From ThatMinorityThing.com:

How ironic is it that a white reporter is correcting black commentators who are accusing President Obama of having a “too white” press office?  ”Journalist” Richard Prince and CNN’s Roland Martin have been among those who’ve called out the president for not having enough “color” among his communications staff.

Only, it ain’t so.  In his Political Punch blog, ABC’s Jake Tapper goes into detail about all the people of color working in the President’s press office.  And he notes not merely that the deputy press secretary Bill Burton is black, but that there are Asians and Hispanics represented as well.  Shin Inouye, Jason Djang, David Gomez and Luis Miranda among others.

And what’s most important, of course, is that the President selected the best people for the job, not merely the people with the right tint to their skin.

While Martin is quite successful with his radio show and CNN gig, we suspect the less-significant Prince is just angling for a paycheck.

A reminder to many of the self-appointed Obama watchers: while it’s important to be race aware, better to be factually correct.

The thing is, just because you are black, does not mean YOU HAVE TO assign all black. Roland Martin is trying to keep the white man happy.

How many of these journalist applied for jobs? All of this magical thinking is not going to cause a job to fall into anyone’s lap. You’ve got to work!

I’m not impressed at all with Roland Martin or that Juan Williams. Donna Brazile, yes! Gwen Ifill, yes! See, I can not even think of other news worthy journalist for the jobs!

President Obama needs brilliance and not the what are you going to do for me rhetoric!

He does not need “drama kings and queens” working for him because they are a waste of time! What he needs are people who are diverse and not ones who are one dimensional in thought!

I’m sure that there are many highly qualified individuals of color who are excellent journalist. Where are you at?

If Roland is so great then why has CNN not given him his own news show? They gave one to a comedian who by the way is less significant than a journalist if you ask me. http://divalocity.blogspot.com

I think some of our brothers and sisters need to be reminded that his cabinet and all who work for him must represent America. Black people alone did not elect this man – it would’ve been impossible. It is very realistic that most of his staff would be white; after all, over 70% of the US population is white. The rest should be a percentage of the other racial groups including an emphasis of African Americans – which is exactly what he has done. It would have been political suicide for his assistants to be mostly black. Lastly, remember, Obama is both BLACK and WHITE.
