Best Ideas On Obama’s Website? Legalize Weed and End War on Drugs

Barack Obama’s website change.gov has opened itself up to online democracy. He has challenged his supporters to give him their Top 10 Ideas for Change in America.
The website has revealed the Top 10 Ideas and surprisingly the first two deal with drugs. The number one idea is to Legalize the Medicinal and Recreational Use of Marijuana and the number two is to End the war on drugs.
Other ideas in the Top 10 included repealing the patriot act and legalizing gay marriage. Decriminalizing marijuana came in at number nine.

look at it like this.. weed cannot kill u.. there has never been any research that has proven this. when u put weed into dutches, phillies, etc.. yes that can slowly kill you as would a cigarette because of the nicotine. Weed isnt addictive, its the dutch your smoking that is (nicotine).. i suggest smoking “white boys” top paper no nicotine. If you really wanna get deep. Alcohol and cigarettes should be illegal because millions of ppl die from alcohol and cigarette smoking related diseases every single year. Weed should be legalized..s**t i smoke it everyday.

I’m not surprised that people had legalizing weed near the top of the list. Let’s not pretend that we’re all of a sudden politically savvy. We also have to consider the age of the people who probably responded. Not race, but AGE probably had more to do with the responses than anything else.

first of it’s congress who pass the bills the president just presents them. and he would never present a bill to legalize weed first of all. I don’t normally write comments to articles but anybody with an negative idea saying they should legalize weed ya crazy with ya comments saying that ur making our first black president look bad. dont u know that’s what those white people like when ya have s**t like this. so sad

That’s one of the dumbest things I’ve ever read. Are YOU smoking crack?? Did you know that part of the reason it was criminalized is because white law-makers were convinced that it made black men chase and rape and basically violate their precious little white snow queen daughters? Did you know that one of the lawmakers actually said that he smoked it as an experiment and he turned into a bat and flew around the room?? That comment was taken as FACT and was used as evidence for why marijuana should be criminalized.
Please don’t come here and spread IGNORANCE as those lawmakers did so many years ago.

Weed use is harmful. Having said that it is NOT the government’s place to tell you what you can and cannot put into YOUR body. This is not a morality issue since prescription drugs are used for recreational use just as much if not more than marijuana. Comparing weed smoking to smoking wood is just childish when you know that people only mention that as a comparison to the thousands of manufactured drugs that are prescribed to US citizens everyday – most of which are physically addictive which marijuana is NOT.
The gateway drug argument is weak since the drug most of us get introduced to first is alcohol which gets a pass only because of its legality.
This is only BIG BROTHER finding yet another way to make criminals out of good people. It only helps the jails stay full which means more money for them. It only helps prisons stay full. It only helps corporations full of closet drunks and prescription drug addicts deny opportunities to a segment of society.
The criminalization of marijuana use is really a matter of PERSONAL FREEDOM that even non-weed smokers would be wise to rally against. Are we going to be a truly FREE society or not?
I really find it hysterical when people try and tell me that marijuana is a mind numbing drug. If you know someone who has become dependent on Marijuana and it effects their everyday life negatively, then weed is not to blame, the person is. Marijuana is harmless in doses of your very own tolerance, and at the same time too much of anything is not good for you. If you or someone else has become dependent on marijuana then it is not for you to smoke, just as someone who becomes dependent on alcohol, cigarettes, or prescription medicines should not continue to use the substance. I really wish people would stop putting marijuana on the same level as crack or heroin, or any other CHEMICALLY ENHANCED DRUG, because weed is the complete opposite. Marijuana is also the answer to a lot of our economic troubles, seeing as Hemp can be used as a resource for a large amount of products other than a recreational or medical drug.

its funny the reason why people say we shouldn’t legalize marijuana or change the way we go after drug users and what not. i saw on here someone say any thing you take in your lungs that’s not air is bad in short then that means no tobacco no hair spray the smoke that comes out of your car should be illegal cuz that will kill you the truth about weed is you can’t overdose never no matter how many blunts or pipes you smoke of it can’t say that about aspirin alcohol or ciggs plus none of those things have health benefits like marijuana does proven by doctors for thousands of yrs and then there like what about the kids well last time i checked my folk on the block weren’t asking for id so if you take it off the black market and start taxing it you come out a lot better in the end because all the money made off taxing marijuana would be nice to use towards schools or drug rehab and drug education and the money and time it would save the law so they can go out and get king pins and take out mef labs and stuff like that we need to grow up about weed and start taking responsibility for kid and are own action not trying to blame a plant for are problems we saw what 20 plus yrs of drug war has done to other law abiding Americans turned them into criminals and wasted billions of tax payers dollars but hay that’s the American way

People don’t think weed use doesnt harm them? your lungs function on air which is comprised mostly of nitrogen and oxygen..anything else is robbing you and putting strain on your organs which will lead to malfunction at some point not to mention how it alters the mind. Yes its from the earth, but so is wood, do you think you could smoke wood and not have it effect you? and saying that weed is as safe or safer than alcohol is ridiculous. I’m not telling anyone what choice they should make, when it comes to using or not, that’s on the individual, but anyone who thinks smoking weed is harmless is delusional
i hate to say it but i don’t know anyone who was harmed from smoking weed. its truly no different from alcohol if anything alcohol can kill u weed can not think about it. its from the earth its not chemical influenced at all its simply dried so it crumbles. a pack of tobacco can kill u. u ever heard of overdosing on weed i think not. i have used it and it has not affected my education or my employment status. god gave us choice and wisdom. there is a time a place for everything. how far will u let it go and how much will u let it control u.becuz it can’t be taxed that is the only reason it will never be legallized. but i do think the legal system should ease up alittle on its laws as far as weed goes.

Quick question. How often have you seen on the news or read in a newspaper that a someone killed another person in a car wreck because they were high on marijuana?
This is ridiculous! A friend of mine recently quit smoking weed (for now) and I congratulated him. He asked me why, and I said because it’s an illegal and addictive substance, plus its expensive. Then he went on to lecture me that weed was only illegal because it couldn’t be taxed and made the typical comparisons to alcohol.
And ps– did u notice the occupation of the Creator of this IDEA for change?
