Sarah Palin & Michael Steele Team Up Against Obama

By News One April 17, 2009 3:52 pm

<br />

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin used her first out-of-state trip on a partisan agenda since the presidential campaign ended to challenge the idea that unplanned pregnancies are a nuisance that can be solved by abortion.

Palin, the 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate, spoke to an overflow crowd that organizers said numbered 3,000 at the Vanderburgh County Right to Life banquet Thursday night in Evansville.

Some in the crowd wore white “Palin 2012″ T-shirts. Earlier, GOP National Chairman Michael Steele had described her as one of the party’s current standard bearers, though he said it was too early to judge what her standing would be in three years.

Palin said the challenges she went through during her pregnancy with her son Trig, who was born with Down syndrome, gave her an opportunity to live out her anti-abortion beliefs.

She said she prayed often during her pregnancy, especially after tests revealed that her son, whose first birthday will be on Saturday, would be born with abnormalities.

“The moment he was born, I knew that moment my prayers had been answered,” she said. “Trig is a miracle. He is the best thing that ever happened to me, and I want other women to have that opportunity.”

She challenged the notion that children must be born perfect and that unplanned pregnancies are inconvenient and can be ended by abortion. “I know for sure my son is perfect just as he is, made in the image of God,” she said.

She asked the crowd to keep working for the “culture of life” in America.

“Life is ordained, life is precious,” she said.

She also said that like Steele’s adopted mother, women who can’t give birth to their own children should have the opportunity to adopt children who might otherwise have been aborted.

She mentioned that her daughter, Bristol, became pregnant as an unmarried teen and has since given birth to a son.

Palin also took President Barack Obama to task for his support of abortion rights and embryonic stem cell research.

She said deciding when babies get human rights isn’t above her pay grade, a reference to Obama’s response to a question from the Rev. Rick Warren last year. Obama said such questions were above his pay grade.

She received at least two standing ovations. After the speech, she addressed an overflow crowd in another room and thanked them for their support.

During a news conference earlier, Steele said Palin is among a crowd of current GOP standard bearers that also includes fellow governors Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota and Mark Sanford of South Carolina.

“I don’t know about 2012. I think she is a standard bearer right now. She and Mitt Romney and Governor Pawlenty, Governor Sanford, Rudy Giuliani, Eric Cantor, Mike Pence. We have a significant number of men and women in our party who are in a very good position right now to carry forward the standard of the GOP,” Steele said.

Pence of Indiana and Cantor of Virginia are congressmen. Many in the party also look to Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal as a presidential favorite in 2012.

Palin hasn’t ruled out a presidential run in 2012.

Palin was cheered wildly by supporters as she entered the banquet hall with her husband, Todd. She stopped to sign autographs before taking her seat at a table.

Palin and her husband also were expected to attend a breakfast this morning with S.M.I.L.E., a nonprofit support organization for people with family members who have Down syndrome.

Palin should return to Alaska and raise her family stop the drama and take Steele with her. I have seen her in action with John McCain and her racial remarks. We are all Americans if we live and work here as citizens when will they get that; every one have rights afforded to them under the Constitution of the United States.

abortion is a choice and needs to continue being a choice… its a women’s body and she should have the right to choose if she is carrying the baby. sarah go sit down and keep your chin up.

  • 4-20-2009 6:55 am

    Ok let’s add this up.
She was willing to work for Obama after the election was over.lol

1 the “RIGHT wing is pro-life but pro war.
    2. Against welfare but want people to keep children they can’t afford.
3 Talk about abstinence but want people to be ignorant about sex education, but have more sex scandals that a little bit.

These are old fashioned, want to repeat the past, and racist (yes racist) (remember the curious george in a suit doll?) people in general. The more you divide America the more damage you do to the country.

ALot of whites and some stupid blacks are still sad and mad because he beat two big dummies. For all the haters you can mark your calendar, he will be back for another term. Bush had to start an unneccessary war to get him back in office. Bush and palin are retarded. Mccain must have lost his mind chosing her for a running mate. She doesn’t know anything about this country. McCain, you would have been better off picking Jesse Jackson for a running mate or Mr. T.By the way, palin and mccain didn’t just lose the election they got torch, lol. Obama 2012 baby.

Sarah Palin need to shut the &%$* up. Her voice is annoying, her views are confused and dated, and she can’t get over Obama’s success. I wouldn’t want this lady to represent me in a Mcdonald’s line. Obama is doing alright. Never in my lifetime has a president address many issues as Obama and people like Palin can’t take it. She need to take care of her home and give it a rest. Obama has nothing to worry about if she run in 2012. Every Republican candidate will be trying to get back in so we have to listen to whining, stubborn Republicans like Palin and Rush Limbaugh for the next 4 years. If she wanted to make a statement, she should’ve joined a non-partisan effort instead of talking s**t. Nothing she is saying is helping. Yack yack yack!!

As a woman I feel that abortion is a personal decision. If a woman does not want a child trust me she will get rid of it rather it is by using a hanger, back alley abortion, making herself fall to have a miscarriage or worse, putting the child in a trashcan after birth. NO ONE can make that decision for a woman. This is supposed to be a free country. Just because she feels that way does not mean that way. What is she supposed to say up on the podium. Oh my first thought was damn I got a retardo for a baby. Of course she is gonna say he is perfect even if she thinks differently. But that’s her child she should love her child rather he has four heads and two cub toes. That’s her child. OMG. People worry too much about dumb stuff when you got people dying everyday overseas for nothing. Young people who never got to live life and will never get to live it. It’s sad. Extremely sad. and even sadder that we worry about stupid stuff.

  • 4-20-2009 12:46 am

First of all Barack Obama is not fully black he is white, so that make shim mixed, i rather Ron Paul been on the Ballot he woudl have defeated Obama easily. Just look up this information if you love your president so much, He is trying to set up a Civilian Youth Force (A.K.A A Draft) which is mandatory for 18-25 yr. old, he is trying to ban handguns and assault weapons (Second Admendment any one?) Also trying to make it illegal ot farm in your back yard without getting fined. Wire tapping and more privacy being violated more than Bush did, just look it all up, the evidence and doc**ents make him out to be a newer version of Hitler, ohh and Obama wants to send funds to Africa to kill black babies.

  • 4-20-2009 12:33 am

he black an she cant get over it plain an simple be a mama cause the career thing is a bust………..

  • 4-20-2009 12:14 am

I cant beleive shes fighting so hard to ban abortion and yet she supports killing people who are already here..(i.e the war raging right now). I think bottomline shes STILL upset because a BLACK man bumped her presidential goals..damn near every one is upset because a BLACK man is president…get over it Sarah, if she and McCain were God given and meant, then they would be in position…since she wants to talk about God

  • 4-20-2009 12:04 am

sarah wants women to give birth to babies with abnormalities? what kind of nutcase is she? sarah get over it obama is president not u! why didnt anyone make a stand when bush was pres? makin abortion illegal is ridiculous.

  • 4-19-2009 11:44 pm

    sara i have another question
how do you know that God hasnt planned for an abortion to take place? Life is in the heavens as well as in the earth!
God knows how he will judge and knows why people do the things they do! this makes me wonder why in the world do you think you can be president?
that is well above your paygrade. America doesnt need a soccar mom or pittbull with lipstick. America needs statesmen or stateswomen who know about world issues! Who know when to hold them, know when to fold them, know when to walk away, know when to run and they also need to know when to fight back.
i dont think you have to much of a clue on how to deal with people from other nations or faiths.
even the bible speaks on that one
    it is written
be all things to all men so you might save some! do you know what that means? or does that not count for anything?

  • 4-19-2009 11:37 pm

oh yeah didnt she think africa was a country an not a continent,im quite sure their just waiting for her silly ass to show up.an shes not thatwell liked in alaska the country or is it still a state, lets ask her she might know(not).

  • 4-19-2009 11:34 pm

    Sarah Palin
    now there is a thought
some people dont know when they are out of the league and out of the paygrade.
sarah before you run for president i have some questions
    is your house in order?
how is it you can make the choice to have trig and other women cant make difficult choices concerning her situation?
How is it that you think you know what is best for other women? when did God himself get off of his throne and put you in charge?
What makes you think that you would make a good president? please dont tell me because you are a maverak and can take on washington.
    why are you a fundamentalist?
Obama is in a class all by himself. You see bush and his cronies have destroyed the infastructure of america!Obama is trying to help all of the people in the USA! i guess since you think you have all the answers you should be president. I bet Hillary will be president before you.
    now take some advice
Step down tend to your own household and raise your children. Get a clue and repent for the arrogance you think is of God

  • 4-19-2009 11:26 pm

strange how the right(or is it white)to life movement dont mind dropping bombs all over the globe,an they love chasing people who dont agree with their stance on any subject under the sun,but keep in mind when they drop bombs and start wars its not just humans over 21 they kill.and poor mr.steele talk about a house nigga,i would say it might come to lite but vampires dont like the lite, blood sucking dogs need to go sit down an scratch an lick their asses.

  • 4-19-2009 11:24 pm

Some may see people who have abortions as being “selfish.” Well, maybe GOD considers it selfish to bring babies into a world when you know you don’t have the resources or love to raise them well. Or maybe it is selfish to walk out on the mothers and children when they become a ‘burden.’ I don’t know…but then again, I make no attempt to speak for the almighty.

Similarly, I could easily say that people who are pro-life consider their values to be more important than or above the values of others. I’m sure the bible has some not-so-nice things to say about arrogance and intolerance. I’ll just leave it at agreeing to disagree.

As for our troops fighting for justice and democracy, not everyone around the world wants that. Who are we to go into other countries and tell other people how to live their lives? Democracy is a value that WE as Americans have been fed. Though it may taste good to us, not everybody in this world needs or wants to eat that. Either we respect their right to life OR we don’t. Very simple…

Who in here was born to decide exactly what the gray line between killing and murder is? The end result is the same…a life is lost. It’s easy to make that fine line BOLD when you are out to make a political or religious point.

I’m a baker in my spare time, so I do know ‘yeast.’ As such, I also think we need to be VERY careful what we ask, wish or pray for these days. First, the right to choose abortion becomes illegal…then the right to die when GOD has determined our death becomes illegal…then the right to anything else as well. It may be only a matter of time before those who assume they have the right to decide who lives, decide they have a right to choose who dies, as well. Women and Blacks, in particular, recently escaped that and I will fight any kind of law that may send us back there.

I guess my bible needs an upgrade as well… because I don’t remember any verses about it being OK to kill in support of a death penalty or even war. I respect the values I was raised with but will try to keep my stones in my own garden. Naw…I don’t need an upgrade. I realize it’s GOD’s job to judge me and others on our many actions. I’ll leave it at that. No, I don’t think I would ever have an abortion but if I did, I will accept the consequences of my own actions.

Finally, there are some GOOD Christians and BAD Christians out there…regardless of the abortion issue. May we all, regardless of our religious views, make informed decisions. Stay blessed everybody…

HATERS SARAH PALIN IS BS IS LIKE JESSICA SIMPSON TRYING TO RUN FOR PRESIDENT

  • 4-19-2009 10:15 pm

Something thats always bothered me…ok republicans are anti abortion right?…now stay with me: George Bush was in office 8 years. How many babies were aborted in the 8 years he was in office? (the center for Bio-ethics says on average 1.36 million per year, since 1996 in the U.S. alone) I love the hypocrisy of the right wing. the truth is politicians care nothing for abortion rights, it is what it is. Just a stepping stone, to make it into the oval office and the stepping stones are people who seriously believe any politican who says they can change things.
