I dont want to get into a long debate about this but I will say a certain minority of white people are great at making minorities feel worse about a bad period in their people’s history. Not meaning that we as people of color should be grateful that our ancestors were beaten, humiliate, demean, dishonored, and desecrated. This is our history and it will remain apart of American history. There are no other country outside of Africa that black people has the power to influence social, political, and economical change; Black president, Senators, Supreme Court Judge, Congressmen, Governors’ and hundreds of black Mayors. This Country has laid a foundation for the upward mobility for any person of color. We live in a country that has never had a Jew, Asian, nor do Spanish portray the role as President in a Major Film. We are a nation that is continuously correcting our wrongs… in the last 5 year more that 22 individuals have been arrested in associated with human rights crime dating back to the late 50s. So just because a white person makes a statement that we may find unfavorable, that doesn’t mean all white people share in the same view. White people in large numbers have fought and die in every battle for freedom we fought. Why in hell should I be grateful for slavery?! I mean, besides it being a learning post on what happens when one race of people think that they’re better than the other…why should I be grateful? I’m sorry, but that’s just way backwards.

Should we be grateful? YES!!! Slavery is supposed to be the WAKE-UP call for all nations that defy God. It’s the same as a defiant child being disciplined for disobeying their parents. We must come to terms with our ancestors faults and trangressions. All nations have suffered slavery. No nation is exempt. The child will pay for the sins of her father. However, from the looks of things inside the so-called “black” nation, we didn’t learn anything from slavery. We are repeating the same hatred, lewdness, and slander that caused our fall in the first place. We are a spiritual people and we must return to our true selves, if we want respect and more importantly……Salvation. P.S. We could have been totally wiped out, if God had willed it. So be grateful that is was ONLY slavery that we suffered, otherwise we wouldn’t be having this conversation. P.S.S. If we dont get right this time, the consequences may be much worse.

One more thing. I am tired of people saying that the Europeans just came in and conquered us and took things from us, as if our forefathers were just punks or something. The only way we lost all that we lost is because we gave it up. We stopped caring for one another, we started fighting and murdering on another. We strayed away from our Heavenly Father. Therefore we weakened Ourselves. No nation on this earth was strong enough to just manhandle us. It is no one’s fault but our own for going into slavery. there have been more people and races that have been enslaved in the history of the world than just Africans…that being said I doubt that any of them have taken such a negative thing and TURNED it into a positve…yes I said it…Our ancestors that were slaves turned their conditon into a positive thing through faith, perserverance, and refusing to give up THEIR humanity and showing the world thier unbreakable spirit….It is just spin that ANYone woulod say we should be thankful for such a horrific thing. And whoever said it is an Idiot… But we have and are still overcoming the vestiges of slavery…I knowing world history I would expect no less from the people who not only started the first civilizations…but are the nexus and the beginning of what it is to be the thinking intelligent humans that ALL races has decended from.

I can’t tell you how many times i passed this article pondering how id respond to this. When one is greatful, one would say thank you in appreciation of something. To be greatful for slavery one would have to say thank you for beating, raping, mutalating, humilating, down grading, killing our ancestors. One would have to be able to say that what happened during slavery times up lifted and supported our perople the way that they should have been. Seeing as to how all of that is more wishful thinking apposed to the facts in all good conscience i could ask whomever asked this question, How dare they insult our intelligence and dishonor our ancestors by being foolish. In my opinion-HELL NO,im not grateful for slavery…if anything the white people shoud THANK GOD they found us. We are the ones who maded america what it is today & without us they a*s would be lost-because look at TRUE FACTS of WHO DID ALL THE WORK(BLACKS & INDIANS),while they (WHITES)sit on there a*s. Black people did everything,from being killed-to raped & taking care of there kids,cooking,cleaning, & a HELL OF ALOT MORE. Uh, RK. You should do a bit more reading on the accomplishments of the black peoples. Blacks had settled in the americas in pre-columbian times.

Now, this point of view isn’t substantiated by interpreting archaeological digs or some such. It’s substantiated by the records of the early explorers of the americas.

Africa is a beautiful continent. Sooner or later we africans would have found are way here! My parents are nigerian we have nothin to do with the black decendants of slaves… and guess what we made it and so did other millions. Yes there are some bad places in Africa , there are in other countries even here in america so s**t we shouldnt be grateful.
