OPINION: Why Americans Ignore Obama On Healthcare

President Obama didn’t wear a bike helmet on vacation, but maybe he should when he returns to work next week. He’ll need it to protect himself from the hail of incoming advice about how he should handle the health-care-reform fight. He’s being told to be less liberal, change his message, stay on course, get more emotional, and (by everyone) to get more hands-on.

The president will get more involved, aides promise. He will get more specific about what he wants and build a coalition in Congress around those ideas. Then, he’ll have to convince the public and hope that specificity will improve his connection with the American people. Until now, despite his constant effort to sell health care reform, the public-opinion numbers have been moving against him. In a just-released CBS/New York Times poll, 40 percent say they have confidence in his handling of health care, down seven points from a month ago. A plurality of Americans (47 percent) disapprove of his handling of the issue.

How did things get so low? If the president is going to make a new and successful pitch, knowing where he went wrong might help him keep from making the same mistake in the future.

    He can’t even get any support from this forum. Not one comment…but let you talk about R Kelly vs Trey Songz and this thread would be filled by now. African Americans are to caught up in stupid crap…then rather EDUCATE themselves concerning HEALTHCARE. Pitiful…………

    Amerikkans??? what demographics are you exactly pertaining to??? Let’s be honest here, I think blacks/brown are still in the honeymoon stage with Obama. Its so easy to see the “melanin” of his skin.Yet, majority cant see beyond it. This man has the same bloodline as the Bush’s and the Kerry’s, but questioning his true motives and his true agenda behind all the political semantics is crime to the eyes of Amerikkkans. The universal healthcare proposal that the public has been hearing are nothing but a rope a’ dope tactics till they figure out how the insurance companies and pharmaceutical companies can continue to make profit out of us even with the so called universal health care. Try reading the whole healthcare proposal, and see if there’s no loopholes, political benefits for lobbyist etc.

    How can I protect a half-black man that came from the bloodline of those that cashed in $200 million annually from the crack epidemic(Contra Drug Ring),wages war on the world on the name of $$$$$(Iraq, Cold War, Afghanistan, Palestine, Arms race all over Afrika, etc), ETC. . .WOuld grandmaster Teacher Franz Fanon just trust Obama because of his “melanin”??

    I am behind my President 300% I am amazed that america could support a Back Stabiing Azz hole like G. Bush but want to complain about President Obama. Thats Right President Obama Not “Obama” He is our President and will be one of the Greatest of all time. The truth is that President Obama has been in office for only 8 months and has done more in that short time than G. Bush did in 8 Years. This Great Man had the nerve to want to straighten out this Crazy economy that the Bush gangsters got us into. I stand behind our President 300% And I’m not afraid to stand up for him.     Remember my message to get on board the Noah’s ark? You thought it was bad having no real choice for a Republican candidate, wait till the flood tides really cave in. I am behind Obama all the way. Debaters and naysayers will vote for President Obama, that’s right, PRESIDENT Obama under cover of darkness- they like to sound anti- black, but for their well-being they know it is best to go pro-Black.
