It is an example of a company putting a crappy product on the market before they worked out the kinks. Anything for a buck, they are missing out on bucks by being hasty.

Now we see why Japanese computers are on the rise besides being better. I stopped buying anything with HP on it including paper. I travel internationally so I will let others who buy HP products know about this.

That’s a smart program. It recognizes the black person by malfunctioning. Once it captures your image it has no reason to follow you any more. Your image is put in the data banks for future references. He was the last black person to be seen next to a particular white person at a particular time on that camera.

Things like this are not glitches in software it was done deliberately (or at least was left in deliberately) and is something they knew about when they were developing it. You guys do’t realize the ramifications of this…a camera can and will now be able to differentiate a persons color and track them based on that…..when face recognition software becomes standard (and it will become so) in every facet of society you will be discriminated against technologically as well(they can just as easily reverse it to recognize and track only people of color as well) and they will be able to blame it on a glitch (atms (access to your funds), entrances etc.

This is so stupid. This has to do the the camera’s ability to let in enough light for a proper exposure. This happens when a subject is not well lit. Add to that fact that dark skin reflects less light than lighter shades.
This man claims he bought the same computer, and have it at home. Obviously he does not have a problem with the one at his house or he would have returned it.
Proper lighting condition would resolve the tracking issue. The cameras auto-focus is unable to lock in on the subject. The software is fine.
The only thing this shows is that maybe a better quality camera is needed. This will increase the hardware price of course.

My friend had a computer that only she was able to log into because it only recognized her finger print for security purposes. Maybe thats the same with the face recognition computer, hence the word “recognition.” Maybe she set it to recognize her face and he did not do the same or maybe something was wrong with that certain computer. I’m going to go out on a limb and say that the problem is that HP doesn’t have enough black people testing their equipment. Thats because they probably don’t hire enough black people for whatever the reason may be. HP probably did all their testing on white men and women and never thought about the issue of color. Its just a glitch they will fix.Its has nothing to do with race.
