Nice picture of King Oliver's jazz band...got some of his records that's worth some yuppy bucks..
LOVE that photo of Louis Armstrong, my idol. The man who changed music for 20th century....few today could hold his drawes. I listen to lots of music (rap is getting out of hand), rather listen to his his music instead. Got his records, too......

The United States did not defeat the British in the War of 1812 although they won the Battle of New Orleans. One of the American aims in this war of aggression was to capture Canada. In three years of invasions they were driven back each time even though they outnumbered the British, Canadian and Aboriginal defenders. Among those defenders of Canadian liberty were a number of African Canadians--all free men under British law.

Black veterans received land grants of 100 acres for their service and many went on to become community leaders. The first African Canadidan to be elected to public office was in Niagara-on-the-Lake, ex private Waters being elected as an alderman in a predominantly middle class white ward.
