From USA Today:

Stephanie Jones didn’t waste any time firing off a letter to ABC once she learned that the musical chairs that followed the retirement of World News anchor Charles Gibson had landed George Stephanopoulos a promotion.

Since 2002, the former senior adviser to President Clinton had served as moderator of This Week, ABC’s Sunday morning political talk show. Earlier this month, he was named host of Good Morning America, replacing Diane Sawyer, who got Gibson’s job.

“As you know, none of the major Sunday morning talk shows currently features a minority host, and the lack of racial diversity is an ongoing concern we have urged you to address,” Jones wrote to ABC News President David Westin and Ian Cameron, executive producer of This Week.

Three years ago, Jones, who heads the National Urban League Policy Institute, criticized the “paucity” of blacks on TV’s five leading Sunday morning news talk shows — This Week, NBC’s Meet the Press, CNN’s Late Edition, FOX News Sunday and CBS’ Face the Nation. Next year, she will issue a follow-up report that credits the networks for making some progress, Jones told me.

why should they? Blacks are too busy hoopin and hollerin in church at that time or hung over from Sat night and aren’t watching these shows anyway. Instead of having some 1950′s type sit/prayer/beg in’s, why don’t we pressure BET to have a Sunday morning talk show…Oh wait, BET is not owned by Blacks anyway, so they have no concern about us. Its 2010, this begging of other folks to be fair to us makes me sick to my stomach!!!

Miss Jones, why don’t you put your efforts to better use by soliciting Oprah, Cosby or Tyra Banks to produce a show for us, by us because we aren’t watching enough of these shows as a whole to warrant a black host.

blk folk didn’t demand or put enough pressure on BET when it was blk owned to develop a sunday morn round table news program or a even a quality mon-fri news hour! if we didn’t do it for our own why would anyone else?

oprah and cosby have done more than their share and it’s time for these others in the ent industry to step up. too many of’em want to a clothing and shoe line, cologne/perfume, liquor, record label and other BS!

we have many many individuals who’ve reached the top but as a whole, we are not where we should be.

Well what the heck are black folks thinking? As if we don’t have enough money to do our own thing. Still asking for a restaurant meal instead of home made. I just get tired of always listening to the uppity slave asking the slave master for more land to sharecrop. Where is it going to stop? We are already dying cause we accept their ideas of good food; still breaking our necks to get out of bad neighborhoods (which we have created)I thought that the black man was free..I guess not..use the Tyler Perry plan people.
