One year ago today, November 4th, 2008, the nation and the world saw America take a leap of faith. We made history by electing the first Black president and since then we’ve seen him break record after record.

Why not take a trip down memory lane and experience the moment that started it all? Check out the gallery below!

    Spare me

WOW, from what I’ve read BlackPlanet.com is biggest social networking site geared for African American Blacks, Blacks worldwide, and non-Blacks who associate and have sex with Black people AND there are no comments about when President Barack Hussein Obama made history in America becoming our FIRST African American President. I must say WOW again, that’s pitiful. I see why New Jersey now has a Republican Conservative Governor as of last night. You people lack pride in being Black and acknowledging our achievements and advancements since the abolishment of slavery in America. Be proud some time instead of a hater like the “Spare me” comment.

I am so proud of President Obama. He has gotten our economy to turn around though there is still much work to do. He has shown the world that we have Black marriages that are JUST LIKE anyone else’s in America. There are so many things President Obama has done and withstood that shows if he had SOME, SOME cooperation from Republicans, we could see more changes that main street America desperately needs.

Unfortunately, he campaigned on bipartanship, and the Republicans have lived up to be the “Party of No” by showing us Americans that they have no intention to cooperate with the Commander-in-Chief, our President of the U.S., because they don’t want a Black man as this country’s leader. As I’ve said to many, this is NOT a “Post Racial” era because we elected an African American President, it only means whites, blacks, and the people of color in the U.S. will have a President who is NOT WHITE for a change.

President Obama’s presidency in his first year reminds me of a position I used to have in Corporate America where I was hired in a leadership position but none of the WHITE employees nor older Blacks would cooperate; instead they sabotaged the operation of the division then pointed fingers at me for the failure of the reorganization. If Senators and House of Reps in Congress do not create legislation then vote in favor of it, then it will NOT become a reality. So far with the health care debate, Republicans, conservative Democrats, and the anti-Obama Independent “Joe Lieberman” have sabotaged his presidency and obstructed everything President Obama campaigned on. The message is loud and clear: THIS IS NOT THE TIME FOR CHANGE in America that we can believe in. Their resistance to work with and support President Obama lets me know that THE PEOPLE REALLY WANT MORE OF THE SAME THAT BUSH-CHENEY-REAGAN did to get us into the wars and state of affairs our nation, and our people are in today.

So, in President Obama’s first year, again, I am proud that we have an African American President, but I am disappointed that the people, Congress, state legislators, MSNBC, CNN and too many members on BP are not giving him the support he really needs to have a successful presidency like they allowed Bush without any complaint nor interference to successfully ruin our country for eight years.

its funny that folks can find memorable highlights of Bark’s election campaign. Yet, none of you can find highlights of campaign promises being put into actions. SMH
