The unspoken fact is that white Americans are disproportionately more insured by the private health care system whose doctors don’t report info on their patients. My WHITE gynecologist let me know this. Those women who you think are free and clear have some things you’ve never heard of and don’t want to see. On top of that (and I know it’s been said before), Black women are getting infected from somewhere and it’s been statistically “proven” that we’re less likely to date outside our own ethnicity. Turn off the sex-laced lyrics and videos, put down the sex-laced magazines and be mentors to the upcoming generations. Fill in the gaps where their (and our) parents failed.

The figures are staggering, but not surprising, even without bringing race/ethnicity into the equation. It’s always said that society is morally bankrupt and it’s a sad reality. People “bed hop” as often as they change their underwear in some instances so is there any wonder that disease spreads. Some can just make us sick but others can slowly kill. What should be even more frightening than the number of known cases is the number of unknown cases since not everyone bothers to visit a doctor for routine testing. Then of course there are those that knowingly go forth and spread disease because they simply don’t care. Like the guy in my area that has HIV but he continued to have unprotected sex with unsuspecting victims. He’s now guilty of attempted murder since he didn’t bother to disclose his problem. Of course if he had no woman would have had sex with him and the male ego can’t handle that.

Socio economic status has nothing to do with who gets a STD and who doesnt. STDs dont do a credit check…if any body has ever had a cold sore…guess what…you have herpes…cold sores are a stage of herpes…but the fact remains that everyone, EVERYONE must be more reserved about free love, everyone must become extremely scrutinizing and not just kiss or hop in the sack with someone so spontaneously, its dangerous.
I mean, quite honestly…I would invest in some toys and just bide time rather than risk my health for several hours of doing the DEW. Its scary out there, no matter what a person does for a living or dresses like…there is always that chance, always :( and with all the information and health organizations established to educate and provide services and monitor such things as STDs, there is no reason in the world for someone not to do regular check ups, there is no excuse at all :( having no insurance is the sole reason some of these non profits become established, for those that do not have insurance, so there is no excuse in my opinion.

In a way, it does. My statement dealt with Whites being more insured by the PRIVATE healthcare system, and individual, as well as group insurance is something that one has to be able to afford (do you know how many people forego group insurance because they actually need their entire paychecks?). Doctors don’t pull together stats on patients unless they’re doing research (and 9 times out of 10, it’s not from their own patients), but lower income individuals have to use the public healthcare system (clinics and these non-profits you speak of) and they DO report stats (as required by the US gov’t to keep their funding). The “po folk” then become the face of the general public, thus becoming the “problem.” No one is saying that lack of self-protection, self-control, etc. can be excused but there IS bias in reporting the facts.

You would be surprised to see how many wealthy people use non profits for their sex health care. ONly because their indescretions will be kept private and it will not affect their other insurance. I have a friend in the non profit health care sector and she serves way too many old white men that live in a affluent part of arizona and the statistics were released, this affluent community had the HIGHEST rate of STDs. Rich old white men playing dirty, but they were able to receive treatment with out it affecting their personal lives and thats what they wanted, they did not want to be see in their primary doctors office with their neighbors, so they skip on over to another part of town and take advantage of the small clinics that are being funded to fight STDs. I went to a party school and every time I looked up, the clinic was filled with antibiotic, pregnancy test-seeking, upper middle class whites (mommy and daddy couldn’t find out what they were doing this way). @Everyone else…This report is truly alarming and whether the numbers are accurate or not, everyone needs to play it safe and use protection no matter if you’re white, black, Hispanic, Asian, etc., old, young, gay or lesbian, rich or poor.

I have a friend who just happens to be a white woman who has genital herpes; her ex-husband (who is also white) infected her. She is now back on the dating scene and interested in dating black men. She is extremely careful and fully discloses her situation to potential sex partners. A few months ago she was dating this brotha who after full disclosure of her situation still wanted to have sex with her WITHOUT a condom…fortunately, she did proceed using protection.

So, it just goes to show you that everyone does not use good judgment and you do not know who your partner has slept with in the past and if they indeed used protection. It’s better to be safe than sorry.

the whole problem with this herpes s**t is that its directed at black people in the first place. I can truly believe the statistics to an extent b/c my friend who is black got hsv 2(herpes) from a black man. I would agree with half the black community though.
