I can’t worry about what is going on with other races. When all is said and done, poor white folks will be alright. Unemployment among them dropped in the last quarter, but it rose within our community. The government and society as a whole will look out for them. Even Hispanics have a better chance of having their issues addressed. They aren’t checking for our well-being, so why should we be concerned with theirs?

Where is Plan B for Job Creation, Mr. President?

Here is what our President said in his own words when he presented the American Jobs Act to Congress and the nation, “But know this: The next election is 14 months away. And the people who sent us here — the people who hired us to work for them — they don’t have the luxury of waiting 14 months. Some of them are living week to week, paycheck to paycheck, even day to day. They need help, and they need it now. I don’t pretend that this plan will solve all our problems. It should not be, nor will it be, the last plan of action we propose.” Those same people he talked about in that speech are still waiting for a Job Creation Plan from this President. Yet, the discussion it appears that will be in the fore front in the coming months is that of increasing taxes on the very rich and reducing taxes on the middle class. This is an endless discussion concerning rich vs. poor. The President and his advisors know that no serious adjustment to the tax code will even be contemplated, until after the election of 2012, if than. In the meantime, while in the background, Blacks suffer with high unemployment. Think about it, how can any community sustain double digit unemployment rates among its males above 15.0% and among its females, above 13.0 % ( these are the official numbers) for 3 straight years and now heading into a 4th year, continue to be vibrant and nurturing, influencing the lives of its young people? This is the state of Black America Let’s face it, the ones who are living day to day, mentioned in his speech are not going to make it. They will not be with us in 2012 as they slip off into homelessness.
If intellectuals, like Mr. West have truly been influenced by the truth of the suffering now being endured in our community, the obvious next step is to coalesce behind a plan to create jobs in our community and force it upon a reluctant and entrenched Black leadership, being led by an overly circ**spect President. I have long been an advocate of this statement, “We are weak because we do not act and we do not act because we are weak, so evil prevails.”

Right On! Black folks are always trying to be the champions of racial equality for all races as if these people cannot help their own race. You don’t see a famous Asian or Hispanic fighting for the rights of Black people. We become so bogged down with everybody jumping on our backs riding onward to their own civil rights that we loose steam when it comes to our own Black fight.

Blacks wanting equality for everybody when they haven’t even reached it yet and probably never will. Same old story since the 60′s. I submit intergration has killed the drive for blacks to be independent. I walk through the grocery store, & I realize ‘we’ don’t make ish. We couldn’t wipe our collective ‘asses’ with out white folks/Asians. We don’t make toilet paper but there are at least 12 major brands. I even see where the PROUD BROWN MAN has managed to make toilet paper for his people. The list goes on & on of the products we consume but have no ownership in let alone stock. From the land to the factory to the shipping to the shelf. Along that path you can find many employed black people if our so called leadership would just lead us on that path.
