting their agenda out there and supported. Blacks could actually learn something from that effort. This can be in no way, shape, or form, compared to Civil Rights. Civil Rights would apply to “civilized” people. I want to know how can you just make wrong into right. The last that I can remember, you cannot consider yourself married until you go down to that courthouse and obtain that marriage certificate issued by the government of your state. So you can hold as many marriage ceremonies that you want in your church, but if you never obtain that paper…it does not mean you are legally married. I dont think that you can truly be married and be gay. When God made the institution of marriage He said ” Man and Woman” period. Gays have more rights than people living together, which is why I dont understand why do they want to be recognized in that light as Husband and Husband or vice versa. Marriage is not a Right, most of the time it’s an obligation. For the interest of the state and the IRS it’s a civil agreement. I think this arguement has a little to do w/love and a lot to do w/finances. They want the right to sue their partners when things break up and get that 50% on community property. MARRIAGE IS A SPIRITUAL CEREMONY. If you don’t have faith in a God, then you truly wouldn’t know that or understand. The government’s only position with marriage is the license. Why do people without faith constantly try to tell those with faith that you are full of it??? If you are an athiest, YOU WOULDN’T UNDERSTAND. Allow me to address all does folk on here who talks about people committing sin daily and toting the bible around. First of all I am sinner just as any other man person on the face on this planet, the sin that I do commit is not abominable act “LETS GET THAT RIGHT.”

What does the Bible say about homosexuality?

Lev. 18:22, “You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination.”1

Lev. 20:13, “If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death. Their bloodguiltness is upon them”

1 Cor. 6:9-10, “Or do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, 10nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, shall inherit the kingdom of God.”

Rom. 1:26-28, “For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, 27and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error. 28And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper.”

Homosexuality is clearly condemned by the Bible. It goes against the created order of God. He created Adam and then made a woman. This is what God has ordained and it is what is right. Unlike other sins, homosexuality has a severe judgment administered by God Himself. This judgment is simple: They are given over to their passions. That means that their hearts are allowed to be hardened by their sins (Romans 1:18ff). As a result, they can no longer see the error of what they are doing. Without an awareness of their sinfulness, there will be no repentance and trusting in Jesus. Without Jesus, they will have no forgiveness. Without forgiveness, there is no salvation.

And last this GAY act will never be supported whole heartedly by the Black community we are spiritual people that is why we have been able to survive the hardship of racism & slavery etc., compared to any other race.

People pick and choose what they want to believe out of the Bible. The question at hand is “Is Gay Rights, Like Civil Right” and my answer is Hell…No! Take this example, If there are 3 people standing, you can tell there gender. If they are different colors, you can tell by there color. You cant tell if someone is “Gay” unless you ask/they tell you! The same goes on with the military, who cares what you do in your bedroom, can you do the job you were hired to do! Now if a openly gay person is in the military and say they got killed, is the news reporter suppose to say…Our first “Gay” person has died while serving the country? Marriage is spiritually ceremonial. Don’t make things so complicated, it was already explained earlier when the book of Romans was expressed. People are right you do have the right to choose, but to vote to allow is another issue. I would personally go and vote against it. I believe the reason African Americans are opposed to sexual orientation being attached to the Civil Rights Movement is the amount of time and effort required to make changes in the American justice system.

In society’s historical standards, our skin color makes us born criminals, therefore lawfully justifying horrendous abuses. The push by gay rights over the last decade is a drip in comparison to 400 years of seeking basic human rights. A gay person is gay 24/7 but only involved in activity that supports the sexual orientation aspect of gay less than 5% of the day, otherwise their living like everyone else.

Those of African descent can’t entirely conceal their heritage, gays can conceal their sexuality for an entire lifetime and not be socially impacted. No police force is ever going assault white men on the assumption of them being gay, but skin color makes blacks men clear targets, regardless of sexual orientation.

Gay white men are born into the same privilege as heterosexual white men.
Giving them civil right protection to have relationships w/other men does not reach the same standard of historical struggle used to grant civil rights protection to minorities, women, or veterans.

I don’t judge a person’s lifestyle. Same sex couples get benefits (employer medical insurance, dental insurance coverage, etc) that unmarried hetrosexual couples do not. I guess my thing is why does this quest seem to rest on the African-American people? Heck we don’t make the laws even though our President is Black. He’s getting push back on health insurance reform! I am so sick and tired of all these “Captain Save a “Person” rules and laws! Whose business is it who anyone choses to spend their lives with? I am an African/American Black Heterosexual, female and I vote we stay out of grown folks business! It is not our business to judge who should marry whom, who should have an abortion, who should be allowed to practice what religion and/or where. It is our business to protect ourselves, our families and our communities. These laws are control freaks heaven, they do nothing to enhance the positive and productive advancement of our selves or community. Stay out of grown folks business!

Look I don’t hate gay people, but for any gay person to associate there plot to obtain marriage rights, to not only the struggle to be classified as a human being by another race. But the senseless killing and raping of African Americans for no other reason than their skin color, being pulled out of their homes robbed, raped, beaten, shot, hanged and left there as a calling card for any other black person in the area that would step outside of the rules and guidelines that governed them in that day. And a great deal of this atrocity was carried out by the same senate, presidents, governors, sheriffs, police chiefs, that would never do to you all what was done to our past generations. True enough some gay people have been mistreated but it can not compare to the civil rights movement of African Americans. Because our movement didn’t start in the 1960′s and 70′s, our movement began the moment we were removed from our native land. In short your movement can not in any way to compare to the thousands upon thousands of African Americans that lost their freedom, heritage, dignity, history, family, love, respect, friendship, kinsmen ship, lives, and so on. Besides I don’t believe in homosexuality period but I digress and say to each his own. Choose something else to structure your fight for marriage rights after, like women of the 70’s burning there bra’s? I don’t know, But S.T.O.P the excessive comparative of Gay and Civil rights. I’m bout to drive the nail on the head. Homosexuality is an abomination before God. The white gays have used us to advance their agenda and us blacks fall for it every time. Gay marriage is not and never will be a civil right. God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah for this very same thing. The bible is right all by itself. The constitution is open-ended and did not have minorities and women in mind when the founding fathers wrote the constitution. It was only meant for white men. Gay Christopher Columbus claimed to be the founder of America which is totally false. the Native Americans founded America but never get the credit. Black gays should realize that whites don’t care baout their interests and never will. The old testament does say that we’re not suppose to eat shellfish but people should read on thru instead of readling partially. Most states in America, have voted to have marriage only between a man and a woman, which is great. I don’t hate gays. I love everybody. Im not condemning anyone becuz God can only judge us. Us blacks still haven’t gotten our 3 acres and a mule and permanent voting rights. I don’t agree with states doing DOMA initiatives, but I also don’t like when states try to legalize gay marriage. IN A NUTSHELL CIVIL RIGHTS would pertain to any right that EVERY citizens of the state should be obligated WITHOUT QUESTION. Blacks fought for civil rights because they were LEGAL CITIZENS just like homosexuals are LEGAL CITIZENS. That has nothing to do with RACE. IF you are a LEGAL CITIZEN and a CIVIL RIGHT (like marriage) is being denied…you can fight for it.

A CIVIL RIGHT should not be denied to a person because of religious beliefs of a majority. This is America.

Gay marriage is not a civil rights issue. How dare anyone compare what our Ancestors went through to gay rights. No, I am not gay bashing or hating. I love everyone with the love of God. I know people who are gay and have a cousin who is gay. I love him anyway, but I do not approve of his lifestyle. Heaven and Earth may pass away but what God said in His word will remain. Even at the end of our lives the only thing that will matter is what God said in His word. That lifestyle is sin. Yes, God has given everyone on this planet a choice, a will. Either we will choose life (Gods way) or death (our on way) If being gay was the way God created us, why is it that when two women decided to marry one of the women takes on a role of a man? Why do two men get together and one has to take on the role of a woman? Two men or women will never become one, because this is not of God. My heart goes out to all who think they are trapped in a man or womans body and live this lifestyle. Your true identity can be found in Christ. I have read alot of your all post about “Gay Marriage. Everyone has there own personal opinion about the topic. For those who are consider thereself homosexuals, you are right no one can judge you but GOD. GOD gave each individual the option either to serve him or not. We all make chocies some good some bad, but with the same breath we all have fallen short of the glory of GOD. Fo my people who are straight, I am a straight man, and I no what you all are trying to get them to understand. But once someone mind is made up there is no changing it (for some not all). Lord, does anyone know what the word “civil” means? Civil- of, relating to, or pertaining primarily to CITIZENS. Not just BLACK citizens. ALL CITIZENS (including gay citizens). Are we really so self-centered and stupid as to just make struggle for the rights of citizens synonymous with the black struggle, effectively excluding the feminist, disabled, and class struggles, simply to exclude homosexual people from being together? I think it is a civil rights issue. What right do we have to tell someone who they can and can not marry. We have always been a nation that stood on the pillars of freedom. There are certain rights that people, no matter their sexual orietantation, are entitled too. People love to quote the bible when it comes to things of their leisure. The Bible also lessens womens rights, it says that people should not cheat and steal and kill. People can always make excuses for cheating or stealing but god-forbid two people want to show their love for each other, its a problem. I think it is ignorant and wrong to deny gay people their rights. Just like we will be judged by God, let them be judged by God with all of their rights intact. If they want to get married who is it hurting? It is their right and their choice. Isn’t that what America is supposed to be about. I personally do not beleive in same sex marriages, but I do believe adult homosexually couples should have the right to get married. I do believe that it’s very racist to blame BLACK VOTERS for the fail of Prop 8 and other same sex marriages laws. Why are we the blame? The Mormon Church spends 4 million dollars to go against prop 8 but the Black community is to blame. Which says a lot. I will also stay this, I’ve never been in the closet for being black there is no way for me to hide my color, but when I see a white, black, man or woman there is no way for me to know for sure if they are gay or straight. I’m saying being in the closet is a good thing but there were no 3/5 rules, grandfather clause or Jim Crow for homosexuals. People will do what they want to do regardless. Do I agree with it? Heck no! But as a Christian, I strive to be more like Christ. That being said, hate the sin and not the sinners, people. Whether it’s legalized or not, they will find ways around it. Keeping it illegal won’t keep people from being in long lasting gay relationships. That’s between that person and God.

I wonder if smoking crack is a civil rights issue as well, hmmmm ..let me think. To me gay people are like crack users, it’s a preference that sounds addictive. I’m not here saying that people can’t do whatever they choose, we all have choices and decisions we have to make on our own. But, until I see gay people reproducing offsprings naturally the way God intented, then I’d have to say they’re just addicts to the flesh without any intention of reproducing. I personally do not believe in same-sex marriages either, based on my religious and moral views; but I was raised by my parents to respect and care for individuals despite their sexual orientation or personal choices; I do not think that same-sex marriages can remotely relate to the struggles and oppression we have faced as African- Americans; there is no comparison, and therefore, it cannot be classified as a Civil Rights issue.

But I DO know that this right to marry is not nothing more than gay rights leaders struggling to remain pertinent in a culture that is increasingly immoral. To Judge. Does this verse mean do not evaluate others and draw conclusions about them? Does it mean people can do whatever they want to do because it is between them and the Lord? Are we only accountable to the Lord and to no one else? Today there are many who believe this is the meaning of this verse. It sounds like a loving attitude towards others. But Christians are increasingly following the attitude of the culture.

Recently a voice has been heard in America. The statement is being made that Christians are a threat to society because they are intolerant of others. Christians are accused of being intolerant of homosexuals, adultery, abortion, and the beliefs of others. Some view Christians as a threat to society.

Unfortunately, some Christians have accepted this world view and are becoming more and more tolerant of sin too! There are Christian movements today that are encouraging us not to evaluate the beliefs of “other Christians” and to emphasize love. They say, “Downplay doctrine.” But this is not what Jesus is talking about. Unfortunately, the church is increasingly looking like the world. We are adopting the culture’s world view. Christians are compromising the truth of the Word on this and other fronts.

I dont know how someone can say that they honestly believe in the statutes, morals, principles, standards and commandments of God, then turn around and spit in his face with a gay marriage. Du u not realize that marriage is sacred and that God honors a marriage? Du u not realize that God made male for female and vice versa? Homosexuality is admonished 2 times in the bible . One in each testament. (maybe 3 if you count the passage in Galatians-9 about impurity; although i find that scripture frustratingly vague)
Hypocrisy, however is so well defined in the Gospels, that I cannot believe all of you who fail to see the hypocrite in the mirror.

Homosexuality is not a choice. Neuroscientists and other cognitive scientists will tell you of the similarities between the brain of a straight woman and a gay man, even in infancy.

Just because the Bible gives us license to be intolerant of others doesn’t mean we should. The Bible admonishes blood transfusions and multi-fiber clothing too. The bible also sanctions slavery and stoning ones own daughter. If thats where you get your values fine. Just stop being so selective about it.

Either you read the book and you live by it, or you dont and merely say you do.

It appears that the dim wit who wrote this article is not an expert in any of these fields:

2. Marital Law

3. Christianity and the Holy Bible

4. Biology

5. The Civil Rights Movement

#1 because it is alwasy intersting to me, that those who are in favor of gay marriage automatically label anyone who is against it as homophobic. And linguist would tell you that the word orignates from two Greek words. “Homos” meaning same/like, and “phobos” meaning fear. Hence, a homophobe would be someone who fears two like things, or in this context, someone who is afraid of homosexuals. Now no one I know is afraid of homoseuxals or gay marriage. As a Black, Christian man, I fear nothing, least of all homosexuals or gay marriage. I simply don’t agree with it.

#2 because marital law in the US has always defined marriage as the consentual union between one man and one woman. Now the gay marriage crowd wants to redefine what marriage is,and as such; wish to affect a change to the law. Well if I want to speed, should I then begin to lobby for the right to change the speed limits? How about changing the law on murder or robery simply because it’s what I and my small, select band of friends would like to do without being harrassed by the moral majority? All the homosexual community has is the same old argument about Prop 8, when it was they who got prematurely excited in California about the resolution, only to see it turned over later. The real issue wasn’t even legalizing gay marriage. You all just wanted the states to recognize your marrige. No one has ever prevented you legally, from doing what you do. But simply because you want to bend the established and natural law, don’t expect everybody else to go along with it.

#3 because it is not Blacks or Evangelical Christians that say homosexuality is wrong. It is the Holy Bible that says it. Why argue with Christians and the church? Argue the point with God! Christains are not homophobic either simply because they take a stand against gay marriage. They simply agree with the scriptures. They are also not being judgmental when they agree with the scriptures. Christianity does not teach a doctrine of hate against homosexuals. But it does teach against homosexuality and homosexual union as an acceptable norm. It would serve the gay community if they would actually study the scriptures, rather than inaccurately quote them or twist them to fit their personal agenda,thereby sticking with the facts.

4 because biology in this area totally agrees with God’s orignal plan. Man with man cannot reproduce. Woman with Woman cannot reproduce. It’s that simple. That’s why God created the woman for the man. That is why biologically, it takes egg and sperm to produce a child. No matter how hard you try, you cannot subvert the natural process and make the un-natural correct.

#5 because how can you possibly, by any method of logic; compare 400+ years of oppression to a relatively new issue? Furthermore, can you name one single homosexual in the US who was forcibly seperated from their family and homeland, shipped over the oceans bound in chains for several months, unmercifully subjected to demorilization, whipped within an inch of their lives, forced to watch their brethren being murdered, raped and molested, disenfranchised and stripped of all human rights, not allowed to vote or own property, etc.? How many homosexuals have had fire hoses and police dogs turned loose on them during their peaceful demonstrations? How many have been torn from their beds at night and hanged for simply being who they are? Been butchered and burned alive? Where are the signs on restrooms and restaurants that read “Straights Only. No Gays Allowed”? Where is the neighborhood where a house won’t be sold to someone who is gay? Which dealer won’t sell you a car because you’re gay? Which school has to send National Guard troops to escort gay students through its doors? What civil right has actually been violated in reference to gays?

Comparing gay rights to Black Civil Rights is like comparing an ice cube to an Artic glacier. The author says that Blacks can’t afford to be on the wrong side of this issue. The author needs to go back to school.

Everyone gets caught up in the religios part of it. That is a copletely differnt issue. Should the government be able to continue to deny citizens their rights? The answer is NO! It is that simple! I’m not gay so I don’t know how it feels not to marry the man I love, but I know that if I as a Black woman could not vote….I’d be marching up and down California state. Same concept people…..

What does black civil rights issues have to do with this???? Every time there is a civil rights issue, people all of a sudden want to bring black civil rights leaders, causes, affects and issues to the forefront…. This matter of gay rights, is not what we struggled and continue to struggle so hard for… Emmit Till and many others did not die for this particular cause.. I’m sorry if I sound so in-politically correct but, being gay is not a nationally black issue.. All too often, groups use us, our struggles and victories to their advantage in hopes to get the stew stirred up.. I have nothing against gays but, please, we as black people, have so much more important things to deal with… Things like; the honor student that got killed in Chicago, because he didn’t want to join a gang… Are you for real!!!!????!?!?!?!?!

To compare homosexual’s struggle to the black civil rights is an insult to every black person. A person chooses to be gay whether they want to admit or not.

Homosexual’s have the right to read, write, vote, enter in front doors, drink from the same water fountain as everyone else….etc. They can apply to a job, fill out an application without checking their sexual preference. In society if they want to hide the fact that they are homosexual, they have the ability to do so. A black person can’t hide being black.

Now they want to compare black people’s whole struggle, to them not being able to say “I do”. That is a complete insult and they should be ashamed of trying to guilt blacks into supporting there cause.

Marriage was instituted by God way before government, so it is a God issue. If you say separate from church and state, then the U.S. shouldn’t recognize any marriages at all.

But science has proven homosexuality is wrong by pointing out the fact that no species can survive on homosexual sex. Doesn’t take a bible to see that homosexuality serves no purpose other than self satisfation.

What scientific fact does a homosexual have to prove that homosexuality is a biological trait. I am pretty sure that most scientist with at least one brain cell will tell you that in our culture it is mostly due to sociological influences. As for the he-shes and the she-hes with physical traits from both sexes, those people suffer from a biological deficiency, a biological deformity, or a sexual hormonal imbalance. Because the homosexual community has gained so much clout during the last 40 years they have been able bamboozled the whole West to fight along their sides and die for their rights. You can love, suck on, kiss, and screw whom ever you please but don’t lie and say that it has been sanctioned by God. God help us. This whole thing is a joke.

OK… First of all I was not comparing the right to “sleep with someone” with Civil Rights, lets get that straight. The fact that they are denied their RIGHT to LEGALLY be married, the right for them to be able to get a marriage license what I was comparing to the civil rights.
Anything that has to do with the LAW, concerns one’s CIVIL RIGHTS. As stated in the definition I reposted. (Or was it too hard for you to understand)

Secondly – You are basing all your arguments on the bible, a book that contratdicts itself and was writen by men.
Learn to give an argument without using the bible and religion as your crutch. Personally, I think its people like you that keep others out of church. And just so you know I’m agnostic: So yeah I believe in a higher power. Is it God? In a sense yes, but not the way you represent him. If you want to look at it being gay people being discriminated against and targets of hate crimes, etc. according to the above definitions, then yes, that is a civil rights and human rights issue. HOWEVER… being gay is a CONSCIOUS decision. Contrary to what many gays say that they were born into that, no…it’s a conscious decision. Being Black is an APPOINTMENT by God, Creator of all human life. We were BORN with our skin complexions and other features, we did not make a CONSCIOUS decision to be Black. When Blacks are discriminated against and targets of hate crimes then that too is a Civil Rights/Human Rights issue. Though there is a common factor of both identities fall into the same category does NOT mean each issue should be forever linked to one another as a NATURAL civil rights issue. The plight of Black people is in no way, shape, form, or fashion the same as gays… we were born this way. Our ancestors have been tortured by the masses because of who we are. Our ancestors were raped of their psychological and emotional intelligence by their slave owners and pervertedly displayed like some sort of sideshow because of our physical attributes, which are a gift from God. Gay people never had slave masters. Gay people never were chased and hung by lynch mobs. Gay people never were victims of the Willie Lynch curse. Gays never were taken from their homeland to be shipped to some strange foregn place. Gays never been robbed of their idenities or their intelligence. So by far, do NOT classify the gay civil rights plight with that of Black people.

Also, there is nothing holy or sacred about being gay. To have gay bishops and priests performing holy ceremonies or studying in Biblical institutions is nothing short of a complete mockery of God and Churches across America. If you’re gay, be gay. But do not equate it with Black civil and human rights or epitomize it with the church or the bible. There is not one thing written in he bible that supports this. And no, David and Jonathan were good friends, not lovers as many gays try to allege. In fact, David was married to Jonathan’s sister, Michal, along with Bathsheba, etc.

If you are able to read @truthserumX you will be able to see that it says 100′s of years. Written out it means Hundreds. PLURAL not singular. Learn to read before you try to say something smart. Oh and it’s WOMAN to WOMAN since you want to try and correct somebody.

No one should have the right to tell anyone who they can or cannot marry. Black people should be ashamed for treating gays the way we were and still are treated in some instances. It’s totally are a civil rights issue. No matter what your personal opinions are no one should be denied equal rights and protection under the law. Civil unions are probably the best answer because it takes the religious part out of the equation. The language of Prop 8 and other anti-gay marriage is almost identical to the anti-mesagination laws of segregation that said a black person and a white person couldn’t marry.

I strongly disagree with most of you on here. To those of you who honestly believe being gay is a choice, you are too dumb and ignorant to even talk to. I am a very strong christian woman but I have no problem with anyone being gay. I know that our country has based quite a few laws and the structure of our country on God, but honestly why are you guys making this such a big deal? It’s actually illegal to cheat on your spouse, and it’s clearly stated as a sin in the bible, yet people do it daily as if it is nothing to be ashamed of. This isn’t a civil rights issue. Orientation is a choice. A reflection of the human psyche and how it develops as a result of environmental factors (which varies according to the individual. We all have sexual desires some socially decent some not…We have to be honest with ourselves about this. To make this a legal issue we are essentially saying that religious institutions should be required by law to defy their beliefs. We can’t LEGALLY force a social norm (fad or not) on a religious institution no more than a religious institution can force it’s beliefs on us. If people want to be gay and live together that is their GOD given choice (God wants us to choose the right path…remember that)…and if they want to give property or legal responsibilities and rights to their partner…that is also beyond the confines of church…but marriage IS within the confines of religion…and cannot be separated from church like most laws…but again, this isn’t a civil right, but a moral choice…the law can’t force morality because it’s not designed to decide (for the most part) for us….So while we can’t legally say homosexuality is wrong as it outlines in the bible we at the same time can’t allow for it legally, because there is no need to…

I’m a strong supporter of gay marriage. It is a civil rights issue. A human rights issue. I love gay people and I don’t have a problem about it. Religious people kill me about homosexuality is a worst sin and think that the other sins are ok to do. Religion is man made. I’m a heterosexual black man. This is deffinately a civil rights issue, i didn’t wake up one day and decide I was going to be a lesbian, it is not a choice that I made. It is the natural attraction to women that has been encoded into my dna since birth. Civil rights is NOT just about race and being mulatto AND gay, I feel that my marriage to a woman is NOT hurting anyone else. Our constitution should protect my right to marry whoever I want. How is this a civil rights issue? — As a Black American I have the right to do as I please within the laws of the land and the rightsd afforded by those laws.

But let’s not get it twisted. Those laws say “same sex marriage is not allowed as described by by the Judeo-Christian definition of marriage). So logically, they do NOT have that right unless the definition of marriage is changed and subsequently the laws that support it.

To change the definition you must change the way society thinks about marriage and gays. This is what you see happening right now.

And here is how it happens. You are being desensitized to the un-naturalness of gay relations by television / movie depictions of it as “normal”, “commonplace”. In everyday life, you are being made to feel you are a social pariah if you express dislike for gay behavior or gay people. You are being indoctrinated. That is the over-arching agenda of the gay movement. Once the perception of gay behavior is changed by society they can easily push to have laws changed. Then Gay Marriage will be commonplace in America (YIKES!).

This is the template they observed was used by Black Americans to make racial rights change in the 50′s thru 70′s. They are using the same template (media/tv, public perception shift then laws changed) for their activities. That’s why you frequently hear them compare their “struggle” to that of Black Americans (and it pisses me off too).

I personally think homosexuality is a psychological abnormality. It is NOT natural. Just because it’s been around since the dawn of time does not mean we as a society should make it acceptable for them to marry, adopt children.
Although we should be tolerant of this (and other) “abnormalities” we should not accept it as NORMAL.

They try to claim that the struggle of the gays is not dissimilar to that of blacks. If that is not an insult, i don’t know what is. Fact is it’s not debatable that black people are born with their skin color and hair texture the way it is due to the genes contributed by their parents. The same can’t be said for the gays. Parents of gays never know beforehand. There have been former gays who believe they were mistaken. Though it is possible for them to be born that way, any research or study on such a topic would most likely be tainted by their influence as their power and vast resources are witnessed almost everywhere. In these days, you face intimidation if you speak your opinion if such an opinion is in contrast to theirs.

So NO, this is not a civil right struggle of which blacks should support. Regardless of one’s religious beliefs, society sets standards on what is acceptable in that society. Sometimes it could be wrong but not in this instance though as without any restriction on marriage, people WILL marry anybody and ANYTHING that they can.

I don’t know. To be civil means to have freedom of choice and liberty; not to be discriminated nor repressed against. Question is does homosexuality fall under this category of civil rights? In a way it does. A homosexual can file a suit against discrimination if he/she feels they were just as a person can file a suit agains discrimination of race and sex. This country is confusing with their laws and rights. They say you have the right to live freely as long as you don’t live under illegal terms, yet, it is not civil to be gay. Meanwhile, this is suppose to be a nation under God, but because we have so many other religions in this ‘Nation under God’ we can not operate openly about Christianity in certain places because it is offensive to other religious groups. So they can come to the US the land of freedom and we have to respect their grounds, but we can not operate in receive the same respect in their countries. Just for the record, having civil rights targets other areas besides being BLACK. Hey, if everything else falls under having civil rights, why not include homosexuality. Lot and his family flee the city, and then “the LORD rained down burning sulfur on Sodom and Gomorrah — from the LORD out of the heavens. Thus he overthrew those cities and the entire plain, including all those living in the cities — and also the vegetation in the land.”

The men of Sodom and Gomorrah, thinking that the visiting angels were men, wanted to have sex with them. Those who attempt to explain away the biblical condemnations of homosexuality claim that the sin of Sodom and Gomorrah was inhospitality. While the men of Sodom and Gomorrah were certainly being inhospitable, that clearly was not all. The men of Sodom and Gomorrah desired to perform homosexual gang rape on the angels. Also, God never declared inhospitality to be an abomination to Him, while Leviticus 18:22 makes God’s view of homosexuality clear: “Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable.”

While Sodom and Gomorrah were surely guilty of many other horrendous sins, homosexuality was the reason God poured fiery sulfur on the cities, completely destroying them and all of their inhabitants. To this day, the area where Sodom and Gomorrah were located remains a desolate wasteland. Sodom and Gomorrah serve as a powerful example of how God feels about sin in general, and homosexuality specifically.

but anyway…For everyone that says it’s natural as skin color…explain to me how…how are we able to determine someone’s orientation at birth? We certainly can with race and gender…but how with orientation…and furhter what about hermaphrodites…how do they determine their orientation? Psychology has tauhgt us that self identity is a result of environmental variables (socially positive or negative) and how we all individually respond and interpret those stimuli as well as how they make us feel (social norms are one of those things). Sexuality and the need for sexual gratification is natural…but how we interpret our reactio to stimuli varies because of the complexity of the human psyche. So a man could receive a gratifying response from an animal and believe those feelings to be pure and sincere…but we won’t dare allow a man to marry his horse or dog…so what is so different between an animal lover and gay lovers? Both identify feelings based off sexual (not necessarily the actual act) gratifying stimuli. However both fail to contribute to the progression of society and the diversity of the human genome. I other words…it may seem cool when you see Ellen or Will and grace…but what does it really benefit our species and society. In terms of religion…God doesn’t want us to be forced to him…but rather to choose him…so if people CHOOSE the Gay lifestyle…so be it…he loves them as the much as the rest of us sinners…but to force a religious institution (which marriage is) as opposed to a civil union is actually what is unconstitutional…

For the sake of avoiding confusion, Obama is bi-racial. In this society, he is regarded as black. But when a black couple(non bi-racial) have an offspring, it is 99% of the time going to have all the characteristics of a black person. 100% black people don’t only consist of dark-skinned people, there are many shades. The point i was trying to make was that for you to make a black child, grab a black woman and man, put them together and nature will certainly take its course. It is not my job or place on this earth to judge or hinder anyone, gay or straight. I’ve had family members that were homosexual and repented before they passed from complications of the AIDS virus. Real talk. I’ve never meet a gay person that I didn’t have love for(though some can be a trip!) It is a person’s right to make that decision for themselves, but I would be at fault if I didn’t speak up and present the truth to others in a modern world where lies are being bred daily! God Almighty does not tell us these things out of spite, but out of love and concern for our well-being, not just our happiness!
