VIDEO: MSNBC Reporter Mistakes Jesse Jackson For Al Sharpton

NEW YORK — MSNBC’s Contessa Brewer has apologized for mixing up civil rights activists Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton.

She made the slip-up Wednesday while introducing Jackson during a segment on homelessness.

Watch the video:

After the introduction, Jackson stared at the camera from a studio in Burbank, Calif., and said, “I’m Rev. Jesse Jackson.”

Brewer explained that her script read that she was to introduce “the Rev. Al Sharpton.”

She continued, “We all know who you are, Rev. Jackson. I’m so sorry.”

    I’ll say this a little differently than cwm299. Please intuit extreme sarcasm in my voice here: But of course, don’t you know how y’all all look alike to us white folks. Especially those of us who don’t have the sense to get our noses out of some damn script, to actually LOOK at the individual. Hell, what do you all want?!?!?!?… That stuff is just too simple to even acknowledge, he should have just called her Maria! Actually its just pathetic, inexcusable, beyond stupid, and I’ll quit there, I’m getting too worked up again. My wife says I need to stop getting to worked up about crap like this, but it really gets damn tiresome, after spending a lifetime living among and around brothers and sisters (since the mid 60s). I have seen so much progress since I got married and there only something like 120,000 people involved in interracial marriages of all catagories, to now where we’re talking some 10,000,000 people. The social interaction has gone from chatter at the office/work, to activities after work and on weekends, making it feel as though the Civil Rights movement actually did accomplish something, then we get Contessa the bonehead and all it represents.
