Obama Jobs

President Barack Obama this week will urge Congress to permanently extend and expand a research and development tax credit to encourage job growth.

Obama will lay out the proposal, which would cost about $100 billion over the next decade, in a Sept. 8 speech on the economy in Cleveland, Ohio, according to two administration officials speaking on condition of anonymity before the announcement.

Obama has promised to roll out “new ideas” to boost growth and spur hiring as he focuses on the economy with less than two months until the November congressional elections.

You know, plan B is NEVER as good as plan A. When you’re talking about looking at new ideas, this far into the process, it’s clear you have nothing. Christine Roemer and Joe Biden on behalf of this administration said job growth would be “well on its way” by the end of summer, and we just saw an uptick in the unemployment rate. It’s obvious they HAVE NO CLUE what to do. The bottom line is, the jobs that were lost were a result of a fictitious housing bubble fueled by cheap credit. In order to get those 8million jobs back, it stands to reason, that another “fictitious” bubble must be inflated. They have tried to reinflate the housing bubble FAIL. Tried to create a automobile bubble FAIL. Unfortunately, BHO got in the drivers seat at the wrong time of history. His handlers are unable to make him look good!

ILL SAY THE SAME THING I ALWAYS SAY ABOUT BARACK OBAMA, HE IS A GOOD PRESIDENT WITH THE POTENTIAL TO BE A GREAT PRESIDENT. BUT HE WAS HANDED DOWN SUCH A HUGE WRECK WITH VERY LITTLE IF NOT ANYTHING AT ALL TO WORK WITH I DONT KNOW IF WE’LL EVER BE ABLE TO SEE THIS MANS POTENTIAL. NO INCOMING PRESIDENT HAS HAD IT WORST THAN THIS GUY YET HE STILL HAS A LIST OF REAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS TO BOOT. UNFORTUNILTLEY NO ONE CARES AS LONG AS THE UNEMPLOYMENT RATE IS NEAR 10% & SLOW JOB GROWTH ALL HIS ACCOMPLISHMENTS MEAN NOTHING. ITS ALL ABOUT THE JOBS STUPID! MY ONLY QUESTION IS IF WE LET SOMEONE ELSE INTO THE WHITE HOUSE WHETHER IT WAS IN 2008 OR 2012 WHAT WOULD OR COULD THEY POSSIBLEY DO THAT IS DIFFRENT TO SPUR JOB GROWTH & GET US OUT OF A GREAT RECESSION/..?? THE ANSWER IS THE SAME… NOTHING!!!!! NO MATTER WHO WAS PRESIDENT NO ONE CAN UNDO THE MESS THE LAST PRESIDENT LEFT. IT TOOK 8 YEARS TO TANK THE WHOLE ECONOMY WHAT EVERYONE FAILS TO ADMIT & ACKNOWLEDGE IS THAT IT TAKES TWICE AS LONG TO BUILD SOMETHING BACK UP THAN IT DOES TO TEAR IT DOWN. IN OTHER WORDS REALISTICLLY IT WILL TAKE AT LEAST ANYWHERE FROM 16 – 20 YEARS TO GET THE COUNTRY LOOKING LIKE IT WAS IN THE 90s WHEN BILL WAS PRESIDENT. BUSH F&CKED US ALL REAL GOOD! THE DAMAGE THAT A SINGLE MAN MADE THROUGHT HIS ADMINISTRATION WILL EFFECT US FOR NOT JUST FOR HIS TERM BUT FOR GENERATIONS TO COME. I WAS NEVER UNDER THE FAIRY TALE NOTION THAT THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION WOULD BE ABLE TO WAVE HIS WOND & CLEAN UP ALL THIS MESS IN A COURSE OF 2 YEARS. NEVER THOUGHT HE WAS THE MESSIAH. HE WILL BE LUCKY TO BE JUST GETTING THE COUNTRY OUT OF THE RECCESSION AT THE END OF 2 TERMS IF HE SERVES BOTH. THE NEXT PRESIDENT AFTER THAT IS THE ONE WHO WILL START REAL GROWTH. BUT ANWAYS YOU LOOK AT IT OBAMA WAS & STILL IS THE BEST MAN FOR THE JOB, PEOPLE JUST NEED TO HAVE REALISTIC VIEWS & EXPECTATIONS.

@Alphamanec. You really believe it’s even possible to wreck the greatest economy in the world in a short 8 years? Keep in mind, when GWB came into office, he too was handed a recessionary economy. You say everyone should realize it takes “twice as long” to fix a broken economy? How long did it take for the US to climb out of the “Great Depression?” There is still debate over this, because there are many who believe if the correct or different measures were taken, it would have been sooner, but due to the failed policies, the time period was prolonged. The real point is, Economics is a social science so trying to predict how or when an economy will rebound, is like trying to accurately predict who will the Superbowl this year but with even less accuracy since there so many more variables. You say no other President would have been able to fix this thing either, and I agree with that wholeheartedly. But if you truly feel that way, then what makes him so much greater in your eyes than any other President?

Again you say anyone/everyone knows that it takes twice as long to fix these things, then tell me, doesn’t it upset you then, when members of his economic team comes out in Jan ’09 and say that after they implement their various stimulus monies, the unemployment numbers and GDP will show SIGNIFICANT improvement by the end of summer ’10? Doesn’t it bother you at all, that he doesn’t speak what you have acknowledged as the truth by telling the masses, that he won’t be able to fix this during his tenure? Why keep the people feeding off false hope? Wouldn’t you rather someone tell you the hard bitter truth about something rather than keeping you in a state of wishful thinking? I had an uncle tell me yesterday that things are going to get better after the Nov. Elections, and when I asked what makes him feel that way, he was unable to even provide a bad answer let alone a good one. For the most part, we are fueled on euphoria and empty optimism. You see that clearly manifested in church every Sunday morning.

Many want to dismiss white people now who are being critical of the PRes as just racist. But they are different than us. They tend to hold people accountable to their words and promises a lot more than we do. In the mind of many blacks (especially his base) it doesn’t matter that the promises he made 18 months ago haven’t even come close to being realized, as long as he continues to flash that smile and make new ones.

I listen to some of the top economists in the world from both sides of the spectrum, but one thing they ALL agree on, they DON’T see a light at the end of tunnel. They can’t always agree on how we got here, but NONE see it getting better anytime soon. But because politics is a SHAM, no sitting President can tell you the “truth” because it would be political suicide. So the Pres now says he is ready to look at “new” ideas. Now we both know that during this time, no stone has been left unturned. In fact that would be highly irresponsible, so what new ideas could he be talking about? Doesn’t it bother you that due to political expediency, you can’t be told the truth? Make no mistake, this is not Unique to BHO, but it only shows, that he is no better or worse than his predecessors!

It frustrates me that Obama was given such a crappy hand to deal with, and is being blamed for not making something happen with it. Kinda hard to fix things when you’re a) given the worst economy in over two decades, and b) the opposing party is doing their best to prevent every single thing you propose.

It would be nice if the two parties grow the fcuk up and stop this pissing match. But of course, that would mean asking politicians to look out for the people they represent, and we can’t have that, now can we?

@focusein07. Running for President is voluntary. He knew what he was getting into and he knew it would explode to this point. The fact is, this economy was in recession since late ’07. The masses may have not known it, but those in the business world were well aware of it. Trust me, BHO is gonna be alright from a personal standpoint regardless. Whether he is reelected in ’12 or not, he will step into a cushy job on Wall Street or some corporation. His wife will step into a top law firm or damn near any job she wants. She is smart and now will have friends/connections from all over the world. Their children will have the best education possible. About the only thing you should feel sorry for them for is they probably won’t be able to vacation as much, but hey, we all have to sacrifice sometime in our lives.

Research and Development credits would benefit GE, the auto industry and big pharma.
