Now what I used to do is drop everything I was doing…and pinch their arms or grab their arms really tight…and walk quickly to the car. They quickly shut up cause they know what is coming. The more you travel with your kids and the older they get…the less they act up…you need to learn patience….especially being a parent…my kids don’t even dare to act up….I take all three into the store…and they put their hands on the cart…and i even let them pick stuff out…participate in the shopping…be strong…stop solving everything with violence…cause in the end…violence raises violence…period. Bond with ya child and stop treating them like a piece of meat. Raise them and they will behave…don’t raise them to fear you…raise them to distinguish right from wrong.

I come from a society where we believe that it takes a village to raise a child. I’ve been on the receiving end of a few disciplinary measures from people other than my parents. In this man’s case however he seems to have been having his own issues and that’s why he chose to do what he did. I personally think that that was a stupid move because I don’t think anyone calms down after being physically assaulted especially not a child. Ok…Honestly I have been in the store and seen a horrible child that I wanted to take my belt off and whip them. It has been a baby or 2 that I felt a albeit very small but a urge all the same to give them shaken baby syndrome. BUT I DON”T….Why?? #1 I am SANE!!!! #2 The child is not my mine nor any relation to me. and #3 I am too cute for jail. Parents who can not, or especially will not even try to control their kids is annoying but who has the right to discipline there child as they see fit, and no one should step in. Especially to SLAP THEM IN THE FACE!!!! He is clearly not stable. But honestly it would have been a problem when he told me to shut my child up or he will. He never would have got a chance to actually come back and put his hands on her. Because that was a clear threat.

Tried-N-True you are just asking for a AZZ kicking personally the sound of a child crying is very annoying to me, and I work in a children’s hospital, so I hear it all day long so the last I want to hear when I leave work is a crying child in the store or shopping mall. but no one know why that child is crying if the baby was not feeling good are if he/she is in pain and that the reason that he/she is crying so mine your own business. But unless that parent is being EXTREMLY abusive (and that’s fall under a very big umbrella) cause what one person see as abuse IE: Spanking, other do not and it’s that parent chose. As a hospital I am by law required you report abuse just a a teacher is. but (we) have to be very careful in this matter. But bottem STRANGER don’t but there hands on other people kids that could get you KILL.

I have a 14 month old daughter & I admit that there are times when she does act up in stores & gets fussy. I know that some people who don’t have children get upset over it but they got to remember that it is a public place of commerce & if it bothers them that much then they should leave. Under NO circ**stances is it ok to put your hands on someone else’s offspring w\o their parents permission. Who is to say that this man was not a convicted sexual predator or something to that like? When it comes to disciplinary issues, if it is not child-endangering, then it should be left to the parent. Me personally, all I would have had to have seen was his hand near my daughter & he would have awoken 4 hours later in the hospital wondering what happened to him & how he got there.

italianmami37, I don’t know whether you have any children or not but, I find it hard to believe that you would stand idly by while a grown azz man or woman struck your 2 year old)child across his/her face. A 2 year old kid is doing his job when he/she acts up. It’s our job as a parents to seek out why the kid is acting out and try to solve the problem. If you were having a bad day and went off on a cashier, or sales associate, does that give me or anyone-else the right to come up to you and strike you across your face or any other place? You can bet your booty, that if some total stranger walks up and hit my child, I’m going to try and make it so he or she will never use that limb again. If my kid needs hitting I’m very capable of doing so I need “NO” outside help. I don’t care what the situation is, was, or might be……NO ONE has the right to strike a kid especially a 2 year old. If you are having a bad day, you need to carry your old, tired, cranky, impatient, azz home. After-all we are the adults.

I am not going to sit here and lie, I want to slap some kids in Wal-Mart sometimes!!!! However, I have never gone through with it. I strongly disagree with this italian chick I think she lives in an imaginary world with talking butterflies and hobbits proctecting an evil ring, as a parent of a almost 2 yrs old I must say kids are not predictable, my son doesnt talk to strangers or fall out in stores or even really cries for that matter but I gave a friend a ride to goodwill the other day to drop off some old stuff for the less fortunate and while in the store my son saw a power wheel truck it was dirty and nasty looking still he wanted to play with it and I would not let him, he cried like I have never heard him, it even startled me a bit bc my son only cries when he hurts himself like fall or something, now I promptly took him out of the store bc he wasnt calming down and he was trying to jump out of my arms trying to get to it, had any one even gotten close to my son my defense would have been up had he raised a hand I would have laid him out. The real question is what was she doing while this mad mad slapped he child? He gave her a warning by say if you dont blah blah blah, did she think he was walking over to give the child a tootsie roll. I have heard that it takes a village to raise a child, but the village didnt give me the sperm nor carry my child nor pays support for mind so the village might want to fall back bc I will die for mine and do will anyone trying to harm him.

Further proof that people with kids these days, by and large, don’t raise their kids properly. A two yr old is old enough to be taught to shut up in public. They understand the word ‘No’ and they understand negative consequences (if you’ve taught/conditioned them). Sure, you will have to repeat yourself but that is part of it. Ok. Regardless of how annoying a crying child is, what gave him the right to put his hands on someone’s baby. This is beyond unthinkable. Here are some things that need to be addressed…
As a mother, no matter WHAT my child esp a baby (5 years and younger), should never allow someone to threaten your child. You are there to protect them. DO SO!!!
As for the child, thats a BABY! Now a VICTIM!! If people can’t deal w/ children crying, this, that and the third, guess what stay at home, or better yet, lock yourself in an underground basement and don’t come out to see the light of day. Animals make noises, you gonna beat them too…
As for the Man. I don’t care how old, how irrated, whatever. He just mad cuz he so damn old and no one give a damn about his a$$. All his kids prob don’t give a two cents about him, so he taking out his anger on a poor child.

Now… I am a strong believer of the saying “It takes a village to raise a child”. Although this story is extreme, as to we should not put our hands on children that aren’t ours.
