African Americans have achieved so much and much more that we have not been given credit for, but we can not and I hope we will not complain… People we have accomplished something far great than anyone can take away from us… And with this we as a whole have to keep moving forward and don’t let anyone or anything get in our way… Not in our wildest DREAMS or in this life time would we have seen the moment were an African American would/could run for office and then WIN… We have to me PROUD, but not just for ourselves for the people in this gallery and the ones who made it possible for us to be who we are today… Keep an open mind and heart… God is the future and he shapes our destiny!!! How sweet it is to know that now my 3 granddaughters (Kamea 9, Nyanah 6, and Kayla 1) can now see little sweet black girls like them living in the white house, for when I was their age, I much less seen sweet images of sweet little girls like me on the tv period! Oprah Winfrey is the most successful television host of all time, regardless of race, ethnicity or nationality (I give her all of her props), however, she was not the first African-American woman to host her own television show. I remember that in 1969, Della Reese hosted a short lived syndicated talk/variety show entitled ‘Della’ and it was good! She would sing and interview great guests daily. Unfortunately it didn’t last long, because a lot of Southern markets refused to carry the show. Della hosted her own TV show many years before Oprah.
