Stanford Students Confront Condoleezza Rice on Torture

By Casey Gane-McCalla, Assistant Editor April 30, 2009 10:58 am

In this video, Cenk from the Young Turks shows some footage of Condoleezza Rice arguing with Stanford students who were confronting her about torture. He compares her argument to that of Nixon’s who famously said “When the president does it, that means it is not illegal.”

Rice said “The United States was told, we were told, nothing that violates our obligations under the Convention Against Torture, and so by definition, if it was authorized by the president, it did not violate our obligations under the Convention Against Torture.”
