New Orleans is a city that needs Military control. I tried living in there but had to get the hell out of there. Blameing the politicians is useless because all politician are crooks. Your statement is false. The people that were destroying that community have gone back. Crime is worse than ever. Those of us that returned home to New Orleans after college to try to make a difference have not returned since Katrina. Too much red tape and too much bs. I would love to be home right now but I don’t have that kind of energy anymore. My little sister is still young, she went back. She’s making a difference. I’m proud of her but I worry 24-7 for her well being. The criminals have all returned.

Also, the lower 9th ward was full of homeowners despite what the news said. Those people had been in those homes for generations. While it was a high crime area don’t assume that there were no hard working people living there. Most of the crime was because the 3rd and 4th generations wanted to be ganstas.

@ 865blackprince, education and higher education are the key to preventing teen pregnancy, STD’s, drug use etc etc etc… These are facts when people are better educated they’re better informed and usually have the confidence to not give in to peer pressure. Usually…. I’m not from N.O. and don’t particularly understand the neccessity of such a statement from the secretary of Edu. I do think it could have been left at the situation is better than ever let’s be positive!
