If you don’t recognize his name yet, give it three years. Joe Wilson-read it and weep. He’s the nut that screamed out “You lie!” after President Obama explained that his healthcare plan would not insure illegal immigrants.

The genius of that scream, of course, was the fact that it sounded so impassioned. Like dude just couldn’t contain himself when in the grips of Obama’s overwhelming hypocrisy. He’s a hero of the underclass, this Joe Wilson. He’s here for the people.

Of course, Newsone readers are never suckers so I’m sure most of ya’ll recognized Wilson’s move for what it was immediately; pure politics.

See, there’s an element in this country that sees our current president as some kind of menace. They’ve gotten it into their puny minds that President Obama is also Teflon-if you ride with him, you’re a socialist; if you criticize him, you’re a racist. Therefore, they’ve been waiting for a man to emerge with the guts to (and how’s THIS for irony?) tell the truth to power.

By screaming “You lie!” at the weirdest, most inopportune moment imaginable, South Carolina congressman Joe Wilson declared himself to be just such a man.

Joe Wilson’s a man who, get this, once criticized the daughter of his hero, notorious Black-hating senator Strom Thurmond, because she had the nerve to admit that her existence was due to the fact that the great Strom had impregnated her then 15 year-old Black mother while the mother was a maid in the then 21 year-old Thurmond’s house.

Wilson considered Essie Mae Washington-Williams revelation an “unseemly” “smear”, while we’re left to imagine that he had no problem at all with his hero raping a teenager.

But let’s make no mistake; there’s currently a gaping vacuum as far as leadership goes in the Republican Party. There’s also almost no one in the party on the horizon as a potential candidate for president in 2012. By showing himself to be not at all above the old borderline race-baiting theatrics of his party’s recent forefathers, Joe Wilson has now positioned himself at the front of the pack.

The only thing that bothers me at all is that some people – Obama supporters, Democrats and even some Black people – mistakenly allowed themselves to take Joe Wilson too seriously. That’s exactly what he wants.

The proper response would have been to laugh at that clown.

The biggest issue I see with this outburst, is that it will only embolden others to be just as disrespectful..Those “puny” minds you speak of are the one common ingredient to any mob…..It only takes one person, one voice, to whip up a frenzy among those who are relying on their emotions rather than common sense and logic to make decisions…I keep saying this, as this unemployment rate continues to rise, and the recovery remains quite sluggish, you will see many more people starting to feel increasingly frustrated and will start to get more bold in their protests..We already see selective amnesia among many people when it comes to the policies that Bush laid out..It kills me that these tea parties are screaming about restoring the Constitution…Where was the outrage when the Patriot Act I & II were being signed?…These two acts were the biggest assault on the Constitution in America, yet no outrage..These tea baggers are being led around like puppy dogs by conservative radio hosts…Things are going to get a lot worse before they get better!

Blacks have always been told that they should forget all injustices.we are taught to respect the office of the president,I guess that’s if there is a white president, but for obama whatever is said and done is suppose to be laughed off like a bunch of fools.in all reality that means the office of the president is like one ring of a circus and the pres. Is no more than a ring master,in that case it due no respect at all.racism is funny onlÿ to racist.we would laugh ourselves right out of existence in a country that practices genocide of blacks openly.what if it were a white pres. Would it be funny then.” No “! And you know that white people would be up and armed ready to go to war.what he said was’nt funny it was disrespectful, but okay because the pres. Is black, it’s a joke, well ” no “!

It truly blows my mind that such an act would happen here in the United States, yes England and some Asian countries allow outburst during their parliament meetings or addresses; “NOT THE UNITED STATES”! This tells me the republicans will do anything to bring the president down no matter what or at what cost. I agree with gren1shaw2 if the president was white it would have never happened. We as black people are taught to respect the office of the president, but I guess when the president is black its okay to be disrespectful…”he is not my president”! The other day I was discussing this situation with my mother, she is elderly and happy to see she lived to see a black president in office, and she cannot believe how easily the American people are lead by these right wing nuts! People screaming “I want my country back”, “national health insurance will kill grandma”, “ Obama is not a US citizen” and so on…I would like to know where did the country go, how ignorance can you be to believe anyone would want to kill someone’s grandmother when the president stated “no one is going to kill grandma” over and over again, and did anyone notify Hawaii they are no longer part of the US. I am starting to believe just how ignorant some US citizens are! Both Bill Maher and Keith Olbermann said the American people are stupid! The more this nonsense continues the more I am inclined to believe such a statement “the American people are stupid”. With the mess the previous administration left behind we should be supporting the president to fix this and not fighting him on every turn he makes.
