OPINION: Famous Police Tapes of Henry Louis Gates Jr., O.J. Simpson and Marion Barry

TALE OF THE TAPE

This Professor Gates case gets more fascinating by the second. Please see my post from yesterday on what I believe actually happened on the night of the arrest. According to the Boston Herald,  the 911 and Officer’s radio tapes are likely to come out any day now.

I believe the Professor and his lawyer, Professor Charles Ogletree of Harvard Law School, would be wise to keep those tapes from being released.

My guess. The 911 tape has a neighbor saying two Black guys are breaking into a house. This is clearly a racial assumption on the part of the neighbor. So far, so good.

I think the officer’s walkie talkie recordings likely reveal Professor Gates going too far, not good. Only the tapes will reveal if Professor Gates got rowdy enough to warrant an arrest.

THREE SIGNS THE TAPES TELL A DIFFERENT STORY THAN THE PROFESSOR

When the President jumps on, then off of your team in a period of 48 hours, there is a good chance the White House is preparing for new evidence that is about to become public.

1. President Obama calls the Cambridge police officer to walk back the “stupid” comments and invite him to the White House for a beer. President Obama also says he feels Professor Gates overreacted as well.

2. According to CNN, Gates’ lawyer, Harvard Law professor Charles Ogletree confirms there will be NO Lawsuit from Gates.

3. Professor Gates and his reps are no longer saying this is a racial profile case, but a case of bad judgement. Agreed.

    I totally agree here brother..I really believe, Mr. Gates was so “offended” that he took this out on these cops, and got himself arrested so he could make this a national issue…Please spare me the self hate nonsense (if anyone feels so inclined), i’m a devout follower of the Most Hon. Elijah Muhammad..I truly believe, if Mr. Gates had calmly provided proof that he lived there, this issue would have been a dead one..He can’t get upset at the cops for responding to a call..if anything, his anger should be directed at his neighbor, and the fact that he/she didn’t recognize him says he has no relationship with them at all…I believe Mr. Obama was in error as well…you can’t say, you don’t know all the facts and in the next sentence say the cops acted stupidly! he should have prefaced his statement with “if the reports i have read are all true, then…..” at least that gives him an out if needed in the future..Now Mr. Obama finds himself in the embarrassing position of recanting his statement..If these tapes confirm my suspicion, then this will actually give those who deny racial profiling exists, some very strong ammunition…

    I have mixed feelings here. o_O @ Gates’ neighbor for not recognizing it was him and calling the police and this nonsesne escalating even further after Gates showed the cop proof that he lived there. Obama kind of stuck his foot in his mouth and being President, he shouldn’t be so quick to comment as loosely as he did in cases like this. No matter what the outcome, still boils down to the fact that profiling is still a reality today

    this clown calls himself the Black Buckley! wtf…but anyway here’s my two cents

    3 Signs that this cop was wrong
    1.) they dropped the charges
    2.) it’s not against the law to yell at the police
    3.) as soon as he found out Gates was the homeowner, he should have left the premises! but according to the police report he radioed for Harvard PD AFTER Gates showed him his ID.

    The cop must have treated him in a way that he thougth was ‘beneath him’. I think both of them got heated, but the cop was going to show him what he could do. the prof, on the other hand, then showed the cop what HE could do. and as far as what Obamam said, get off his back. The man is only human, not King Solomon. Human make errors, the Chinese say that when you hold your rulers to extra human standards, you are doomed.
