O.J. Simpson Wants Appeal Because of All-White Jury
O.J. Simpson has appealed to the Nevada Supreme Court to overturn his convictions for armed robbery and kidnapping during a a Las Vegas hotel room confrontation with two sports memorabilia dealers.
The appeal arrived Tuesday at the Supreme Court in Carson City.
The former football star, actor and advertising pitchman asks the high court to throw out his conviction on grounds that include judicial misconduct, insufficient evidence, a lack of racial diversity on the jury and errors in sentencing and jury instructions.
The document criticizes the trial judge, Clark County District Court Judge Jackie Glass, and accuses prosecutors of improperly asking questions about allegations of witness intimidation in front of the jury.
“Cumulative error … was so egregious and prejudicial that the defense could not get a fair trial,” Simpson attorneys Yale Galanter and Malcolm LaVergne wrote in seeking the reversal.
Appeals in Nevada can take more than a year. Supreme Court spokesman Bill Gang said there was no way to know when the justices might rule.
“The amount of time it takes depends on the number and complexity of the issues raised,” Gang said.
Simpson, 61, maintains that he was trying to retrieve property stolen from him when he and five other men confronted the two sports collectibles peddlers in a Las Vegas casino hotel room in September 2007.
Simpson and a co-defendant were convicted last October and sentenced in December. Simpson got nine to 33 years in state prison. He is housed at a prison in Lovelock, about 90 miles east of Reno.
He was acquitted in 1995 of charges he murdered his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman. But he later was held liable for the deaths in a civil court case.

first you must realize, blacks werent happy OJ was aquitted of the murder charges because he was black, we were happy because we wanted whites to share the same pain weve been baring since we enterd this country, Medgar Evers, Emmitt Till ring a bell? It took the system over 30 years to convict the animals that murderd these 2 that spurned the civil rights movement. It doesnt matter if OJ committed the murder or not, what matters is the system found him innocent. the same sytem that worked for whites, should also work for other creeds, am i mad at OJ, just disapointed, he should have kept a low profile if for nothing else but white peoples hypocrasy. they have the habit of using different terms when we one of their own is in trouble with the law. take for example the young lady who is white and was a bible teacher of all things murderd and stuffed someones baby in a suitcase, instead of just charging her with murder of a child, everyone in the white community start talking about how depressed and mentally disturbed she was, the collembine kids who murderd students in colorado were referd to as troubled youth. when someone of color does somthing wrong, they are referd too as gang bangers. so yes im only disapointed in OJ because like one poster said and ive been saying all along is this is nothing but a witch hunt. they convicted OJ not for what he did in Vegas but what he did in Cali. So when i see blacks posting stupid garbage like a couple of posters on here calling him a murderer and this and that, the only thing i can say to you is, wait till it happens to you or someone you love. I lost my eldest son who was then 15 years of age, was murder by 4 whites in the state was Washington in 1995. So ive seen this racism thing first hand, and like him or not OJ was aquitted and should have been afforded the same perks as whites who have gotten away with tons of crimes for hundreds of years. Dont get me wrong, im not no kind of millitent black nationalist nor am im from the nation of islam (as a matter of fact i detest the latter), Im just a tired blackman in a country that claims in the constitution, liberty and justice for all, only if your white does these things come in to play. When it comes to racism, whites are hall of famers, its hilarious how they turn a blind eye to the hidious crimes their own kind committs yet they can come up with new terms when some one of color cries racism “the race card” is one of the biggest jokes ever in this country, statistically whites lead the country in rapes of children and women and serial killings. making OJ the poster child for murder is the only thing they can come up with when it comes to these kind of debates. My advise to OJ is to run like hell from anything resembling a white person if you ever get the chance to get out of jail and keep a low low profile, forreal this time.
O.J. got screwed. Whether he killed Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman is beyond me. The jury acquitted him. If the glove don’t fit…da da da. The all white jury in Carson City were on a witch hunt, and they got a little help from their friends at Fox News who has been on a witch hunt for O.J.’s head for the longest. O.J. should have kept a low profile. I think that he might win over the appellate court and have the racist jury’s decision overturned.
