Although I am not inclined to wear my pants in that fashion, I am opposed to such an ordinance to fine citizens for how clothing is worn unless bare skin such as the buttocks in this particular instance is shown. I am concerned not only with profiling but also with the prospect of constitutional rights being violated. Trends in fashion come and go but when precedent is established for something of this nature, one has to wonder where it will end in terms of ones freedoms and liberties afforded to us under the constitution. No one is harmed or threatened by this activity in terms of their public safety or personal property. The crime in this instance is infringement upon certain classes based solely upon demographics.

As much as I hate the droopy pants look, the mayor’s law won’t last long. It has no constitutional merit. The problem is, today it’s pants, tomorrow it will be ” all hats must be worn straight, no hats to the side”. Stupid as it looksthey have a right to wear their pants anyway they wish as long as it’s not Lude or obscene. If it were lude and obscene, the violators or that law would have been arrested already. Well I’m all for the no sagging and baggy clothing policy. there is a big difference. swimsuits and beach attire is made for the beach therefore its appropriate to wear that on the beach. now just plain saggin your pants to the point where your boxers or briefs are showing is just plain tacky. underwear, boxers, or briefs arent meant to be shown in public. It becomes anyone’s business when they are forced to look at indecency. if youre gonna sag, wear a long shirt over it so that it wont expose your underswear.

Look at how easily they take rights away from people and so many people don’t understand the principle of why passing a law against this is wrong until they come to take a right that you yourself value. For example maybe some people find women who wear any type of fake hear offensive….so now lets pass a law against weave and wigs and fine women who choose to do so.
Guess what else is offensive to a lot of people, abortion….so now lets pass a law making it illegal to have an abortion.

This Law would be about taking away “civil liberties”.

As much as I abhor sagging pants……it is the right of every individual to express themselves as they see fit. If they want to be the laughing stock of the community that’s their problem. When we start giving the authorities permission to make up laws for something one or two of us don’t agree with……..it sets the precedent for other laws to be put in place……for example, maybe banning blonde weaves or dreadlocks.

It’s a shame that it takes a law to make people want to look like something respectful. It’s not a black or white issue- I’m black as hell and I’m deeply offended by these dudes with their pants around their knees! The reason that they are called “undergarments” is because they belong “under” the clothes! It is a matter of indecent exposure, a woman would be arrested or fined for the same charge if she was just walking around with her thong out and her skirt around her knees (trust me I’ve seen them arrested for indecent exposure many times). But the underlying tragedy is that our young men basically fight harder to be stereotyped than they do the prove sterotypes wrong. Like it or not, if it walks like a duck and talks like a duck- it’s a duck! Something that I hope a lot of these guys will realize is that NOBODY is walking down Wall St. or Pennsylvania Ave with their pants around their knees. Sometimes rebellion is unnecessary, and no I don’t think that little kids should have to see grown men walking down the street in their draws- that’s what your bedroom is for! We have to do better, and it begins with talking accountability and acknowledging that sometimes good ol’ fashioned common sense doesn’t register so sometimes the law has to intervene.

The way you present yourself to others will be the way they treat you. In order to get respect, you need to dress respectable. Why should a governing body need to tell our youngsters how to dress; shouldn’t that be the job of the parents, or parent whatever the case may be??

Women are the nurturers and the father is (supposed to be) there to protect. Without a father in the home, who are the positive role models for these young men going to be?? A lot of their role models are “so called” celebrities, or anything that seems decadent.

The media is like God to some people; they believe or revere anything it spits out. And the media can only be revered if the parents teach the child to revere it.

Teenagers throughout history generally go against order or authority, and they follow their immediate culture/stimuli; which in this case is music culture or media dictates. The parents/parent have to be involved with their children’s lives and let them know who the real authority is.

The standards of decency, morals, ethics or etiquette in society has decayed to an all time low; so anything goes. To keep a child on the straight and narrow is nigh on impossible in today’s age, due to again, media dictates and entertainment/entertainers……which children have been conditioned to worship.

As mentioned before, if women used their power and rejected these males, their egos would be crushed; they wouldn’t consider it cool to dress that way anymore.

Don’t forget heterosexual males subconsciously try to impress women and vice versa…..because “the laws of attraction” exist in nature for procreation.
A male is like a lapdog to a woman when he wants to procreate…..he will do anything she wants.

Women have more power than they realise….but a lot of them have lost that knowledge!!

People seem to forget that there used to be a time when it was considered bad if a woman wore pants instead of skirts. I think the majority of the people supporting this law are being blinded by their emotions rather than using logic.
