I gotta get this issue! Positive stories on Obama are as rare as a transsexual unicorn. It just goes to show you how people will believe anything. And what makes it so bad is that these are so-called “educated” men and women. And as much as it may seem a “cop-out” or an “excuse” the TRUE reality is that Obama DID inherit this mess. In four years he’s NOT going to be able to straighten out what Bush messed up. He’s a starting point,but if anyone is to “blame” people should “blame” their “hero” Bush. Sit if it were up to Bush I’d STILL be in Iraq and he’d still be hiding out playing spades with Osama. Oh wait the American people are suppose to pretend that the Bush family didn’t know the bin Ladens. Wonder why you NEVER hear certain “people” bring that up? But certain “people” are quick to bad mouth Obama!

I think what Newsweek is concerned about is that, thanks to rhetoric created and promoted on Fox News, an alarming number of American citizens think something about the Prez that A) isn’t true and can be easily dis-proven and B) shouldn’t matter.

Yes there are many things that we could and should be angry at the President for doing (or not doing). But those things don’t include being a a Terrorist-Coddling, War-Mongering, Wall Street-Loving, Socialist, Godless, Muslim; I think that’s all that Newsweek is trying to say.

@BVince. Actually, he said he was going to hunt down Osama Bin Laden. There is a distinction. If you get OBL then mission accomplished, but to change that to Al Quaeda gives you license to stay there as long as you want since it’s impossible to eradicate an entire group.

Not having the war on the books doesn’t alter the amount of money spent for it. On the books or not, BHO is still borrowing to pay for HIS role, NOT paying down GWB’s expenditures. Why do you think the National debt/deficit is increasing exponentionally. There are many items that are not reflected in the budget (unfunded liabilities, Fannie/Freddie to name two) but they still have to be paid for at some point. All these Presidents play “kick the can” politics. WJC did it, then brags about running a surplus. He then hands over an economy in recession and a balance sheet where he used social security money to pay for some of these programs.

Wall street hates him? What exactly is that based on? We had the BIGGEST SCANDAL based economic collapse in recent memory. How many of these companies has the DOJ gone after for fraud? The “best” we got in the way of justice was Goldman Sachs 550K fine which represents about 2weeks of PROFITS for them. Wall Street wrote the financial reform bill. Obviously they had to make some concessions for appearances. But since the crisis, the aggregate wealth of those top investment banks has increased by 20-25% making them even bigger and apparently too big to jail!

Lastly, to the wall street issue. The new Consumer Finance Protection Bureau is still awaiting an appointment. Who is appointed to this position will be very telling about how serious BHO is about reigning in wall street. The most obvious and best choice for the job is Elizabeth Warren. I won’t list all the reasons why, but suffice it to say, Wall Street REALLY hates this woman because of her relentless pursuit of holding these guys ACCOUNTABLE. Geithner and Dodd vehemently oppose her appointment and want one of their wall street buddies appointed. We will see what BHO does.

Fox is a blatant sell out and in fact- NOT NEWS. They are obviously propagandist.
Even the Fox local [morning anchors] in my city spitefully salt absolutely everything they say about President Obama with dissent and sarcasm.
Every single morning I’m like, ” What the hell kind of yellow journalism is this”!
Although their programming is excellent, the morning crew turns my stomach before I can turn the channel.
I’m sad also because the channel they bought has a rich history here. I grew up with them

I am a naturalized American and i have never been so disappointed in anything as i am in how politics is been ran in this country. The people has let the few rich manipulate and twist their minds to a point that makes me feel that America has the most ignorant people than any where in the world. This is supposed to be a country where people are supposed to be educated and equipped with the mind to think independently, at least that that was what i thought we i decided to move to this country. We have let the right wingers tell us what to think and how to think it and the democrats; is that a weak party or what? they need to get off their rusty asses and defend their president instead of running for the hills. At this point, they are probably going to die if they do or not and i don’t know why they don’t just do. The right wingers are labeling the President with new tags every morning and no one is defending him, instead of that, they decide not to associate with him in other to save their sorry butt. What Rahm Emmanuel, the white house employees and the democrats need to do is line up all the Presidents accomplishments and ask the right wingers what they will do differently, ask them how jobs could have been saved or generated if the auto industry and wall street was let go under. Nobody is asking any question and it really makes me start thinking if the President is actually surrounded by good and loyal aides.

The Newsweek article comes after so much has already passed under the bridge. The real problem simply is the media feeds all the hogwash put out there just to get ratings. It sensationalizes, no matter where the truth is hidden. In addition, we must ask ourselves, “Is the American public so obtuse as to actually believe all the right wing garbage put out there?” Political party affiliation is no excuse for ignoring what is and has been good for the country. The right wing Republicans lose all reasoning when it comes to what this country needs. It seems to me that the FCC should Order Fox News to change its name to Fox Gossip or Fox Magazine inasmuch as Fox spews out other than “news” and “facts”. Hype and sensationalism is not what a news media platform entity is chartered to give the public.

The two are interchangeable. problem is even if we kill or capture Bin Laden; Al Queda is like that mythological snake the whose heads grows back. Obama has done little or nothing for the poor and for minorities. He pretends he can’t create jobs to stimulate the economy, so instead he goes with corporate welfare and the bank bailouts, again locking out minorities and the poor. Its going on 2 years, and I have to admit that i am very disappointed, as this president has looked the weakest. But thats what happens when your a president on training wheels your too worried about falling of the bike, to have a back bone and stand for something. The BP oil spill is another example of lacking leadership, and our country being at the mercy of big business.

It’s disturbing that people would believe the media, as media is supposed to put out the truth, and not distort reality. Obama IS for the poor, he implemented and signed a jobs bill into act to create more jobs. He developed and signed the american investment and recovery act also known as the stimulus package. This package didn’t just bail out big banks, and get our economy sluggishly rolling toward the positive again, much of this money is going toward rebuilding of our infrastructure (ie. bridges, highways) which employ transient, and poor working class ordinary citizens. When Obama took office and prior to signing the recovery act, the Dow Jones Industrial average was plummeting below 8,000, now it’s about 10,000! Implemented and signed the health care reform bill into law, which will help those who cannot afford health insurance yet make too much money for medicaid, the ability to finally care for themselves and family! Obama is moving to get all troops out of Iraq at the end of this year as promised. Only 50,000 will remain as training facilitators, and diplomatic security.

So What if Obama wasn’t born here and if he’s a muslim?!?! Many people who aren’t born here and are muslim treat people, it’s citizens, this country, and witholds values, better and with more respect than folks actually born here!!

Ever since Barack Hussein Obama was elected as the first black president of the United States

he, like all others, have been targeted by racist white folk within the mainstream media.

Most of his problems have been due to the color of his skin in the minds of some ignoramuses

which will always exist. Obama, even admitted himself, before he became president of the

United States that his experience in foreign policy was weak. I will definitely give this man

credit for the passing of his health care bill. Yes, it is going to cause the government and the

tax payers a little bit more money. Let’s face it though! Everyone needs health care along

with insurance. It’s just the way of life. One thing I liked about this new health care legis-

lation is that doctors can no longer discriminate against people with pre existing conditions.

I no quite a few people in this category. I was not crazy about him closing Guantanamo Bay

for foreign terrorists and bringing the prison to the United States, but I thought twice about

this. It will create jobs for some within this country. Then again, others have said that

bringing foreign terrorists into the United States would be added pressure for citizens as

well as law enforcement. Right now, the Obama administration needs to concentrate on

creating jobs everywhere. In some places within the United States, people are really

hurting either because they have lost a job, or simply can’t find one at all. This admin-

istration needs to concentrate on the type of jobs that are leaving the United States as well

as the ones that are slowly opening up. It seems to be the very jobs that are hiring folk are

all low wage paying positions. This is another problem. I appreciate Newsweek for straigh-

tening out these lies about Obama. I really think this man is trying to deliver all of the cam-

paign promises that he made after being elected president. He even said himself before

being elected that there were going to be some things that American citizens would dis-

agree with him on while being in office.

That’s what pisses me off. Bush”s lies and atrocities came with severe consequences and yet the media was silent to a dull roar. Obama gets in office and everybody goes into high gear with unprecedented opposition.

It is interesting how folks travel from board to board, to sling their bull crap about Obama. In the first place it is an insult for folks who are not African American to speak for African Americans. It is also an insult for those who are not poor to speak like they understand what poor people are going through. Of course, under Bush more people became poor then under any other President. Obama is making wise decisions which are assisting poor people, and People of Color. He does not have to make policies specifically for minorities, all he has to do is implement the laws on the books. When there is more food on my table and better health insurance for Americans, that is a victory. He understands that the Middle Class pays taxes and are in need of assistance. It is the same for poor people in America, that they are in need of opportunities to rise up out of poverty. The problem is that the rich and powerful do not want to pay their fair share of taxes. Everyone else is paying taxes, wherever you live, you are paying taxes on food, clothing, cars, utilities, etc. The only group that gets a tax free ride are the Super Wealthy. The wealthy people and powerful media (like Fox), are empowering the white racists, to go after Obama and his supporters. This is no different then what happened when the KKK operated in the south. They were supported by white politicians, and law makers, to kill and terrorize blacks with impunity. There are actually blacks who believe that Obama is the Anti-Christ. That is because hatred of him is being preached in the pulpits throughout America. Yet the media will not come against these preachers like they did against Revered Wright, or Farrakhan.

Let them keep coming to our boards with their lies, and we will continue to bombard them with the truth!!

I don’t pay no attention to the trash talking, complaints, name calling, jealousy, racist talk, put together words on the media, stuff people say that doesn’t make any since about our president. If everybody would shut up quit trying to do his job and make his choice for him “LET THE MAN WORK” The GOP said they wanted him to fail. The real point is you can’t fight ideologies. Terrorism or what is commonly regarded as terrorism is not unique to OBL. My issue transcends individuals and focuses on the system. Listen, before BHO, Goldman Sachs, the Pentagon, CIA, FBI, FED RESERVE etc. were in existence, and will be there long after he is gone negatively impacting the masses.

This has nothing to do with Obama, but it just so happens he is the one in position whose job it is to absorb all the critique/credit right now. Lets be real BVince, Presidents very rarely know enough about international politics, economics, public/private policy etc. to make these decisions on their own. These guys are at the mercy of their advisors. I keep repeating this, but WJC has now come out and said he received bad advice from (Greenspan, Rubin, Summers etc.) concerning the Credit Derivative Swaps back in the late 90′s, that led to this economic meltdown. According to public records, the Presidential Working Group consisted of all these guys but the one guy who was never in the meetings was WJC himself. He simply heard the recommendations from his people and signed off. Now it’s one thing if you can question the merit of the recommendations, but in order to do that effectively, you would have to become an expert at economics. Then it would have to happen for all other sectors too. Impossible for one man. This is why I laugh when people sit here and blame Bush for the last 8 years. Does he come off remotely smart enough to orchestrate this type of collapse? Before you answer that, I want you to keep in mind, that while the masses of Americans are suffering, those in power and sitting on money were NOT effected that badly. They take these huge risks knowing there is a taxpayer safety net if they lose the bet. Isn’t that what happened? Now go read about a company called Long Term Capital Management. Same type of HEAVY betting putting the global economy at serious risk, and when the bet went wrong, guess what? Billions needed for a bailout. These people don’t change!

Wealth is never lost is only transferred. Transferred from middle class and poor BACK to the rich.

This thing is BIGGER THAN ANY PRESIDENT, even those who have law degrees from Harvard.

Back to terrorism, as I said yes you can chop the head of a snake off and it may grow back, but if you attack it’s body: funding, Its finances, logistics, foot soldiers. The only reason why the Mob is not as strong as they once were is not due to a lack of effort, but essentially, the stepping up of other groups. There is much debate about if OBL is even still alive. There are many who think his Image is being kept alive to justify the stay in Afghanistan and the continuous bombing raids of Pakistan. If all those things you mentioned to break these groups really worked, terrorism would have been eradicated long ago. I personally don’t believe there is anyone trying to fully eradicate it anyway. Bush who within weeks after he was sworned in forcasted from his economical advisers that the country was heading into a recession. Through appropriate measures which included tax cuts the economy was stimulated and jobs were once again created in the hundreds of thousands. Also remembering history, we were attacked on Sept. 11, 2001 which the terrorist had hope would cause more damage to our economy. But instead Bush stayed steady handed even during the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and our economy flourished. Underneath all of this was the potential chaos as a results of the Clinton era Credit Derivative Swaps which Clinton, being just as clueless as most , depended on that is the economical advise of Alan Greenspan and others. Greenspan also advised the Bush administration during the earlier mentioned recession which Bush inherited in 2000 after being elected. You commented that we should not criticize President Obama for his making the problem even worst by more bad advise from his economical advisers as well as the unfruitful “STIMULUS PACKAGE”. Then tell me WHO DO YOU CRITICIZE, Bush? That old dog like they say “ain’t gonna hunt”. It is now on his watch. @Angilix. I think it’s a serious mistake to base the overall insurgent movement on a couple of “keystone” insurgents in the news lately. I think a better gauge would be the fact that they have been able to withstand a COALITION force for the past 7 years and still holding their own. On the flip side though, the two incidents you’re referring too (Young Nigerian brother and the times square) seemed so amateurish, that you almost have to suspend all ability to reason to accept that this is what otherwise well trained insurgents would send in the way of reps. I think we should also consider that these guys are interested in driving imperial forces from THEIR homeland, not necessarily waging war in someone else’s.
