From CNN:

Darryl Willis, from Louisiana, is Vice President for Resources at BP America and is the head of BP Claims Process. He testifies on Capitol Hill and is the face of BP’s TV claims commercials.  He is also a member of the African American Environmentalist Association .

Mr. Willis said that BP had initially decided to pay all captains $5,000 a month and all deckhands $2,500 to get the process moving, but that they would readjust and pay more to people who could show that they were losing more because of the spill. And he said claims adjusters were trying to work with people who lacked documentation, by accepting pay stubs or bank statements from some claimants who lacked tax forms.

“BP is paying all the bills right now,” Darryl Willis, the vice president of resources for BP America, told the senators.

“We are focused on making sure that the costs associated with this cleanup and spill in the Gulf of Mexico are paid and that the people who have been hurt along the Gulf Coast are compensated for their losses, and any federal costs that are associated with the cleanup are paid back to the American people.”

Damn, NewsOne…got me agreeing with _A_ again..

It’s almost as if BP (BlackPlanet) is just race-baiting their own people with nonsense headlines like this. Especially, since he is now representing a company that is currently under Federal investigation and is receiving the anger/threat from a few hundred million Americans right now…

See, it’s just like the office of the presidency, when the heat is on, put a black face on it and folks will back off and “give him a chance”…

But I heard that dude was the cat that warned them of the dangers before it happened…

I am so tired of this commercial airing. After Tony Hayward was criticized for wanting to get his life back, BP threw Darryl Willis on air. Stop talking and start taking effective actions to correct this part of the problem (which could have been avoided via safety warnings). Also, fire the dumba$$es that call themselves the Public Relations personnel. As for “making it right” (not mentioned in this article, but Willis says it in the commercial), that will NEVER happen because 11 people perished, which in turn left their families and friends with permanent emotional scars.
