Top 10 Racist Limbaugh Quotes

By Casey Gane-McCalla October 20, 2008 9:45 pm

We never anticipated the popularity of this article, nor the controversy that it would cause.  But all we can say is, “Thank you, Rush, for being you.”

THE TOP TEN QUOTES

1. Have you ever noticed how all composite pictures of wanted criminals resemble Jesse Jackson?

Source

No, but I’ve noticed that all racist bigots think like Rush Limbaugh. Comparing a respected black politician and minister to common criminals is Jim Crow racism. Maybe all black people look alike to him, but I’ve never seen a picture of a wanted criminal that looks like Jesse Jackson. A serial killer that looks like Rush Limbaugh on the other hand.

John Wayne Gacy

2. Right. So you go into Darfur and you go into South Africa, you get rid of the white government there. You put sanctions on them. You stand behind Nelson Mandela — who was bankrolled by communists for a time, had the support of certain communist leaders. You go to Ethiopia. You do the same thing.

Source

The communist connection is an old way of dealing with black leaders. They used it on Martin Luther King, they’re using it on Barack Obama and Limbaugh used it on Nelson Mandela. By siding with the racist apartheid regime over a world-wide symbol of peace and freedom, Limbaugh has shown he’s a global racist.

3. Look, let me put it to you this way: the NFL all too often looks like a game between the Bloods and the Crips without any weapons. There, I said it.

Source

Limbaugh is once again fear mongering and race baiting by associating professional black athletes with criminals and gangmembers. He continues the fear mongering association of good, decent, hard working African Americans as criminals.

4. The NAACP should have riot rehearsal. They should get a liquor store and practice robberies.

Source

Now Limbaugh is saying that an organization with a storied tradition of representing the positive black people for change in their communities are criminals and rioters. An organization that has been represented by intelligent professional African Americans, that has played a part in the Civil Rights movement and continues to be an intelligent, concerned voice for the African American community is degraded to common criminals. There you go Rush. Keep racism alive!!!!

5. They’re 12 percent of the population. Who the hell cares?

Source

Decent human beings care Rush. Someone out of that 12% is the President of the United States. Not caring about black people? Even George Bush wouldn’t admit to that.

6. [To an African American female caller]: Take that bone out of your nose and call me back.

Source

Okay, Rush, that’s classy. The old African bone in the nose stereotype. Wasn’t funny when the racist white school kids called the black kids that and it’s definitely not funny when a grown man with audience of millions of easily influenced dittoheads says it either.

7. I think the media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well.  They’re interested in black coaches and black quarterbacks doing well.  I think there’s a little hope invested in McNabb and he got a lot of credit for the performance of his team that he really didn’t deserve.

Source

I wasn’t super offended by this, the whole black quarterback/coach thing has been going on for years in sports, but the quote was so offensive that Retired General Wesley Clarke said:

There can be no excuse for such statements. Mr. Limbaugh has the right to say whatever he wants, but ABC and ESPN have no obligation to sponsor such hateful and ignorant speech. Mr. Limbaugh should be fired immediately.

When a respected, retired general condemns the statement of a sportscaster, you know he’s gone too far.

8. Limbaugh’s many attacks on Obama.

Limbaugh has called Obama a ‘halfrican American’ has said that Obama was not Black but Arab because Kenya is an Arab region, even though Arabs are less than one percent of Kenya. Since mainstream America has become more accepting of African-Americans, Limbaugh has decided to play against its new racial fears, Arabs and Muslims. Despite the fact Obama graduated magna cum laude from Harvard Law school, Limbaugh has called him an ‘affirmative action candidate.’ Limbaugh even has repeatedly played a song on his radio show ‘Barack the Magic Negro’ using an antiquated Jim Crow era term for Black a man who many Americans are supporting for president. Way to go Rush.

So Rush Limbaugh has managed to make racist attacks on four of the most admired and respected people of African descent in the past one hundred years, in Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela, Colin Powell and Barack Obama. He has claimed that Joe the Plumber, who isn’t even a plumber is more important in this election than Colin Powell, a decorated military veteran who has served honorably in three administrations. How can the Republican party stand by this man and let their candidates appear on his show? Rush Limbaugh’s comments are so racist, they’re funny, in a Borat, Archie Bunker kind of way. What is not funny is the millions of dittoheads who listen to him, who take in and re-spout all the racist rhetoric that he spits. Limbaugh’s statements are echoed in the racist, angry Palin/McCain supporters who shout ‘kill him,’ ‘terrorist,’ ‘communist,’ ‘traitor,’ ’socialist’ and ‘off with his head.’

9. We need segregated buses… This is Obama’s America.

Source

Okay Limbaugh let’s take back all of the Civil Rights movement and bring segregation back. But you’re not a racist.

10. Obama’s entire economic program is reparations

Source

So everything Obama is doing is a big plot to give money to Black people. Any evidence? Stop the racist fear-mongering.

THE TWO CONTESTED QUOTES

We ran these two quotes as part of our original list of ten. However, in the fall of 2009, this post surfaced in the debate that followed Limbaugh’s dismissal from an investment group attempting to purchase the St. Louis Rams. NewsOne has, as yet, not been able to determine the veracity of these quotes.  We note the following for the record:

  • These two quotes were both sourced to a book by Jack Huberman called “101 People Who Are Really Screwing America,” published by Nation Books in 2006. The author of this book, in turn, claims that he procured these quotes from a source which he has refused to reveal “on advice of counsel.”
  • Rush Limbaugh has vigorously denied that he said these things.

In sum, NewsOne can no longer vouch for the accuracy of these quotes. Nor can we trust Limbaugh, who never denied saying the other eight racist quotes on our original list, and whose own track record of duplicity gives us pause.  We keep them in our post for their news value as a controversial, and perhaps dubious attribution. Segregated, of course. Which should make some people very happy.

1. I mean, let’s face it, we didn’t have slavery in this country for over 100 years because it was a bad thing. Quite the opposite: slavery built the South. I’m not saying we should bring it back; I’m just saying it had its merits. For one thing, the streets were safer after dark.

Source

2. You know who deserves a posthumous Medal of Honor? James Earl Ray [the confessed assassin of Martin Luther King]. We miss you, James. Godspeed.

BONUS QUOTES

(…because ten isn’t enough!)

Obama is “more African in his roots than he is American” and is “behaving like an African colonial despot”

Source

How exactly does and African colonial despot behave? Trying to degrade our President by attacking his African roots?

Obama is an angry Black guy

Source

Was John McCain an angry white guy? Was George Bush a dumb white man? Is your hero, Dick Cheney, an evil white demon? Why are you playing off the angry Black guy stereotype to disrespect our President?

ANTI-LATINO QUOTES

Let the unskilled jobs that take absolutely no knowledge whatsoever to do — let stupid and unskilled Mexicans do that work.

You’re a foreigner. You shut your mouth or you get out.

“A Chavez is a Chavez. We’ve Always Had Problems with Them”

Casey, you are so Right. Rush is the Number One racist on the airwaves today. I’m so glad that you assembled all ten of these quotes in one place, for all to see. You missed Rush’s recent racist rant that Obama went to church to pray because he was so distressed at having to order the killing of three black African teen-agers — the three Somali pirates who were holding the American captain hostage on a small boat. It’s incredible to read all the comments posted here by idiots who deny that Rush is a racist. All these brain-dead dittoheads living under Rush’s hypnotic influence are scary. How can so many Americans be so dumb? Rush is indeed the Voice of the Klan, and some of the guys posting here sound like they should be wearing sheets, too.

Vote with your DOLLARS people!!! DON’T be afraid of BOYCOTTING T.V., Radio,or other supporters of Rush Limbaugh!!! Black or White — The Media keeps telling people “It’s a world that is going GREEN” now. Vote with YOUR Dollars people!!! Thank you from Denver,CO.

  • 4-9-2009 11:13 am

Half these “quotes” are complete fabrications. Rush Limbaugh never said them. So much for this writer’s credibility. If Rush was so racist, people could use things he actually said to support that view instead of making things up. The truth is that Rush has been targeted for years as the victim of lies and attacks – not because he’s racist, but because he disagrees with certain political ideas. That’s fascism: labeling someone as evil because they speak out against what the government is doing. The truth is that people aren’t offended by what Rush says about minorities. People are offended by what Rush says about politics. Joe Biden has just as many quotes that can be cited as racist, but he’s “on the right side” so he gets a pass.

  • 4-6-2009 4:18 am

It’s funny NewOne Calls Rush a racist, yet Joe Biden Obama Vice idiot had more racial undertones when commenting on Obama as a candidate. Some of his comment was included in the Barack the magic negro song. http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2007-01-31-biden-2008_x.htm

Just to point out how asinine this post is… look at #7. One line, without showing what was said before or after. Typical Media. I thought news one was suppose to be different. guess not

  • 2-27-2009 10:55 pm

….just another a*****e trying to boost his ratings but i dnt really think he’s a racist

  • 2-8-2009 1:52 pm

I tell you it is shameful how people just take at face value the claims of people. It’s so easy to make assumptions about people we don’t know and have not spent time listening to. Anyone who says Rush is either racist or hateful against African-American is either ignorant or a deliberate deceiver. Saying things that SOUND racist does not make you one. And when people are taken out of context, like Bill Bennett was a while back, it makes no sense to blindly accept false accusations based on out of context quotes. Do not be fooled by the nonsense in this post against Rush. It is deceptive propaganda.

  • 2-7-2009 11:21 pm

Remember Hitler said similar things about people he did not like. It is only a matter of time when someone says rush is right. We need to get rid of them once and for all. The hated spewed by Rush Limbaugh is not new. Read your history book. Also keep in mind that when Barack became president, the sale of weapons went up tremendously. The bad economic times helped the Germans turn on the minorities. Funny how history repeats itself.

  • 2-7-2009 11:13 am

I strongly think this morron should have been off the air years ago. I wonder why people have not got together and boycott His sponsors. I wonder why no one have ever protest the dummys distributers . Finaly why this guy has been on the radio for atlesat 20 plus years. We as a people need to demand this guy need to be taken off the air just like we did Imus.
at least do it to show the nation and the world his rasist and juvinlle behavior should never be tolerated.

    Time to stand up

  • 2-7-2009 1:19 am

I have watched both Rush’s tv show and listened to his radio show. He is not a racist. Anyone who argues or thinks he is, simply doesn’t know the facts.

I notice that there is no way to check the credibility of the claims on this page. The so-called quotes from Rush are probably taken WAY out of context, but we can’t tell because the author, supposedly a college graduate, did NOT provide source information.

Casey needs to call this article “Talkin the Lies” because that’s pretty much what this is. Instead of knee-jerk reactions, he should have done his homework.

  • 2-6-2009 8:54 am

    This is all so much C R A P!!!!
I have listened to Rush regularly for over a DECADE and have NEVER heard this type of commentary. This sounds like the old bull***t from Louis Farakhan talking about WILLIE LYNCH, or the one about Elvis saying “I only need black folks to shine my shoes”.

If this dribble is true, and the writer has all this information, how about some TIMES, DATES, PLACES?

I Barack Obama can’t be criticized for Rev Wright, then how can ANYONE be criticized for Rush Limbaugh?

I’ve said bad things about blacks, whites, Obama and Usama at blackindependent, but nothing that is not true.

Not like some of the stuff I read here

  • 2-5-2009 10:12 am

Rush Limbaugh is an ass. An Ass that says what most racist craker rednecks are afraid to say lest they get their ass beat. He pimps these people and makes them feel good by saying these things like they are hallowed American Ideals.( which they are in some quarters.) Why is it that evil people live so long??? Hell isn’t hot enough for him. I hope he OD’s on Oxycontin.

  • 1-29-2009 5:16 pm

I don’t think this guy is a racist really, I think he say’s stupid things so people take notice, It’s basically “shock Jock” talk radio, No difference than Howard Stern. The real said thing is that people are not bright enough to understand this and actually follow rush limbaugh. It’s all about advertising dollars, He has the right to say what he wants people should also have to smarts to know that he’s an idiot!

  • 1-26-2009 2:50 pm

The quotes are racist, but I doubt that Rush ever said these things. The sound clips are simply his point-of-view. I would like to see someone actually address them.

  • 1-25-2009 11:47 am

FOX NEWS Channel is a problem also..They are an unapologetic racist Republican right-wing channel and spout off their “conservative” opinions as often as they can…That’s why I watch CNN, which is FAIR and UNBALANCED and doesn’t interject their personal political beliefs on air!!!!!

  • 12-17-2008 7:52 pm

Rush Limbaugh and anybody else can say what they want to say about “OUR NEW PRESIDENT”. He’s in there. He’s gonna be in there for 4 years hopefully 8. So Limbaugh and anybody else can say what they want. They need to just suck it up,deal with it,live with it!!! And i believe along with the people who voted him in the he is in for the right reasons. This is a new time a new USA and who are holding on to the ideals of racism, GROW THE HELL UP!!!! God put him there for a reason. GET OVER IT!!!!! OBAMA!!!

  • 11-10-2008 1:50 pm

Rush Limbaugh needs to be directly confronted for his comments. Casey, can you list links to where Rush Limbaugh’s quotes can be located, particularly #2 & #8?

  • 11-1-2008 7:10 pm

What surprises me is that the media haven’t jumped all over this guy for his racist remarks about General Powell! If he had suggested that one of the white former Secretaries of State who have endorsed McCain had done so because he (McCain) is white, the press would have had a field day. Apparently it is ok for Limbaugh to impugn General Powell’s motives because he is black! There are intelligent conservative people who might decide to vote for McCain, but why would any intelligent person continue to listen to Limbaugh continue his racist prattle?

  • 10-30-2008 7:53 pm

I need to verify these quotes, can anyone give me the dates that Limbaugh made these statements. I need this to make a case for a University which prides itself on diversity to discontinue broadcasting their Sports program on a radio station where Limbaugh is featured.
    Please contact me at kerbyneill@yahoo.com

  • 10-27-2008 11:08 pm

rush limbaugh needs to be FIRED ASAP!!! he can talk a lot about african americans but yet african americans have more intelligence then this fat sag face bigot the media just likes to show how ignorant he really is!! his ignorance is unspeakable!!

  • 10-24-2008 11:31 pm

The first time I head this clown was in 89 or 90 as I drove through the empty desert of West Texas. I assumed it was some local moron, it was the only station, so I listened. He was ranting about “dark Africa.” “Can anyone name one important thing that came to our culture from dark Africa.” And he sneered, the sneer he always uses when he knows that he is something overtly racist, a sneer that says “I do this to pretend its kind of a joke, but its not.”

Later he became famous, and continued to be just as racist. I heard his claim that the Bush-Kerry election wasn’t really that close, because “if you take out the black vote,”
Bush’s margin is huge. Thus, invalidating whatever than Amendment was in the constitution and the Voting Rights Act. He has kept on this tack in recent, more desperate days, saying how democracy fails when too many of the riff-raff (who?) get to vote.
Many people hate Rush, but he is always treated respectfully in the mainstream media, as opposed to someone like David Duke, whose positions and rhetoric are virtually the same.

And of course one of his recurring numbers involves mocking the idea of concern for non-white victims of American capitalism, whether they are Eskimo girls whose villages are crushed by global warming, or the brown and tan-skinned children blown to pieces by Ameican bombs in the mideast.

He does believe all this and more; it was instilled in him by his hard right John Bircher father. He never doubted for a second.

  • 10-22-2008 6:25 pm

I am not sure if he even believes all of this, as much he just recognizes it will create an audience.

  • 10-22-2008 12:56 am

I THINK IT IS ALL GOOD UNTIL WE START SAYING,THAT FEEDING CHIRSTIANS TO THE LIONS WAS FUN TO WATCH,THAT FOOL SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO SPEAK INTO A CAN LET ALONE A MIC.

  • 10-21-2008 11:26 am

Too many good points to respond to all of them Casey. I do want to say that there are times a writer can succ**b to Godwin’s Law and bring up the Nazis with ample justification. I think Limbaugh would fit right into the Reich’s ministry of propaganda.

Your noticing how much Limbaugh looks like Gacy kind of – no racial insult intended – spooky. Both of them would be a horror to see approaching you in a dark alley.

Only since Olbermann started making him The Worst Person on many of his shows along with Sean Hannity and some others who vie for the dubious “honor” have I realized just how horribly racist this guy is.

Nice job in wading through his cesspool to put together these example.

To think Imus was kicked off the air for his racist remarks about the Rutger’s women’s basketball team. Compared to Limbaugh Imus was classy. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Don_Imus#Rutgers_women.27s_basketball_controversy

  • 10-21-2008 10:36 am

Seriously, I do not understand why he gets away with this…actually I kind of do understand why, but it sucks – he sucks. And, wow, how fitting is that picture of him? Nice find. Excellent work Casey!

  • 10-21-2008 10:34 am
