Annette McCullough, an 18-year-old senior who plays for Lewisville High School, has become the focus of a law enforcement inquiry after she attacked an unnamed Chester High School opponent who fouled her during a match on Monday.

The video above captures the incident in which McCullough can be seen chasing a soccer ball with an opponent pursuing her. The opposing player trips McCullough who then tumbles to the turf.

Then McCullough quickly gets back to her feet and punches the girl in the face, then pulls her hair and continues to punch her repeatedly as the girl falls to the ground.

Bystanders eventually manage to break up the scuffle. McCullough received a red card and was ejected from the game and escorted off the field. No other video has yet to surface that captures any other incidents that may have led to the fight between the two players.

A Chester County sheriff was called to the scene to investigate and McCullough was later charged with simple assault, according to reports.

Alan Parker, who was refereeing the game, told South Carolina’s CBS affiliate WBTV after the fight:

“Some incidental contact ended in one girl going down and she just got up and started pummeling. It’s unfortunate, it really is. Contact is a part of soccer, but when you retaliate like that, obviously, there is no place in the game for that. Occasionally you have players that go at it, on the field together, but in this case it was just one girl pummeling the other girl,” he said. “And she didn’t stop which is even more egregious.”

South Carolina High School League officials and the game’s referees are set to review the video to determine if any further punishments will be given.
