Statistics show women date men who are like their fathers, just as men date women who are like their mothers. With so few REAL black father role-models, it’s not surprising, actually. I “like” how the writer of this article wants to make it seem like these girls were some sort of victims. They knew the consequences of their actions. Selling illegal drugs in college is not new, and the stupid part about it is that most people see this as a “great” way to make money in college. Its not, there are plenty of ways to be a legit entreprenuer in college w/o having to supplement your income with drug sales. Everybody wants to live the thug life, I don’t feel pity for this girl. Anywho, regarding the topic at hand: one of my best friends and I dated a few thugs in our days. The difference is that I dumped the guys I dated as soon as I realized that they were full of b.s. and had no intentions to straighten out their lives–and this realization came much sooner than later. All they were looking for was their “golden ticket”, a better opportunity without having to work for it or they were on the hunt for someone (me) whom they THOUGHT could be easily gulled into doing their evil bidding (NOT). I got rid of these a*****es faster than a hooker could get rid of the clap.

Unfortunately, however, my friend wasn’t so quick to do this and she got duped by the biggest loser who was an ex-con and was still hustling and committing other crimes. My friend hasn’t done anything illegal for this guy, but she is so caught up in the drama and excitement of being with a ‘bad boy’ that he’s played her several times and she’s in total denial. All I can do is shake my damn head and ask her not to ever let him know where I live because if I see him on my property, I will shoot him (have three registered guns and permit to carry them).

The best thing a woman can do is run fast and hard from these hoodlums. They are no good for you. They will rob you of your mind, money, time, peace of mind…anything that they can. They are sociopaths to the Nth degree and have no problem taking you down the proverbial path of ‘hell’.

If you are with a man who is a hood, thug, “bad boy” or just “needs a good woman to change him”, you have low self-esteem and you need to get some type of help…maybe from a therapist or, if you are spiritual, a spiritual counselor. Grammatical errors, narrative inconsistency, weakly constructed argument and broad over-arching generalizations about these girls’ educational backgrounds and futures aside, and you still fail to actuate an insightful, thought-provoking commentary. There’s probably a lot more at play here than hip-hop “media stereotypes” and disinterest in “banker” nerds. I am heart broken reading this, I am a Prep for Prep alum and this hits close to home. I’ve seen many people (women and men alike) do ridiculous things for some feigned sense of love and acceptance, and when you layer poverty, racism and identity on top of that it gets even further complicated. I can tell you as a Prep student, there were many times that I felt guilty for my privilege and thought I need to overcompensate for living in the hood and being intelligent. Thankfully I matured and learned that was ridiculous and I should always be true to myself and the gifts and talents that I have, but that is yet another privilege that many people live without.
