Obama Calls Himself A Mutt

In his press conference today, Barack Obama addressed an issue that has caused a lot of speculation. He spoke to reporters on what the Obama White House dog would be. He explained that his primary concern was that Malia was allergic and that they wanted a dog from a shelter, adding “But obviously, a lot of shelter dogs are mutts like me.”

I agree! I was actually suprised by his comment given the level of intelligence President Elect has. Jokes at your own expense are one thing but to casually use a word that has been associated with a demeaning context is far from funny. Now people are going to argue that they can start calling bi-racial people that. Don’t give people the chance for an excuse to be ignorant!
I think Obama is comfortable in his skin but he has to watch his words now that he is the President Elect. He should
have a press secretary to help him with that.
There are many bi-racial Americans searching for identity and the President referring to them as “mutts” is
not helpful.
