I’m not sure why any of this is a surprise. Politics is politics, which transcends the color of its representatives. Republicans and democrats alike play games and manuever themselves to satisfy THEIR OWN interests, not yours! I predicted disappointment from all the Obama-zombies (some of you included) before Obama was even elected, and it will only get worse. I also predict that Obama will be a one-term president, which hasn’t happened to a democratic one since Jimmy Carter 30 years ago. There is a larger agenda in the works which is as old as the political system itself. It is foolish and naive to believe that “they” were going to allow one man to reroute this agenda. Politicians do not control the system. It’s the business community, who controls the wealth and truly pulls the strings of those people for which we vote. Blame the media industry, the mega-banks, the drug companies and the insurance providers, to name a few. Welcome to reality, folks. “Yes we CAN” only applies to those who ALREADY ARE..

I am loving what I am reading. It is time for others to take off your blinders and realized whats going on. Obama came from the bloodline as the Bush’s. After reading some of these “comments”, I just had to say a few things. First and foremost, anybody who bases their opinion of the President off this clearly biased, Republican written article is closed minded and ignorant to say the least. Second, the point of the health care plan the President is pushing is an alternative to what is available now, not to per say replace it. Anyone who paid attention in high school economics knows that competition is vital in a capitalist society in order to ensure that there are quality products and services available. Imagine if Wal-Mart (my “favorite” store) was the only store where you could get anything. They could offer you crappy products and goods and you’d have no choice other than to buy them because its all that would be available unless you made things yourself, and there’s only but so many things you can do from home.They could also set their own ridiculous prices due to the fact that they would be no one around to compete with them. Same with health insurance, which this current stuff is a scam in itself and needs to be challenged. You have to be healthy first to get it and then costs an arm and a leg to keep it and PLEASE don’t get sick or hurt. America is the only country in the world where you can have a heart attack, get the bypass surgery to live, then spend the rest of your life stressing out while working and slaving to pay for it, as well as a place to stay, food, utilities, and other expenses. Say what you want about having to pay for a doctor’s education, equipment, and supplies, but health care (like gasoline)DOES NOT cost nor SHOULD cost as much as it does. Now about this “change” some folks are looking for…guess what? One man can’t do it all, but he can get the ball rolling. If you want to see change, (which will take time. All of today’s problems didn’t happen over night and will take just as long if not longer to fix) help the President by getting people in the right offices so that it can come about, and more importantly, and better yet, folks should come together and help make whatever changes they need to make in their lives/communities themselves. If the youth are out of control, it is due to poor parenting and should be fixed by parents, not the President. If the youth are misguided, become a role model, take them under your wing and show them what is acceptable and expected of them. Folks need to become accountable for certain issues in society and neighborhoods and stop waiting on a man in Washington D.C. to solve your community’s problems. Yes, it is true that The U.S. Constitution only recognizes two parties(which is why Ralph Nader would never win, although I’d like to see what he’d do)and that the Electoral College does in deed vote for the President, but we the people give them that power to represent what we want and believe in. People need to remember that WE run the government, the government does not run us unless we allow it to. In closing, all Presidents, whether we like them or not, run for office in order to serve, help improve, and protect the country they love;if we like what they are doing and how they are going about it, support them and do what you can to help make their ideas a reality. If we don’t like what they are doing then respectfully make your viewpoints and ideas known and work together with folks who don’t share your ideas in order to make them a reality as well. Stop picking sides and harping on issues(or who’s right and who’s wrong, which is relative at best) and instead work together and and find ways solve and eliminate them. We may not be able to fix things and make all things better for ourselves, but we should pave the way and begin the process to make things easier for those in the future.

Obama does not have Our interests at heart. He does not have Our back. The only time he spoke to Africans/Blacks directly was attacking us. He blames all of Our problems on Us. He failed to mention how the CIA placed drugs in Our community, the targeting of Blacks with the subprime mortgage catastrophe, the police containment of the Black community(police beatings and murders, high Black incarceration, etc), the disparity between Blacks and whites regarding wealth, etc, sabotage, destruction, and murder of Great Black Leaders and Organizations via the FBI’s COINTELPRO…When Sean Ball was shot 50 times by police, he said that we will respect the verdict. Obama does have our best interest in heart. He does have our back. You and selfish others are so concerned about him speaking to us directly, we are not the only race in this country nor are we the only race in this world. We as a people have matured and have to continue maturing! By maturing I mean we have to be able to look at ourselves and see the big picture. Alot of the issues that we have in our community we need to change and we can not spend our days blaming the “white man”. The very issues that Obama is fighting for are the very issues that affect our community (Africans/Blacks) directly think about that one. Obama nor does anyone else have to spell this out, I get it. He didn’t fail to mention about how the CIA placed drugs in our community, he doesn’t have to mention any conspiracy against us, but what does have to do is change things. Part of the issue with MAJESTIK7 and like minds is that you have the “Kanye Syndrome”. You all want to whine and be acknowledged.

As far as Africa of course the problem is the corrupt leaders because they allow these things to go on. And what proof do you have and don’t talk about an article that he boycotted the World Conference Against Racism this year. And don’t speak for all the voters that came out as to why they voted you don’t know that, PERIOD. Actually that is quite insulting to say.

If you want to go to Africa you do so. I am proud to be an American. I am glad that I am an African American. Yes it is unfortunate the way my ancestors were bought over but we can’t change that we can only use it as a stepping stone. Yeah some of us have to work twice or even three times as hard. However, we as African Americans or any minority group that has risen through defeat can say proudly that we are made from the toughest stuff ever made and never forget that. Explosive article, I would even say as good as any Rush could have done. Some of the opinions stated are based on facts and others are based on feelings but none should be dismissed.

As a historian I’m often in shocked at how commentators as well as sensationalist such as Rush and unfortunately the author of this opinion are about history. To make conclusive statements about anyone in office for less than a quarter of his or her term is as foolish as calling a close race after the first turn. You could be right; you could be wrong but if you give things enough time your ability to be accurate increases. I’m not saying call the race at the end but at least wait until the half way point.
To the author: your insights may be valid but at this time they cannot be used for anything conclusive; although, they can become part of your evidence to support your final opinion which should be rendered after at least 18 months. If such a rush was made to judge the presidencies of Jefferson, Lincoln, Roosevelt, Wilson, FDR, Johnson, Reagan and especially Clinton the tremendous strides of accomplishments they all made would have forfeited in a rush of judgment which would have caused them not to be reelected or in the case of Roosevelt successfully seek a second non consecutive term..

I am not dismissive of the opinions stated but the only thing more naive than Obama’s belief that we would all willingly work together is people’s belief that change can come in less than one year. If our current state of affairs could have been fixed instantaneously BUSH would have already done so, simply to keep his party in power.

Yes Obama must be held accountable but we should not let our desire for instant change cause us to jump to conclusions that belies the complexity of the issues we facing today.

I said it once and I’ll say it again. WE SHOULD HAVE GONE WITH HILLARY. I just hope that black people don’t make the same mistake in New York by choosing Thompson over Bloomberg because Bloomberg is going to win this one. I also hope that black people don’t stupidly throw their support behind David Paterson because he ain’t gonna win.

I like Obama, but I still believe to this day that Hillary Clinton would have brought forth the change we need. Obama was all talk in his campaign and, as we can see, no action. Hillary Clinton would have nailed Health Care. She would have gotten the support by Congress and the Senate and she would have brought it home. This was Hillary’s baby.

Obama will be like Jimmy Carter, a one term president. I am a die hard liberal to the core, but if the Republicans rally up and put Sarah Palin on the ticket in 2012 I am voting for Sarah Palin.

The Obama Administration has spent 700 Billion bailing out the greedy capitalists, but I don’t hear anything about increasing taxes or returning the capital gains tax to 20 percent. Change will not come because the Obama Administration want to stretch out the rhetoric for their 2012 campaign. If the unemployment numbers don’t improve, Obama can forget about a second term. If Unemployment is not below 6 percent by 2012, bye bye Obie.

I voted for Obama, but I am starting to regret it! I hate weak leaders! Every time Republicans moan, Obama runs and hides! Obama’s trip to Copenhagen, really showed me where this man is coming from. What kind of leader pushes for the Olympics, why people are pushing for existence?! Not to mention the fact that, IN MY OPINION, Mayor Daley is a bigot who allows his police department to brutalize black folks! Obama can kiss a second term GOOD BYE!!!! Obama’s agenda is grand and large and everyone should check their history of politics when it comes to making major changes in this country. Of course you all are buying into exactly what the conservative right want you all to do. Start questioning every move the man makes and then kick him when you think he’s down. He passed a huge stimulis bill that was a major hurdle and a huge political battle. Here’s a little take on what’s going on right now with Obama and congress. Democrats have fallen victim to what always happens when there is unanimous majority in both congress and the white house. The republicans make alot of noise and organize anti-democratic campaigns. They lay fear in everyone and people see polls, which in my opinion are unreliable. Have anyone of you on here ever been asked about some exit poll on the streets? Anyway, they see these polls about numbers dropping and people unhappy the way things are being handled, so they stop trying to change things that might get bad coverage in the press. Also, Obama is in the same position as Clinton was in his quest to pass healthcare. Alot of the democrats in congress are up for re-election and are scared to possibly make moves that might cause them to lose their seats. Typical political bs and its the people that suffer because of the game being played in Washington. No one wants to address the fact that this man was elected at the worst possible time when the economy is so horrible and thousands of people losing jobs every day. The deck was stacked against him and put into a no win situation. He is guilty of trying to do too much at one time, but he knows the political game and is trying to get alot of legislation passed before 2010 elections come up. There will be healthcare passed and I think his party will realize that they can’t get bipartisanship and they never were going to have it. They will pass the bill that they want and that’s the way it should be. Bush and the republicans ran over everyone that got in their way when they were in power and didn’t care what anyone thought about it. As far as him going to Copenhagen to try and secure a bid for the 2016 olympic games, I applaud him for the effort. He tried to bring it here for not only Chicago, but for the country. Do yall small minds really think that only Chicago was going to benefit from having it there? Vendors from all over the country were going to have work. You think only builders and developers in Illinois would be the only ones working on everything to get the olympics venues together? Get me right if I’m wrong; Obama has tackled the biggest financial meltdown in HISTORY!!! He’s about to revamp, via health care legislation, the most powerful industry on the planet, the U.S. pharmaceutical industry. He’s in the process of undoing the military complex that we were warned about by Doug MacAuthur in the ’50′s! He’s got the entire U.S. auto industry on the verge of collapse. Not to mention N. Korea, Iran and their trippin asses!! That this man is under such scrutiny in the first 10 months of his presidency is indicative of the double standards we have in this country for people of color in positions of power. He’s done more in the first 10 months to correct what has taken DECADES to undo than any other US president since Roosevelt! Now, do I think he flip-flops on the issues when Republicans or some Democrats ‘take a stand’? Of course. Name me a President that hasn’t…. But I think Obama is one of the few presidents this country has had that’ll demand Congress to step back and take a look at the economic picture that was created by big business and enact reforms so that there will be jobs that will STAY. Who would think that America would loose some of the car companies that have died in the last ten or fifteen years: Olds, Plymouth, Saturn, etc. all gone because of CORPORATE GREED!! If you didn’t blame W.Bush, Clinton, Bush, Reagan, Carter, Ford, Nixon, etc. for CREATING this mess that we’re in, then you really need to reassess Obama’s administration; its only been 10 MONTHS!!

Let me say that I voted for Obama, and while I dont agree with everything he has done so far, in the short amount of time he has been in office, he has done a helluva lot more than the last few presidents had. As I see it, we as people of color are NEVER satisfied probably some of you didnt even vote, but yet we are the first to complain. While it is sad how we are killing ourselves, it is not Obama’s job to stop the madness. It is up to us, how many youth have you taken under your wing and tried to steer in the right direction? The way I see it President Obama has already done more for healthcare reform than Reagan, Bush 1, Clinton, and Bush 2….combined. The stock markets are up, economic experts are expecting the recession to end in 2010. Obama continues to try to work for the country as a whole while, clearly, a significant portion of the right wing party and its constituents are leading hate filled, racially biased campaign to counteract whatever he says and does.
