“I’d rather have [silence] McCain was consistent, he was [silence] we have Romney and Gingrich [silence],” she said, before realizing she had been bleeped and asking, “what did I say? Douchebag?”

To hear her speak like that about someone in her own party is not entirely shocking to some.  Shes had a long record of being disrespectful of many Democrats.  Not too long ago she was quoted as saying:

“I think the government should be spying on all Arabs, engaging in torture as a televised spectator sport, dropping daisy cutters wantonly throughout the Middle East and sending liberals to Guantanamo.”

As if that was not enough, Ms. Coulter took it to an entirely new level and went onto go after late Senator and political icon Ted Kennedy:

” Speaking again about Romney’s repeated policy shifts, she said, ‘I mean, you’re flipping from positions you held when you came within five points of taking out that human pestilence. Come on, give the guy a break!’”

After her most recent comments against Ted Kennedy and McCain, it will be interesting to see what leaders from within the Republican Party condemn her remarks.  Do you think Ann Coulter has burned a bridge within her own party?  What are the limits of “shock talk” if any? “Nanny Annie” Coulter’s remarks (which make her sound like a character from “Gone with the Wind”) also spoke to the peculiar fight between liberals and conservatives, who are trying to toss around the Black community like two pimps arguing over a prostitute. Rather than adjusting their platforms to fit issues that matter to Black America, each party is only able to point out the fact that they believe the other group abuses Black people more than they do. In that regard, neither conservatives nor liberals are innocent when vying to put Black folks on their own plantation.

When Coulter makes reference to “her Blacks,” which include the always-entertaining Herman Cain, she is referring to Black folks who embody the values that Coulter and her friends believe to be true. When someone like Cain attempts to genuinely lead the party in a different direction, he is spit out like a sex offender at a debutante ball. An example is when he challenged Rick Perry over the “niggerhead” controversy and was quickly told to sit down and shut up. Political analyst Yvette Carnell described things beautifully when she said, “The rendering of Black people as the ornaments of diversity, rather than incarnations of it, is one of the essential reasons why Blacks clash with conservatism.”

So, all of the conservatives jumping to defend Herman Cain only stand up for him when he does what he’s told, not when he represents an independent Black voice that has been wired for true leadership. Almost nothing that Cain brings to the conservative side of the table represents anything other than a puppet-like recitation of the ideals that Coulter, Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity already embody, and this puppy dog paternalism is exactly what one expects to hear in a racist society. When Colin Powell, another conservative, attempted to help shape the direction of the Republican Party, he too was attacked and chastised for not knowing his place.

Ann Coulter’s reference to “our Blacks,” is an interesting, powerful and extraordinarily telling statement. Ann Coulter’s remarks, while certainly designed to get ratings for a TV show, actually capture the essence of what happens across the board in American politics. Both liberals and conservatives love playing the tacky and insulting game of Black political ownership, so I can’t say that Coulter is alone in her condescending view of the second class citizenship of the African American community. African Americans are like customers at McDonald’s who are told to choose between the Happy Meal and the Value Meal, but never allowed to go into the kitchen to cook the food they want to eat.

At the end of the day, I don’t want to be one of Coulter’s Blacks or one of the Blacks under ownership of the Democratic Party.  We belong to no one and we deserve to have the freedom and liberation that we’ve been seeking for the last 400 years. Black American politics must grow beyond the task of simply choosing the better pimp, and any party that isn’t seriously committed to pursuing racial equality through deliberate and progressive action is just speaking the same old fluff.

Coulter echoed Limbaugh’s comments on the matter saying the media was trying to take a Black Republican down.

“Liberals detest, detest, detest conservative blacks,” she said. “…This is now the second time (Clarence Thomas) a conservative black has had outrageous and what appear to be false allegations leveled against him.”

Coulter brought things back to race, saying that some women had been quick to forgive Bill Clinton for his sexual transgressions, but were attacking Herman Cain. “If you are a conservative black, they will believe the most horrible sexualized fantasies of these uptight white feminists,” she said.

Hannity wondered why liberals were, in his words, so “threatened” by Cain. Coulter was blunt in her response.

“Our blacks are so much better than their blacks,” she said, speaking of Democrats. “To become a black Republican, you don’t just roll into it. You’re not going with the flow…and that’s why we have very impressive blacks in the Republican party.”

Marriage “is not a civil right — you’re not black,” Coulter told the crowd, building upon an argument that claimed the equal protections provided by the Fourteenth Amendment — and potentially used to build a case for marriage equality — were only applicable to black people.

Unfortunately for him, he had the unenviable position of having that debate with conservative drone, Ann Coulter.   For every cogent, common sense point that Al Sharpton noted, Coulter was there with a wholly irrational counter.

Some of Coulter’s unconscionable highlights included:

“… And also, by the way, I do think there was a little racial profiling with the president assuming an Irish cop would like to drink beer, no Chablis here… that’s a little stereotyping.”

“We have one case after another of these, where there is the assumption of racial profiling or racism by cops or by teachers and you have one hoax after another from Tawana Brawley to the Duke lacrosse case. I mean if we’re going to claim that there is this rash of racial profiling in America, eventually there’s going to have to be one real case of it.“

“No, I do not think that there is an epidemic of racial profiling. I think there is an epidemic of claims of racism that turn out to be a hoax.”

“There was a scientific study setting up cameras of people speeding and it turns out that New Jersey state troopers, by scientific evidence, that the Bush administration kept rejecting and rejecting, were stopping if anything, not enough black people.”

The best rebuttal is Sharpton’s simple but effective admonishment that, “That’s just Ann being Ann.”  What kills me is the total lack of boundaries that some of the talking head pundits have.  They go on these shows and spew this mindless rhetoric on any issue they can.  When I see Caulter and people of her ilk all I think is dollar signs.  They blindly market to their niches, not allowing something as silly as common sense to cloud their talking points.

The problem is that these news organizations do everything they can to encourage this.  Only a fool sees one side of an argument, but these cable stations often accept partisan drivel as normalcy.  Why else would Juan Williams and Larry Elder get TV time?  It’s an insult to anyone with an iota of intelligence to turn to these channels only to be bombarded by people whose perspectives on key topics are so premeditated.  Until these stations start acknowledging that these people add no value to the news with their vitriol, we will be stuck with ridiculous caricatures like Ann Coulter.

Well, Ann Coulter’s routine on The View this morning proved that she’s just as crazy as the Pittsburgh woman (although, unfortunately, more politically influential).

Ann Coulter shills for a right-wing political movement dedicated to shredding the social safety net designed to provide assistance to poor working mothers by savaging these same single mothers as the scourge of society for rearing “70 percent of rapists, murderers, and other criminals.” She then weaves this diatribe into being part of a gigantic “Liberal” conspiracy to destroy everything that is wholesome, pure, and good in Coulter’s version of Norman Rockwell America.

She claimed today that “forty years of social science research” backs up her Dickensian, “Are there no workhouses?” worldview. But, whoa, does she leave out a lot!

Coulter appeared on CBS’s The Early Show where she told anchor Harry Smith that he was her favorite for having her on this morning after The Today Show had canceled her. Smith allowed Coulter to rant, but then pushed her on claims of right-wing victimization and urged her to “take a breath.” He also called her “goofy” and “sophomoric.”

Right-wing flame thrower Ann Coulter blasts incoming First Lady Michelle Obama as a freakish Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis imitator in a book to be published next week.

In her latest screed, titled “Guilty: Liberal ‘Victims’ and their Assault on America,” Coulter accuses the liberal left of playing the victim when in fact, she argues, they are the victimizers.

As usual, Coulter throws plenty of bombs herself.

Lashing out at the President-elect’s wife, Coulter wrote, “Her obvious imitation of Jackie O’s style – the flipped-under hair, the sleeveless A-line dresses, the short strands of fake pearls – would have been laughable if done by anyone other than a media-designated saint.”

10. Bill Cunningham

Cunningham is one of the original conservatives to popularize the use of Obama’s middle name. When he first did it at a McCain event, McCain apologized for him, but would eventually let other members of his staff use it for events. Cunningham has referred to Obama as a Manchurian candidate and said that Obama ‘wants to gas the Jews.’ Cunningham would also compare Obama to Mao, Castro and Russian communists saying, “Much like Castro took over Cuba, Mao Zedong took over Red China, and the Communists took over Russia, Obama now is poised, according to many of my good friends on the left like Paul Mason and others, to seize power in America, and I hope to be a bloodless coup.”

9. Ann Coulter

On Fox News, Ann Coulter referred to Barack Obama as B. Hussein five times in two minutes and said “his first big accomplishment (was) being born half-black.’ She has also compared him to Hitler, calling his book, Dreams From My Father a ‘dimestore Mein Kampf’ and called him a socialist who wants to surrender.

8. Jesse Jackson

Jesse Jackson wound up crying when Barack Obama won. However, after Barack Obama gave a speech on Father’s Day, telling black men to be more responsible for their kids, Jesse though he was talking down to black people. He reiterated that sentiment to another guest while appearing on Fox News with harsh language, saying “Barack be talking down to n****rs, I want to rip his nuts off.” I do believe that Jackson just had a disagreement with Obama that Fox News decided to make public, but still, wanting to rip Obama’s nuts off gives him a spot in our Top 10.

7. John McCain:

Despite pledging to run a clean campaign, John McCain ran the dirtiest campaign in Presidential history. By October, 100% of all of McCain’s ads were negative. McCain’s attack ads compared Obama to Britney Spears and Paris Hilton, attempted to tie him to Williams Ayers and Tony Rezko and claimed he wanted to teach sex ed to kindergartners. In the debates McCain showed his disdain for Barack Obama by never looking him in the eye and referring to him as ‘that one.’

6. Bill Clinton

When asked why it took two Clintons to beat Obama, Bill Clinton responded, “Jesse Jackson won South Carolina in ’84 and ’88. Jackson ran a good campaign. And Obama ran a good campaign here.” No one had mentioned Jackson, so it came off like, ‘yeah blacks can win South Carolina but Obama, like Jesse Jackson, he never really is going to have a shot.’ Clinton also claimed that Obama’s Presidential bid was a ‘fairy tale.’ Well guess what Bill? Fairy tales do come true.

5. Pastor Manning

While Obama had the overwhelming support of the black religious community, there were a few haters. Pastor Manning has called Obama a ‘house negro,’ ‘pimp’ and ‘long legged mack daddy. Manning has also attacked Obama’s late mother, calling her ‘trash,’ for sleeping with a black man and saying, “Generally the most noble of white society choose not to intercourse sexually with African men. So it’s usually the trashier ones who make their determinations that they’re going to have sex.”

4. Rush Limbaugh

Rush Limbaugh attacked Barack Obama’s racial background, making a song Barack the Magic Negro, called him a halfrican American and said that Obama was Arab and not Black, seeing how his father was from from the Arab part of Africa(Kenya is less that 2% Arab). Limbaugh also organized operation chaos, urging supporters to vote for Hillary to extend the democratic primaries and bruise up Obama and repeatedly referred to Obama as Osama.

3. Sarah Palin

Sarah Palin took to her moniker, Pitbull with Lipstick, and began to take a bite out of Obama from her first speech at the RNC convention in August, belittling his experience as a community organizer. Palin would go on the campaign trail, inspiring millions of American with her Obama hate, accusing him of palling around with terrorists, and questioning his relationship with former pastor, Reverend Wright. During campaign speeches, crowd members would yell things like ‘kill him, he’s a terrorist, off with his head’ and Palin didn’t blink an eye, giving the silent approval of the statements.

2. Bill O’Reilly

Bill O’Reilly got into a shoving match with an Obama aide in early January and called the aide a son of a bitch. He later threatened to call in the lynch mob on Michelle Obama because of her ‘unpatriotic comments’ and called Obama a socialist and a communist on The View. Obama would later show his metal by dealing with his hater face to face in a very testy interview with O’Reilly.

1. Sean Hannity

Sean Hannity spent the whole election season using his program as one big negative campaign ad against Obama. He called Obama’s church a cult, called him racist, attacked Michelle Obama as angry and bitter and harshly criticized Obama’s ties to Reverend Wright, ACORN and William Ayers. He ran a series on his program called Obama an Friends: A History of Radicalism, which was one long negative smear campaign against Obama and had gave renowned anti-Semite, Andy Martin, a platform to bash Obama.
