OPINION: Stop Calling Black Republicans “Uncle Toms”

Black folks shouldn’t have their “black card” revoked just because they don’t share the opinions or conventional political views of the black community.
There is a troubling trend emerging in the black community relative to our freedom of speech and the right to dissent. I have been attacked and vilified, marginalized by some because I call for lower taxes and less government spending, and God forbid I try to talk about a strong national defense or disagree with President Obama’s handling of any particular issues. The smears come in a flood.
Just look on my recent Fox piece published on The Root or any other nasty vitriol coming, mostly, from black folks.
To be attacked or shunned for disagreeing (on occasion) with the black president, whom I voted for, campaigned for in Virginia (despite being a lifelong Republican) offends me deeply. I am proud of the Obamas, what they represent and what they’ve accomplished and no disagreement on policy will ever change that for me. And to have those policy disagreements escalate into racial name-calling is utterly ridiculous and a huge step backward.

Funny how democrats and liberals will doll out public aid, but won’t even consider vouchers so black kids can go to better schools, but independents, and Republicans want to. No one talks about that huh Trisha_369. No one talks about how this universal healthcare will raise (substantially) taxes to an already overtaxed populace, and just wait until “Cap an Trade” hits your already thin wallets. Your energy cost will go through the roof when that monstrosity gets passed. At some time the current administration is going to have stop with the “Cleaning up Bush’s mess” and own up to the bigger mess they’re making!

I watched the entire clip and Dr. Sowell has a civil arguement, though the syllogism doesn’t follow suite. Here’s what I mean…
Instead of just taking welfare away, what about making the mothers or fathers who recieve it take a math class, Then a money management class & lastly to get additional benefits and investing class?
For foodstamps have them take a class on consumer spending, how to save money with “smart/bulk buys” and top that off with a creative shopping course!
Sound fair?
I know it sounds alot better than cutting people off and having survial instincts kick in with the same ZERO OPP environment. That’s a recipe for high crime rates of all sorts a/k/a chaos.
