OPINION: Did Jackson’s Music Predict His Own Death?
When asked to reveal parts of their personalities, musicians and song writers often complain fans and the media do not pay close enough attention to the art that they create. “Let the music stand for itself” or “Listen to the lyrics and you will understand,” is a familar battle cry for a pop star unwilling to open up about their life in an interview.
Ten years ago, Michael Jackson released an album called Blood On The Dance Floor. A commercial failure, the set included a song since buried called “Morphine.” This was the chorus:
Demerol
Demerol
Oh God he’s taking demerol
Demerol
Demerol
Oh God he’s taking demerol
In light of the allegations surrounding Michael’s death, the second verse is even scarier:
He’s tried
Hard to convince her
To be over what he had
Today he wants it twice as bad
Don’t cry
I won’t resent you
Yesterday you had his trust
Today he’s taking twice as much
Written and composed by Michael himself, “Morphine” could just be a metaphorical tale about love as strong as a narcotic, OR it could be a prophetic cry for help from The King Of Pop struggling with growing addictions to painkillers.
In fact, many of the songs that Michael wrote himself, could be read as autobiographical. Bad’s “Leave Me Alone” is probably the most famous, but it’s the lesser-played tracks that may tell the truest tale. One read of the words to “Childhood” from the HIStory album, will bring you to tears.
Have you seen my Childhood?
I’m searching for the world that I come from
‘Cause I’ve been looking around
In the lost and found of my heart…
No one understands me
They view it as such strange eccentricities…
‘Cause I keep kidding around
Like a child, but pardon me…People say I’m not okay
‘Cause I love such elementary things…
It’s been my fate to compensate,
for the Childhood
I’ve never known…Have you seen my Childhood?
I’m searching for that wonder in my youth
Like pirates in adventurous dreams,
Of conquest and kings on the throne…Before you judge me, try hard to love me,
Look within your heart then ask,
Have you seen my Childhood?People say I’m strange that way
‘Cause I love such elementary things,
It’s been my fate to compensate,
for the Childhood (Childhood) I’ve never known…Have you seen my Childhood?
I’m searching for that wonder in my youth
Like fantastical stories to share
But the dreams I would dare, watch me fly…Before you judge me, try hard to love me.
The painful youth I’ve hadHave you seen my Childhood….
What do you think? Are there other Michael songs that feel or sound like he could be talking about his real life? Sound off and print the lyrics in the comments…

well i liked him becos he is born with a talent but i hate him for destorying he self
I’m wondering if he made all these changes to his appearance ,because of the childhood he didn’t have .was he abused or just didn’t like the color of his skin .the skin condition he was to have would have left him with some patches of his normal skin color ,so i’m just wondering if he was trying to hide from something in his childhood.I think he was trying to tell us something in the song black or white.well anyways he’s done with the troubles of this world.no more heartaches no more pain. R.I.P
No one knows what happen to Michael Mind, heart and soul during his childhood. He was a sensitive child and Joe destroy his confidence, and he used the money to try to find peace within himself. What a conundrum? He was extremely shy man, with a talent that entertained millions. Unless you have walk in a person shoes save the judgment. Yet again, name calling has damage yet another soul…….!
i still cant believe the king of pop is gone but he is still forever in all of our hearts we love you Micheal Jackson. my condolence’s goes out to the jackson family.
sincerly ‘ ray young and the young family
Well said! It is the black woman who is the most loyal while most whites helped to destroy him! Mj didnt realice the beauty of being bláck until his dying dáys as his entouragé grew were o the majority of his staff were bláck. I know he was a confused soul especially growing up in era of raciál disparity, having to break down barriers while never seéing any dispictions of black
Beauty! My soul aches deeply….but it brings my heart joy knowing he’s away from the maddness! No More pain or stress from the media and peóple trying to bring him down. Are you happy now??
There will never
Be another one that would even come close!
May ur family grieve peacfully….and ur soul continue to live in our hearts til eternality…..
i will stand by my claim! Mike was never ignored by those who could have helped him, I believe he sealed himself away with toys and money. Money destroyed him. Not ther money itself…but how he chose to use it.
With any artist there gonna sing about there live without really singing about and bweing a fan, there were mamny songs I say that related to his life, for instance, Strangers In Moscow.I was wandering in the rain
Mask of life, feelin’ insane
Swift and sudden fall from grace
Sunny days seem far away
Kremlin’s shadow belittlin’ me
Stalin’s tomb won’t let me be
On and on and on it came
Wish the rain would just let me
How does it feel (How does it feel)
How does it feel
How does it feel
When you’re alone
And you’re cold inside
I’m live in lonely
I’m live in lonely, baby
Stranger in Moscow
We all knew Micheal was painfully shy and closed off from everything, but it’s ironic how so many people talked about it, but didn’t do something about it.
I’ve always connected with Micheal’s music, from the sad to the happy, because it connected to him, and I wished he knew how much he was loved.
As the saying goes, give them there flowers before there gone. Now that he’s no more I hope he get’s them everyday.
Until we see you again, may God hold you in the palm of his hands. SJ
i keep wondering if diss dead news story of Micheal jackson is real, althought it’s sad to hear of such and to fake with dead is another issue but lets not forget d act of art of jackson dart diss is a man capable of anything such as skin transformation frm black to white skin with a pure black blood flowing deep in his vessels, nevertheless it could also result 2 b 1 of his new modern tricks of making more greater news or would want to hear&know, how&what people will say about him and i think that diss hiss sudden death news is making him more famous than ever all over around the world as this will certainly ignite the so-called criminals waiting the advantage of such in amking more income for demself,i can see clearly now that the news of his death if real is becoming another great means of income to others out-there as they know demself.

“My problem with that is he had ample time and money to do anything he needed to work on his mind and past as well as he did his music and dance moves.”
It’s easy for people to judge and ridicule having never walked in his shoes. His music was an expression of his true feelings. I don’t blame him for not receiving the help but all those around him that ignored his cry for it. Michael Jackson may you rest in peace and may God have mercy on your gentle soul……
He suffered alone! he keep his sickness to himself,if only he told to his fans he’s sick we will understand.its painful for us! he will be surely miss by his fans..Jen
My only regret for the late Michael jackson, was during his last breath, his family was not beside him.but anyway his memory will live forever.Because of his greatness in music, the world mourns for him. Beacause they are his avid fans, millions of them including my self and my family.
I’ve had many takes on how Mike lived his life. It seems that he has always wanted attention and sympathy given to his “robbed” childhood. My problem with that is he had ample time and money to do anything he needed to work on his mind and past as well as he did his music and dance moves. Form the outside looking in, It seems like he spent a lifetime chasing another face spending his riches, helping others in good ways while rewarding leeches and pepole he should have never had around him. I think the difference maker would have been him asking thee most important man he knew for help his Dad. It was so obvious he never approached life as a man who seeked the love of the opposite sex. Yet I can’t confirm he was gay. Even though he had the choice of the world, his choices never made sense. His kids look white. For me that only reinforces the idea he had no clue who he needed to be because all he was used to was getting what he thought he wanted. The money helped destroy him. having wealth of that level affored him everything he wanted but never needed. It hurts me that a mann so great at so many things NEVER showed the world a beautiful brown skin woman that he had in his life. Huge los but he never showed us anything real from a truly personal place. The music and dancing made him rich and known. He never presented himself as a man in charge of his life NEVER!
i say yes
