I agree with your entire list…but not one line of that excuses Blacks for not even TRYING to live up to their potential; being happy with accomplishing (really) nothing, because “the world (Whites) won’t let us have anything…we just do what we CAN.”

We need to know who committed the original sin, but the fact is..we can not afford to ‘relive’ that past every time we hit a roadblock. I still say that, overall and in the long run, we still come out as winners. I am kind of torn between two good trains of thought. “Rk” has a good point in that we should try to hold our heads higher then normal, But “SoularFlarez” wrote some real truth that says we already do.

In order for this dialog to work…you would need to define what you mean by “Champions”. Thus far it appears there is an attempt to compare “athletes and entertainers” to ordinary people whose goals, methodologies, drives, challenges, efforts and outcomes in life don’t match up. This is a much broader topic than “acting like champions” It has been stating in philosophical as well as biblical references; “So as a man or woman thinks, so is he or she.” To become a “Champion” begins with how one sees ones self in the world around them. After that comes the complicated tasks of living life such that a person grows and obtains some successes and failures in life to become their own definition of “Champion”

In regards to the article, I agree to a small degree in some part only because I hear the cry of racism just about everywhere I go nowadays, but at the same time I believe that Black people have behaved like Champions in taking all this brutality that we have seen and experienced in this life and many others and yet and still are willing to sit up, date, and even marry the same people and descendants of these people who have beaten, raped, discouraged, murdered, prohibited, and much more to us and still they refuse to admit that they have done or still do any of this to us or any others that they CLEARLY do.

I’ll just add that I champion in my opinion is one that continues to endure every trial and tribulation, and no matter what is done or how the opponent cheats, the champion can never be completely defeated, and wins in the end.

But I have been trying to get this dude to think first before jumping to conclusions but he came in with a mindset like no one else has already had this idea of “becoming champions”…

The point is that yes, blacks may not have the INFRASTRUCTURAL POWER but have the PEOPLE POWER and what is INFRASTRUCTURE with people? Nothing… That is the only real power that matters… That’s why no matter what differences of opinion we have, we must think first, what is at stake here? Is there a common objective? Do we all agree on a common objective if any? We may disagree on aspects but that should not be the focal point…

It is easy to beat an infrastructure by changing the mindset of the people… Right now, black america is caught inbetween wanting to be accepted by white america and also wanting to assert their african roots or identity in some form or the other… The thing is that the answer is not an easy one because people have to decide if they want to be in this system as consumers, constantly receiving scraps from the table or to become producers and calling the shots…

According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics 2004 report (released May 2006), blacks commit 54 percent of the homicides in America even though they constitute only 12 percent of the population.

An individual black male is seven times more likely to commit murder than an individual white male. It so happens that black felons commit 43 percent of aggravated assaults, 66 percent of armed robberies, 27 percent of rapes and 85 percent of interracial crimes of violence, mainly against whites (this last figure from a Justice Department report 2003). However, it’s not just in the United States. The greatest dicators in recent years have emerged in Africa. People like Idi Amin of Uganda, Hastings Kamuzu Banda in Malawi, Mobutu Sese Seko, in Zaire, self-anointed Emperor Bokassa of the Central African Republic, Mohammed Saidi Barre in Somalia, Sani Abacha of Nigeria, Robert Mugabe in Zimbabwe — the list is endless
