One year ago today, on November 4, 2008, Barack Obama was elected President of the United States. While his victory was undoubtedly a momentous and historic event for the entire nation, Black people took particular pride in this singularly visible symbol of racial progress.

This election has meant that we not only as African Americans, but as human beings have taken not just one step but several in making sure that racial injustices and inequalities concering education, medical care coverage, careers, politics, among the least are reduced to lower rates so that our children might have a brighER future. (This being possible due to a president that has “us” on his agenda.) This election has meant that we as young black males have a role model to look up to that let’s us know that we don’t have to settle for mediocrity and the status quo of the ghetto where black males walk around with their pants hanging down and 6 baby mamas and oh yeah no job, well that’s atleast the way the media portrays us. For older African Americans have reveled in the joy and triumph that the “We Shall Overcome” songs they sang so long ago are coming into fruition in a very “BIG” way. And yes “We SHALL OVERCOME ONE DAY”!!!
I have a lot of respect for Michelle, but I don’t think she should ever where that black and red dress again. From the front it’s fine but the rear view should never be shot in HD w/a zoom lense…never never never.
I Hope that when this country has turned to a socialist government you all feel the same. You all need to learn the real black history and not just what the democrats, learn what party had the first black vp nomanation, who pushed for the civil rights bill abd who opposed them, who worked to stop slavery and who opposed it. It’s all in history and if you don’t know it and understand it then you will just repeat it!
Obama has made history for our young generation. I’m glad that the time has come for this Godly man to serve our country.
I smelled victory for Barack Obama when I first found out that he was running for president!!! I’m so delighted that I assissted in making this beutiful dream of ours to come true.
and lets hope He can keep that dream alive….
