Top 10 Racist Limbaugh Quotes

By Casey Gane-McCalla October 20, 2008 9:45 pm

We never anticipated the popularity of this article, nor the controversy that it would cause.  But all we can say is, “Thank you, Rush, for being you.”

THE TOP TEN QUOTES

1. Have you ever noticed how all composite pictures of wanted criminals resemble Jesse Jackson?

Source

No, but I’ve noticed that all racist bigots think like Rush Limbaugh. Comparing a respected black politician and minister to common criminals is Jim Crow racism. Maybe all black people look alike to him, but I’ve never seen a picture of a wanted criminal that looks like Jesse Jackson. A serial killer that looks like Rush Limbaugh on the other hand.

John Wayne Gacy

2. Right. So you go into Darfur and you go into South Africa, you get rid of the white government there. You put sanctions on them. You stand behind Nelson Mandela — who was bankrolled by communists for a time, had the support of certain communist leaders. You go to Ethiopia. You do the same thing.

Source

The communist connection is an old way of dealing with black leaders. They used it on Martin Luther King, they’re using it on Barack Obama and Limbaugh used it on Nelson Mandela. By siding with the racist apartheid regime over a world-wide symbol of peace and freedom, Limbaugh has shown he’s a global racist.

3. Look, let me put it to you this way: the NFL all too often looks like a game between the Bloods and the Crips without any weapons. There, I said it.

Source

Limbaugh is once again fear mongering and race baiting by associating professional black athletes with criminals and gangmembers. He continues the fear mongering association of good, decent, hard working African Americans as criminals.

4. The NAACP should have riot rehearsal. They should get a liquor store and practice robberies.

Source

Now Limbaugh is saying that an organization with a storied tradition of representing the positive black people for change in their communities are criminals and rioters. An organization that has been represented by intelligent professional African Americans, that has played a part in the Civil Rights movement and continues to be an intelligent, concerned voice for the African American community is degraded to common criminals. There you go Rush. Keep racism alive!!!!

5. They’re 12 percent of the population. Who the hell cares?

Source

Decent human beings care Rush. Someone out of that 12% is the President of the United States. Not caring about black people? Even George Bush wouldn’t admit to that.

6. [To an African American female caller]: Take that bone out of your nose and call me back.

Source

Okay, Rush, that’s classy. The old African bone in the nose stereotype. Wasn’t funny when the racist white school kids called the black kids that and it’s definitely not funny when a grown man with audience of millions of easily influenced dittoheads says it either.

7. I think the media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well.  They’re interested in black coaches and black quarterbacks doing well.  I think there’s a little hope invested in McNabb and he got a lot of credit for the performance of his team that he really didn’t deserve.

Source

I wasn’t super offended by this, the whole black quarterback/coach thing has been going on for years in sports, but the quote was so offensive that Retired General Wesley Clarke said:

There can be no excuse for such statements. Mr. Limbaugh has the right to say whatever he wants, but ABC and ESPN have no obligation to sponsor such hateful and ignorant speech. Mr. Limbaugh should be fired immediately.

When a respected, retired general condemns the statement of a sportscaster, you know he’s gone too far.

8. Limbaugh’s many attacks on Obama.

Limbaugh has called Obama a ‘halfrican American’ has said that Obama was not Black but Arab because Kenya is an Arab region, even though Arabs are less than one percent of Kenya. Since mainstream America has become more accepting of African-Americans, Limbaugh has decided to play against its new racial fears, Arabs and Muslims. Despite the fact Obama graduated magna cum laude from Harvard Law school, Limbaugh has called him an ‘affirmative action candidate.’ Limbaugh even has repeatedly played a song on his radio show ‘Barack the Magic Negro’ using an antiquated Jim Crow era term for Black a man who many Americans are supporting for president. Way to go Rush.

So Rush Limbaugh has managed to make racist attacks on four of the most admired and respected people of African descent in the past one hundred years, in Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela, Colin Powell and Barack Obama. He has claimed that Joe the Plumber, who isn’t even a plumber is more important in this election than Colin Powell, a decorated military veteran who has served honorably in three administrations. How can the Republican party stand by this man and let their candidates appear on his show? Rush Limbaugh’s comments are so racist, they’re funny, in a Borat, Archie Bunker kind of way. What is not funny is the millions of dittoheads who listen to him, who take in and re-spout all the racist rhetoric that he spits. Limbaugh’s statements are echoed in the racist, angry Palin/McCain supporters who shout ‘kill him,’ ‘terrorist,’ ‘communist,’ ‘traitor,’ ’socialist’ and ‘off with his head.’

9. We need segregated buses… This is Obama’s America.

Source

Okay Limbaugh let’s take back all of the Civil Rights movement and bring segregation back. But you’re not a racist.

10. Obama’s entire economic program is reparations

Source

So everything Obama is doing is a big plot to give money to Black people. Any evidence? Stop the racist fear-mongering.

THE TWO CONTESTED QUOTES

We ran these two quotes as part of our original list of ten. However, in the fall of 2009, this post surfaced in the debate that followed Limbaugh’s dismissal from an investment group attempting to purchase the St. Louis Rams. NewsOne has, as yet, not been able to determine the veracity of these quotes.  We note the following for the record:

  • These two quotes were both sourced to a book by Jack Huberman called “101 People Who Are Really Screwing America,” published by Nation Books in 2006. The author of this book, in turn, claims that he procured these quotes from a source which he has refused to reveal “on advice of counsel.”
  • Rush Limbaugh has vigorously denied that he said these things.

In sum, NewsOne can no longer vouch for the accuracy of these quotes. Nor can we trust Limbaugh, who never denied saying the other eight racist quotes on our original list, and whose own track record of duplicity gives us pause.  We keep them in our post for their news value as a controversial, and perhaps dubious attribution. Segregated, of course. Which should make some people very happy.

1. I mean, let’s face it, we didn’t have slavery in this country for over 100 years because it was a bad thing. Quite the opposite: slavery built the South. I’m not saying we should bring it back; I’m just saying it had its merits. For one thing, the streets were safer after dark.

Source

2. You know who deserves a posthumous Medal of Honor? James Earl Ray [the confessed assassin of Martin Luther King]. We miss you, James. Godspeed.

This is a great expose – a question though? Do you also plan on submitting a story on the racist behaviors of folks like Farrakhan, Jackson, Wright, and a host of other African Americans who should really know better or are their offenses deemed not worthy of such a scholarly dissection?

    Keepin’ it real!

Man I cant take a political nutjob seriously when I have more education then him, He barely got out of High school, that is as far as he went. PS Nothing wrong with having just a HS degree.

Let’s all make up more quotes and claim Rush said them. Then Casey can source his own comments for his next article. We need to make it as easy as possible for Casey cause real work isn’t his cup of tea.

Intellectsucks…number 4 has NOTHING to do with race? Seriously…wow okay

And by the way Barack The Magic Negro is on soundbite…so is the Bloods and Crips comment…and number 9 was not a legitimate criticism it was racially provacative and insensitive..and is even more questionable now considering his other comments that I mentioned in my other quotes. One racist quote by the way…is enough…not to mention all the other sexist and divisive comments he’s made. People just don’t hate him for no reason…we don’t hate Rush for his politics..we hate him for his ignorance

  • 10-15-2009 7:59 pm

I just find it amazing that people are here defending the guy. The guy’s not just a racist..he’s an a-hole. He’s made sexist comments also..if I’m not mistaken about women like being sexually harassed and several comments about “feminists”…he made fun of a disabled person saying it was “purely an act”…he’s made racially insensitive comments such as the “Barack the Magic Negro” song or the Bloods, Crips, and the NFL quote or the Pick the Bone out your nose quote or the “White kids get beat by black kids in Obama’s America” quote or his mention about Obama givin out reparations…I mean…all these comments are just meant to raise hatred…he’s controversial for a reason…this is’t just some Vast Liberal Conspiracy…

  • 10-15-2009 7:43 pm

It’s interesting how not one of your “sources” for your quotes links to an ACTUAL quote from Rush Limbaugh. This is interesting because all of his shows are available for download. If the comments were made, you should be able to provide a sound clip.

For the first two quotes, the person who made it up was not able to provide proof that the quote was made so the Huffington Post had to take it down. It’s obvious that you are trying to provide evidence that this stuff wasn’t made up. Why link to a source where the first thing on the page is a big red notification saying that there is no proof for the quote?

Number five seems like it is linked to a legitimate source and may be a legitimate quote (though once again there is no link to a firsthand source). This is a bad quote and can’t really be defended, though I wouldn’t put it in a “Top Ten Racist Quotes List”.

Number 9 was a legitimate criticism of the media coverage of Donovan McNabb, which you yourself said wasn’t all that bad. “Well someone else found it offensive so it MUST be bad!” really is not the most intellectually honest way to prove your point.

Number four has nothing to do with race, it is a criticism of Democratic support for one war while opposing another.

The remainder all link to dubious left wing blogs. Can you show me a link from the New York Times? CNN? How bout an image of an archived news paper that runs one of these quotes? Or (the best yet) how bout running an audio clip of the shows that these quotes come from?

Having many people repeat the same lie does not make it true. If you hate Rush, hate him for what he ACTUALLY says, not what other people said he said.

This is kinda how some white people are. It’s those who wanna live in the past (Jim Crowe and the 50’s) where if they felt inadequate, all they had to do was harass someone with darker skin, scrunched eyes or whatever. It’s a thing about self esteem and the mesh of political views with their ego. People like Limbaugh and Beck feel they have something to prove like that they’re better than people who aren’t white (or sometimes even conservative, for that matter). They start out with a political idea-porponent, and then they attach their ego to everything they say and do. They are the epitome of hypocrites and f**king demons. They wanna go back to a time when a black person hanging from a tree was just “good ol’ fun” and race-killings held no place in court (literally) or were labeled outright as provocation and “teaching n****rs a lesson.”

Being white, I tell you– the types of people like Limbaugh and Beck are not unknown to any of us. It might be slight like in the North, or overt like the South, but regardless, racism is still alive. Don’t worry– white people who say you guys are just complaining for no reason when you spot racism are either: 1) F**king retarded, 2) Naive/ immature or 3) They are racist and want to keep the s**t undercover. It is deteriorating, but it’s not dead. It will never die, but just as slavery became Jim Crowe, which became segregation, which became isolated incidents, it has become hushed racism, which will soon be isolated murmurs of racist thought among a select few. The power of “one superior race” diminishing is what f**ks like Beck and Limbaugh fear. They long for the comfort their parents had– that they could look themselves in the mirror and truly believe that no matter how stupid, ugly or whatever they might be, they’re better than people of other races (f**ked up, I know, but some people still believe this s**t and/or wanna believe it again, which is why you see so much racism come about when a black man is President of the united States). They are f**king scared, and their time is coming to own up to the s**t they said and stop hiding behind their million-dollar homes and gated communities and answer to the f**king people.

Or something like that. Just a thought.

  • 10-15-2009 6:45 pm

i wish this guy and his kind would just DIE!! someday their subjective way of living will catch up with them but for now the saddest part is that they make millions on millions of dollars off their ignorant, racist, aggressive way of thinking, feeding their puny minded, backward thinking followers…but as a black person living in the united states,i use these people as my motivation, every comment, every event and way of thinking feeds my successive drive…they are a DIEING BREED INDEED.(just think, only a few years ago, him and his kind would have been a owner of any NFL team he wanted, NO QUESTIONS ASKED, we now live in a society where people like this will be challenged at every corner of the hemisphere< we dont need your millions here boy!!!!…and still i rise!

    p.s. i am a magic negro!!!!

  • 10-15-2009 3:03 pm

@nohandout…I commend you for your honesty. If only more “people”, incuding Rush, could be as honest as you. classy57lady will you please get this “man” a “white sheet and a white pointed hat”…afterall, “that’s all this guy needs.” But who am I kidding, he probably has one that’s been “passed down”. LMBAO
This is why I couldn’t be a black republican b/c, in my opinion, this is the consensus of their party.
If nothing else someone who is “a little racist” would know from Rush’s comments that he is “a little racist” too. Thanks for clearing that up.
For the record, I don’t have to “pretend” that I “don’t have the same feelings for whites”…I don’t.

  • 10-15-2009 2:44 pm

He’s racist? Somebody call the gestapo! So what if he’s a little racist? Whats wrong with that? Every one on this site recognizes race as a part of who someone is. does rush have stereotypes for black people that are offensive? Yes as do most white people including myself. It’s kinda hard not to when there are so many of you in jail, slinging drugs, shooting each other, and standing in line in Detroit for your share of “Obama Money” that you have no idea where it comes from. These are all actions performed by a few that lead to a steroetype for all. If you can pretend you don’t have the same feelings for whites based on those you call rednecks then congrats. But honestly I believe we’re all a little racist and I don’t see a problem with it.

  • 10-15-2009 12:46 pm

Newsone.com made the news! Rush Limbaugh is a racist? Coming from a website devoted to a race? Talk about the pot calling the kettle… white. This website is a truly epoch collection of hypocrites.

Perionne27 says “And by the way…as a black person..I was indeed offended by the “Barack the Magic Negro” song…it surely wasn’t intended to be a compliment. Nice try trying to spin it though”

LMBAO…yeah he tried hard, but he wasn’t able to pull it off. But I agree with you its funny how they didn’t have a problem with the other quotes. This stuff has been on the news for days…and after hearing the truth about the quotes I have one question…why’d he wait soooo long to say that he’s going to sue over the slavery quote? From my understanding, it was first stated in a book,101 People who are REALLY Screwing Up America (2006), and others’ followed suit. The “dittoheads” and “doubting thomas’” can attempt to spin this any way they want, but I”l go by his words.

After his loss with the Rams…all I can say is Rush Limbaugh umm umm umm ummm lol.

  • 10-14-2009 10:12 pm

My God!!! Anybody got a white sheet and a white pointed hat??? That’s all this guy needs.

  • 10-14-2009 8:30 pm

come on! anyone who seriously believe this load of unsourced waste needs to wake up. regardless of if you agree with Rush, at least have the decency to argue him outside of your warped fantasy world.

  • 10-14-2009 7:06 pm

I had no idea Mr. Rush Limbaugh has said so many funny things! Thank you for sharing.

  • 10-14-2009 5:52 pm

Lol at the pathetic attempts to defend Rush. To Geonation63 let me ask you a question…when Rush told a black woman on the phone to “go pick the bone out of your nose and call me back”…was that made up too? Was it made up when he said the NFL looks like a fight with the Bloods and the Crips? Was it made up when he said “In Obama’s america white kids get beat up by black kids”? You are aware that all of this is on tape right? And actually Number 1 and 2 are not fake quotes…several reported hearing it..though I have now heard they’re having trouble looking back and finding it. Wonder why? nice try though…lol…trying to make this a “Liberals against Rush” thing. This isn’t about liberals vs. conservatives…this is about a bigot who sadly…has millions of listeners

And by the way…as a black person..I was indeed offended by the “Barack the Magic Negro” song…it surely wasn’t intended to be a compliment. Nice try trying to spin it though

  • 10-13-2009 7:44 pm

You know, it is easy to make up quotes, post them to the Internet, then claim that Limbaugh is a racist based on the made up quotes. Numbers 1 and 2 have been shown repeatedly to be fake quotes, circulated around the Internet by liberals. Think about that. Liberals are making these vile things up, then spreading them around to slander someone as a racist. Next time you write an article like this, check Snopes first. If you don’t know what that is, then you shouldn’t be writing this kind of thing.

I wasn’t aware that “Magic Negro” was a Jim Crow term. In fact, that is typical of the sloppy work done here. The term was actually popularized by Spike Lee as a term for a supporting African American, often mystical stock character in fiction who, by use of special insight or powers, helps the white protagonist get out of trouble. It arose out of literature and movies. It was in no way meant to be derogatory toward the African American characters, but to the laziness of the white scriptwriters and the white audiences that accept such silly premises. It is deus ex machina in black face.

So Rush called Obama the Magic Negro? His point would appear to be not about Obama, but about the white people that invest him with mystical insight and intelligence simply because he is African American. It is a somewhat perceptive comment on the frequent soft racism of Obama supporters.

  • 10-13-2009 3:47 pm

Really…you SEARCHED the INTERNET and therefore you KNOW these quotes are TRUE??? Are ALL of you people REALLY this STUPID. Do you really think everything on the internet is TRUE. When you behave in this ignorant a way you simply play into the hands of ACTUAL RACISTS. People can and DO put anything they want on the internet. Have of these items came from Wikipedia…you DO know that is not an actual source of the truth…right. You DO know that anyone can post anything on Wikipedia..and they even put a stupid disclaimer on these items SAYING they have note been verified. Please people…GROW BRAINS

  • 10-13-2009 2:26 pm

Did you bother sourcing any of those quotes or did you just pull them off the web?

HAHA! Whoever wrote this blog is totally going to get sued for libel…you have no sources, no context, nada. Maybe one thing you could have learned from Rush is ALWAYS source your quotes and ALWAYS use them in context. Now a handful of sports writers have been using these to smear Rush, and once it’s found out that they’re fabricated and they get traced back to their originator (possibly…you??), said originator is f*cked.

As for “Top 10 Racist Limbaugh Quotes”, I used a couple of search engines and found those listed above and many, many more. Wow…all I had to do was search.

First off, I’ve heard of black cons, but I didn’t think that they were real or anymore than “tokens” like Condoleezza Rice or Clarence Thomas. When Condi was given her position, like Michael Steele, I thought that most blacks would be able to see through this gesture…guess not. As I read your comments, Khallid Abdul Muhammad’s statement came to mind.

“When white folks can’t defeat you they’ll always find some Negro, some boot-licking, butt-licking, bamboozled, half-baked, half-fried, sissified, punkified, pasteurized, homogenized N%&*#r that they can trot out in front of you”

How true that is. Our great country, from The American Revolution to Emancipation to The New Deal to Brown v. Board of Education to the Civil Rights Acts of the 1960’s, were all founded on LIBERAL not conservative ideas. Now that things are better, some blacks have fooled themselves into thinking that Repubs respect them…please. They want to parade you around and w***e you. Currently Repubs/cons. are overwhelmingly white…that speaks volumes to me. “Today, only 2% of all GOP voters are Latino. Only 1% of Republicans are Black.” They’re not reaching out to us, but waiting for us to conform to their ideas and come to them. While Repubs/cons have a higher income and education…I don’t like to feel like/be an “Uncle Tom” or “sell-out”…I’d prefer to be content with what I see in the mirror. “Republicans are about 50 percent more likely to be self-employed, and are more likely to work in the area of management.” “In 2004, George W. Bush won 55% of the richest twenty percent” of voters.”
In conclusion, black Repubs/cons are as beneficial to blacks as the thugged-out-I-need-another-handout-stereotype is.
