Best Ideas On Obama’s Website? Legalize Weed and End War on Drugs

Barack Obama’s website change.gov has opened itself up to online democracy. He has challenged his supporters to give him their Top 10 Ideas for Change in America.
The website has revealed the Top 10 Ideas and surprisingly the first two deal with drugs. The number one idea is to Legalize the Medicinal and Recreational Use of Marijuana and the number two is to End the war on drugs.
Other ideas in the Top 10 included repealing the patriot act and legalizing gay marriage. Decriminalizing marijuana came in at number nine.

Sincerely, we as a ‘culture’ need to educate the ignorant. For example, most people don’t understand that Cannabis is the genus name for three different species: sativa, indica, and reduralis/rudaralis. As I read through some of these comments I envision and can hear the opposition gathered together saying, “Good they’re still stupid, they have no idea. They still don’t get it.”
When Cannibis was criminalized we lost one of the most resourceful plants on the planet. By criminalizing the Cannibis plant -which exist as both “male” and “female”- our government made it next to impossible for research (private or competitive) to be performed on the one plant that could, would, will put an end to this energy/alternative energy/economic crisis. Not only would/will Cannibis research create an increased need for employment – scientists, chemists, biotechnologist (yours truly), farmers, growers, harvesters, plant operators, fermenters, fermentation vat operators, supervisors, laborers, etc . . . – it will open doors to the use of cannibis (male) as a cellulosic bio-diesel fuel. A fuel with the ability to decrease our stressful need for oil. In stead of fighting over a finite resource which always presents a risk of further polluting our earth, we should be capitalizing from the infinite resource that Cannabis can provides. GWCII
big hips2008 made a very good statement above. I cant reply to that but with this….Legalize weed. It can be used to help people with suicide issues,like bi polar patients. Weed has never had a negaive outcome on society. Ever! Check its history.

Lmfao @ fake pic… After watchin doc**entaries like american drug, and other video works on weed globally, this is a good look…if it comes. This will also have to translate into American foreign policy as far as people entering the usa from other countries who have been classified as felony criminals because they smokes weed. Bermuda for example if u get cause with any amount of weed u r classified as a felony criminal and cannot enter the usa for any reason because of that blanket mis representation of the law….It will be interesting if this story is even real @ all. I dont have that much faith in politicians to do the right thing for its citizens.
I think there are more people in this country who actually do smoke weed than those who don’t, that random person standing next to you that you would have never thought smoked weed, well they have and probably still do, marijuana is a classless drug, it doesn’t discriminate and is used by the most poor people to the most wealthiest, I know first hand, I have friend’s from every group of people….I think that legalizing weed will actually slow down the buying and selling of it, its going to become so easily accessible that the price of it is going to go down drastically people aren’t going to be able to charge as much as they used to for it, the only bad thing about that, is that those same “weed” dealers are going to have to find another drug to sell to make their money and could bring up the percentage of chemicalized drugs such as meth, cocaine, etc.

I think he should decriminalize it. Don’t forget they had similar arguments about alcohol back in the day – all the moral s**t – now they have a new focus. And in 30 years there’ll be a new one. Ppl should not be going to jail for years to pay for distribution, posession, or use of marijuana. After working in government I have to say (especially to the man calling n****rs over this issue – how hateful) that people of all walks of life enjoy it and it doesn’t affect their success or intelligence, and it shouldn’t be different for poorer or blacker ppl. However, I don’t think he should legalize it because then it will be like cigs and alcohol, first illegal and ruining ppls’ lives unnecessarily on jail time and prison and preventing employment, then next thing you know the government is making a mint off it. But yeah, something needs to be done. To have even lumped marijuana in on the war on drugs as if it’s even close to having similar effects as these other drugs (btw that they barely bust anyone with despite their widespread use), was ridiculous.

The main reason for drug problems is because of the strict laws against drugs. Human nature dictates that we want most what we cant or are not suppose to have. i.e. you tell children they cant eat candy and what do they crave? Its a mental thing and the less emphasis you put on NOT participating the more attractive it becomes to people in general because it becomes taboo. I feel if weed was legalized one of two outcomes are possible: either intrest in weed would decline or people would be a lot more moderate in using it because it no longer would have that taboo element attatched to it.
