Satterwhites Restaurant on Atlanta has the BEST baked chicken and dressing and cabbages with bell peppers and carrots in GEORGIA!

When in Memphis, there are a lot of Soul Food Restaurants to visit; however, many of them don’t have very good food like they brag about. Southern Hands Family Dining in Collierville on US-72 and on Winchester in Memphis serve some very good food…Melanies in North Memphis on Watkins has some great food…And when you want some breakfast, visit Toarmina’s on Chelsea to get some great breakfast…Many Memphis Soul food Restaurants brago about their good cooking, but the food is often just dumped out the can and heated…The above restaurants actually cook their food from scratch…

Kansas City has PeachTree Resturants which are very good…They offer a buffet at one of them…

M & M’s in L.A…they have good soul food. I wouldn’t say it’s the best, but it is good! They just need to upgrade their restaurant!

I haven’t found a GREAT soul food spot in Houston. Which is strange since this is the south!

I am a North Carolina resident born in the Carolina’s. I have lived in and visited many states from Houston Texas to Louisville Ky and Flushing Queens Ny. Alanta Ga to Hampton Va and the best as well as my favorite Black resturant is Gladys Knights and Mr Waynas Chicken n Waffles. I promise if there was one anywhere in North Carolina it would get more customers then the cheesecake factory resturants and they get a lot of customers with their high prices !

Bert’s Grill on Main St. in Columbia, SC is the best place to get a pork chop sandwich or grill fried bologna sandwich. Absolutely mouth and finger smacking delicious. Bert’s Grill and Diner on N. Main Street in Columbia, SC is great place for oven cooked macaroni and cheeses, fried chicken, perfectly seasoned vegetables and peach cobbler. It will make your mouth happy.

I heard that BJ’s Marketplace in my hometown Chicago (on the southside), is one of the best soul fool restaurants offering good peach cobbler. Next time I visit I will definitely have to check it out.

I grew up on Amy Lou’s (not sure of spelling) on 75th Street in Chicago. I live in Indy now and some of the places have been hit and miss, but Maxine’s chicken and Waffles is quite good, as is His Place Eatery

Simmons’ Soul Food Restaurant, Down to the Bone, and Floyd’s to name a few, but all in all, my kitchen is the best.

One of the best in the Atlanta area is Sweet Teas Catfish & Blues Co. http://www.SweetTeasATL.com. I’ve had the best catfish in my life there! No joke, and unlike most places in Atlanta, the sides are cooked fresh. And being from Mississippi, its rumored Sweet Teas is the only place in Atlanta to get Mississippi Delta Hot Tamales. They are great.

I met the owners and food at Taste of Atlanta when we walked up to their tent with downhome blues blasting from it and crowds standing around having a great time.

I am a real supporter of the owners who are young entreprenuers (highly educated) who left their corp positions to go after their hearts.

The food is deeeelish and the live blues each Friday is the real deal.

Just ask anyone who lives marietta area of atlanta.

In Atlanta it is K&K Soulfood is king.

I am also a native new Yorker and I have been to Any Ruth’s and enjoyed myself ! The soul food was very good! I also like Maroon’s which has an african american soulfood /caribbean menu.Its very small and intimate and its best to make reservations. They have a small bar, so you can order a drnk before or after your meal.Sylvia’s used to be among the nest NY soulfood resteraunts but that was many many yrs ago, and the food is no longer as good as it used to be. I have been to Spoonbread in Harlem, andf the food was just ok to me! Theybhave two locations though! I have never been to the Sugar Bar but hear that its wonderful. Its owned by Ashford & Simpson.

My favorite soul food restaurants are the “1300 Club” and “Farmer Browns” in San Francisco, and “Nellie’s” in Oakland.

I almost forgot in Atlanta Gladys Knight’s Chicken n’ Waffles spot is seriously on point. If your in those cities some of those are the spots to hit.

TallPaul7 Too much fat and junk in it. You may be right. But I will tell you I have had green swith smoked turkey legs and they are pretty good. But I still like smoke ham hocks or whatever pork they put in it.

But besides my late Aunt Marian. My favorite places are Glady’s in Chicago. Now closed because she passed away. I hear the family is thinking of reopening. Soul Queen on the southside of Chicago. BJ’s on southside is OK in a pinch.

Several years ago I attended a fraternity convention in Houston and the brothers gave us a list of places all of which I tried. Now here goes. Frenchy’s in teh 5th ward was unbelieveable especially their wings at 1 am in teh morning. nThelma Bar B Q right off from downtown near China town wa sincredible. get there early they closed at 5Pm. Mama’s on Main Street near the Reliant center wa steh best in US. Mama makes her menu daily on a card board.

Iwas at the Superbowl this year in Miami and got the best conch at Conch town on 17th ave Northwest. be leary of the neighborhood but I grew up near there so i took my chances.

In DC there is nthat restaurant on Florida street that is good. But you have to try the fish samiches in the sanck shop at Langston Golf Course off of the Anacosta river. I swear it is teh worse golf course in the nation. But it is worth the round just for the fish sandwich when you make the turn at the 9th hole.

The best in Vegas as far as i’m concerned is H and H Bar-b-q . The best ribs anywhere hands down . The give u plenty on the “Starvin” meal for ten bucks u get two sides , bread , and a gang of tender azz ribs w/ just enough sauce. Turns out, it was fish. The pieces were so big that they looked like loaves of bread and were hanging out of the sides of the container…LOL

Mr. and Mrs. G’s in San Antonio, TX. Only one problem, they close to early and aren’t open on weekends and they shut it down for family vacations and special occassions. I’ve been known to play hookey from work just to get there..
